    The problem I have with Tobii is that it has to be installed at the bottom of the monitor. I have a 55" 4k monitor and part of the screen bottom is ever so slightly covered up by my Honeycomb Yoke so I will not be able to use the Tobii because you have to install it at the bottom of the monitor and no where else. I use TrackIr5 since you can mount it at the top of your monitor.

    I just ordered from the US for $ 223.00 dollars on sale for Christmas. I added this your TH-cam link as the reason i purchaced on theTobii's order form comment section following up the purchace. Thanks for the great review and recommendation.

    Nice to hear the Tobii eye tracker works in the dark. When MSFS first released I tried an open track solution using a web cam, but it required a brightly lit room. Great video! Thanks mate!

    As someone who wears glasses, I find I have the best of both worlds, immersion and seeing my other monitors.
    A real game-changer!

    I've been using Track IR 5 with the Pro Clip for about 2 years now and I have had ZERO issues with it. It clips to my headset and after about 1 minute I don't even know it's there anymore, and what's great is that it works in the light and it works in the dark. The Tobii eyetracker is almost twice the price and doesn't really offer much more than the fact that it doesn't have to be on your head, which as I said, is something that most people don't even take issue with. The biggest issue that I don't like about Tobii is that some games support only Tobii and won't support what is the industry leader in the head tracking market so it feels like those games "force" you to use what they want you to use and not invite you to use what you already own, and the leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

    • @AllenPortman
      @AllenPortman ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Tobii is another company that tries to force you into buying what they support!! That really puts a bad taste in my mouth!

      @@AllenPortmanI'm thinking you must mean TrackIR-5. The original post had a gripe against Tobii and the games that force you to use the Swedish gizmo only.

    I just started using trackir 5 this last year and it made a huge difference. When I first saw eye tracking gear, I was skeptic but your review has given me more to consider. Great job and happy flying!

    I have had mine for about 10 days. I am still tweaking some of the settings to make it as realistic as possible. There is a difference between head tracking (which exaggerates your movements) and eye tracking (which is natural movement). It takes a little getting used to. It works well with my 49" Ultrawide curved monitor. Head tracking works perfectly. About the outside 4" or 5" of eye-tracking does not work well when your head it turned to the max one way or the other.
    I raised my monitor onto a stand, which raised it about 5-6". This lets the low-mounted bar see my head and eye movements even with a Saitek yoke and panels.
    I have a VR setup, but find that I was not using it that often, even though it significantly improved the feeling of immersion. Wearing the heavy, hot headset (HTC Vive) got tiresome and I get eye--strain after about 45 minutes. This has been a great alternative. I feel like it gives you 80% of the feeling of VR, with few of the downsides. I love not having to mount reflectors ala TrackIR.
    I highly recommend having the toggle switch available - I set mine up with the Orbx Flow Pro where I can easily toggle it on or off - when you are zooming in on the Com/Nav/GPS stuff, if there are any bumps at all, it is really hard to turn the dials.

      49"? that's far outside the spec. I found mine to work horribly (especially in DCS) and returned it.
      Not only does headtracking work very poorly, it also get's blocked by my simracing peripherals.
      Also it doesn't work with triple setups.
      Sadly not a great design for many - but it does work, wonkily, for casual setups.
      The only great integration I have seen was star citizen. In everything else it feels really lacking.

    Hi Steven, excellent review and very well made.
    I was user of TrackIR since the beginning and moved to Tobii 5 last year. I like it much more than TrackIR. It has some pros over it. I never get any tracking error for example and I like to have nothing on my head. In addition it tracks my eyes which is like normal human eyesight process.
    Thank you and take care.

    I have been a TrackIr user for many years...MANY years. I tried the Tobaii Eye Tracker when they came out. It worked well enough...but I am back with my TrackIR setup. Maybe the software and hardware changed since I had one? I think the TrackIr works so well with MSFS as well as games like DayZ.

    Great video...I fly the A320 about 99% of the time...Would like to see a full video on problems like when l look to my throttle to my right etc.(on a tv table) lol. Or to the left to my laptop on a (coffee table) etc... Because of all systems being monitored (looking at charts etc) on take off and landing. I always look forward to your videos and frankness on hardware. Thank-you for your amazing effort and dedication to the community. You are 1 of 3 amazing videos, l look forward each week on information and development. Being yourself, flybywire development team and of course MSFS team (Asobo). All the best and success in 2023. Have fantastic day from Kevin Hudson.

    With your tutorial I have finally setup my Tobii Eye Tracker 5 after having it for months. The problem I have is when I stream and look at my side monitors or look down at my Saitek switch panel or throttle quadrant. Your suggestions have helped but I need to get used to it still.

    Excellent video presentation. I use an app on my iPhone for tracking. I used to have TrackIR, but it was a bit sensitive in room when sun was shining in. I would love to consider this but my monitor is 49” Ultrawide. Thanks again.

      how do use your iphone for eye tracking on a monitor? i am desperate for something but everything related to eye tracking seems to be windows based, not mac based. I fly x-plane 11 and 12

    I have Red that the itracker is making your Eyes Strain. It might be a stupid question but is that course of you staring Harder at the screen or does it have something to do with the beam? I am about the Push the button to order One. Are there any really cons about it? I'm gonna use it with a 27 flat screen. Distance around 50 -60 cm. Do you think it's a good for purchase?

    I am setting up my workspace for MSFSS2020, so I am having to mount the Tobii 5 device on my curved monitor. The control for the monitor are in the center below the monitor so mounting the Tobii 5 below the monitor would make it impossible to get access to the monitor controls if Tobii 5 is placed there. Mounting it in front of the bottom case of the monitor below the display I have not yet found how to mount Tobii 5 on my Samsung Osyssey Neo G8 properly.

    • @simflightpro
      @simflightpro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Hellmut, I had the same issue initially and it was a nightmare to change the settings on my monitor! I took out that stand that holds the tobii and instead stuck the magnet that’s included in the Tobii box, it nicely sticks to the magnet now. Lemme know if that worked for you.

      Hi, it works with both your head and eye movement. I really like this tool, not trying to upsell, but it has made simming a lot easier and worthwhile esp when you try to taxi and it’s comfortable to look around and appreciate the details on airports. Let me know what you decided. Good luck!

      @@simflightpro I'm not sure a USB 2.0 hub is something people should be buying in 2023, unless you know for an absolute fact that you'