How are the pins missing in the first place?? Or is this a security issue? I have first Gen switch... Stuck on SX OS friend said he'd look into putting atmosphere on there.... We came a cross this very issue. He's swapped it out fo another one for me (legend BTW).... But still... Is this common?
Hey Sthetix, I was getting the same error message, so I formatted my card to fat32 and used fusee primary bin, and it worked. I don't really want to use fat32, because files larger than 4gb don't work on it. Do you know if their is any way to use exfat for cfw? I haven't disassembled my switch. Thanks
hey im having the same problem but i have 2 micro sd cards one with 128gbs and another one with 256 and the problems is that the 128gb gets booted into custom filmware correctly but the 256 one doesnt

Had broken pins, got it repaired. Worked for 6 months. Pins broke again. Got it repaired and it worked for one month until the SD card no longer was recognized. Even with no broken pins. Had or repaired again and it detects the SD card but only on 1 bit mode. I'm convinced the motherboard is damaged and my switch is screwed. There's some solder on the gold circle pins to the left of the fpc connector from the second repair. Would that effect the connection at all?
Hey, could you make a video addressing a Hekate FATfs 13 error? It works fine using TegraRCM to smash the payload in, but using a tool like 'reboot to payload' makes it trigger the error and not load cfw. Your videos have always helped me with troubleshooting and modding, so I hope you can put together this video for me and some future people. Thanks :D

I'm using my switch alot more recently, and remembered my 'Failed to mount SD card error (FatFS error 13)', I'm going to provide more details about it, and I might be asking a few questions. I can boot into cfw through TegraRcmGUI, however, if I try to access Hekate through things like restarting the console or by rebooting to payload, it throws the FatFS error 13. The console doesn't seem bricked, it can run cfw, however, I do have issues with my Super Smash Bros mods. There is also a FOUND folder on the root of my SD card, seeming only visible to my switch. Do you think that I can upgrade the SD card to a bigger one without needing to worry about the FatFS13 error? or will I need to somehow fix it? Does the level1 and level2 guide cover these?
You should warn your followers that you should do this as a last resource. Sometimes the sd card isncorrupted despite you formated it. To fix the first you have to do is format partition and errase all data with AOMEI partion program and then format to fat 32 this fixed this problem almost every time you got this error
Hello Sthetix, I skimmed through the comments section as this PIN connector issue occured to the unpatched Switch that I have setup on CFW. From the comments down below and the symptoms demonstrated in the video, I am not surprised the Switch is able to continue use with the operation of the microSD with this board defect PIN issue. First off, there's NO mention of concerns of this nature outside of the CFW scene and everyone encountering the issue is using EX-FAT formatted microSD's. Second off, the Recovery Mode does not appear to properly access the Firmware updates for MicroSD capability. I have shakey hands so I am incapable of doing any motherboard level soldering. So, I am wondering how to find repair locally. Is there a Discord or Reddit that I should look to first to find someone who can actually fix it? (A lot of Cellphone Repair shops offer Console repairs but so far all the ones I have contact have had their eyes glaze over.)
Hi Omar, i tried formatting the sd card to fat32 but no luck for me. To Sthetix, I don't have a soldering skill but I wonder if you could put a very tiny metal wire in place of the missing pin on the connector, do you think it will work? Thanks in advance.
It needs to be fat 32 with 32kb clusters. I was stuck on this problem forever. I had the right settings, but my trusted fat32 format gui suddenly stopped being capable of creating a card hekate could read. Everything else, my pc, stock switch, phone, etc..read it no problem, but not hekate. Try a different format program. Just because it says it’s the right format doesn’t mean it is. I’m sure you solved this as the comment is a year old, but maybe someone will read it haha

I just purchased a new sd card reader, and doesn't matter how many times I reseat the reader, I still keep getting the "Make sure the sd card reader is properly seated" error. Both cfw and ofw don't detect the SD. All pins are in place. I don't know what else to try! Samsung EVO Plus 256gb. Latest Hekate and ATMOS. Nice video, btw!

Hello! There are MANY of us unable to perform this repair on our own. (I am in Canada looking for someone with experience or does so professionally to repair this issue on a console)
Unfortunately, I don't have a multimeter so I haven't tried that yet, and one more thing that I did was replace my switch's SD card reader but still no good.
Hopefully you're still watching comments lol I'm having the opposite issue where my sd is read fine in cfw, but not in ofw. It was was being read fine up until very recently (today in fact). I've checked the connector and it looks fine, but when i boot into ofw (partitioned sd if that matters) it says the card cant be read and to power off, reinsert. and power back on just to tell me the same again

Hello, I started having this problem, my sd card reader has seen some of abuse because I constantly changed Sd cards, i opened it up and there wasn't any pin missing so i just bought another sd reader, its working from now and then, there's slow down, and it crashes, Is there a way i can check if it's the pin zone.
I have an ultra 64gb card... transferred all files to my desktop and copied over to a new 256gb ultra card... it boots up but says microsd card is missing. When i boot up normal, it shows the card. Any ideas?
I have the opposite it could only boot into cfw but not turn on at all into official then I let it power off from sitting around and someone dropped it when I tried turning it on I get that menu on its side in this video but doesn't give me that failed to load sd card so it is detecting it kinda tried a few things like updating bootloaders and all that nada then I tried removing the hack with with biskeys, memloader, tegraRcmSmash and hacdiskmount all the steps worked fine but still doesn't boot into official but I can still get that odd message you got I am still working on figuring out what it is.

Hello I have a problem maybe you can help me my switch running perfect with a SanDisk 128gb but i wanted to update so I bought an intregal SD card 256gb when I start the switch with these card shows me the boot.dat image but when I put the 128gb back running perfect my switch is chipmoded running firmware 15.0.1

Hi sthetix I have the same problem but my switch is switch lite. Edizon cheat messed up my switch so i had to restart but then it won't boot from cfw. I'm stuck at ofw. I formatted my sd card and reinstalled my atmos with fusee bin but my switch still won't boot from my sd card. Any suggestion on how to fix this?

Hello so I did this one of my pins were missing and it was the same one got it soldered and everything and it seems like it still says no fat so should I reformat the SD and if so how would I go about that I see a lot of talk about just reformatting the sad but no one ever says yeah you just have to remake a partition then emummc should I just get a new SD I just am confused of the process of what a reformat entails and what trials are there. @@sthetixofficial yes on stock it is and it originally had 32 fat and has worked all through out 2020 and up until July 2021 and there was a pin that was damaged and I had gotten wired soldered to the as card reader the very same one and now it just claims no fat and the suggestions I’m getting are to reformat the SD card

Amazing video as always. I'm having a very strange issue with my SD card. It simply stopped working when I was copying some files using my PC. I tried to restore it using diverse tools but the PC just don't recognize it. I tried to launch Atmosphere with the RCM loader dongle without success. After a few attemps, the CFW started and I was able to manage the SD content through Goldleaf. I deleted some unused NSP files and cleaned some data. After that, it works fine on my console but does not work at all when I insert it to my PC. Any ideas? Thank you!
I'm having this problem, but only with two of my sd cards. I have 5 different sd cards and three of them work. They are all the same brand and I bought them from walmart so I know that the cards are genuine.

not security issue but if you often change or replace the SD card, you could lose the pin because Big N designed the console so bad.

fat32 is recommended for everything.. install games using usb connection. directly from pc

u need to check the pins with a microscope and test each pins continuity with a multimeter
did you bridged both points on the switch mainboard and connected the wire to it or do you used one point?

mine is the other way around, the boot up is fine but switch doesn't detect the sd card
same thing, check the sd card connection.
Do you ‘click’ the connector back or just lay it on there and push it a bit?
I am not seeing any broken or missing pin on my switch's motherboard but Hekate is showing me the 1bit sd card error. :-(
have you tested the pins with a multimeter?

it means there is a problem with the sd card connector on the motherboard

I have the same problem but my switch is switch lite. Edizon cheat messed up my switch so i had to restart but then it won't boot from cfw. I'm stuck at ofw.
I formatted my sd card and reinstalled my atmos with fusee bin but my switch still won't boot from my sd card. Any suggestion on how to fix this?

I tried with 4 different micro SD, the micro SD works in other Nintendo but not in the one I mentioned, do you have any idea what it could be?
try spraying the sdcard slot with contact cleaner

better don't change ur sdcard too often
Thats why I don't always remove my sd card, may be that's the reason having a broken pin

Hello so I did this one of my pins were missing and it was the same one got it soldered and everything and it seems like it still says no fat so should I reformat the SD and if so how would I go about that I see a lot of talk about just reformatting the sad but no one ever says yeah you just have to remake a partition then emummc should I just get a new SD I just am confused of the process of what a reformat entails and what trials are there. Sorry I sound hysterical it’s just I miss modded smash 🥺 lol

@@sthetixofficial yes on stock it is and it originally had 32 fat and has worked all through out 2020 and up until July 2021 and there was a pin that was damaged and I had gotten wired soldered to the as card reader the very same one and now it just claims no fat and the suggestions I’m getting are to reformat the SD card
i got the same problem and same pin i will buy thoes things and risk it. i mean if i dont do it i still cant play and if i risk it and fail i still wont play so yea wish me luck i will do it in about 2 months

Hey my switch detects my sd card but when I boot into rcm its says missing bootloader
it means u don't have the complete cfw files especially the hekate ipl ini file inside the bootloader folder

Amazing video as always. I'm having a very strange issue with my SD card. It simply stopped working when I was copying some files using my PC. I tried to restore it using diverse tools but the PC just don't recognize it. I tried to launch Atmosphere with the RCM loader dongle without success. After a few attemps, the CFW started and I was able to manage the SD content through Goldleaf. I deleted some unused NSP files and cleaned some data. After that, it works fine on my console but does not work at all when I insert it to my PC. Any ideas? Thank you!

I'm having this problem, but only with two of my sd cards. I have 5 different sd cards and three of them work. They are all the same brand and I bought them from walmart so I know that the cards are genuine.
Any recommendations on what might fix this problem without taking apart the switch?
maybe u need to check the sdcard file system.. is it fat32 or exfat?

downgrade ke 10.0.3 exfat lalu update lagi ke 10.0.4 exfat
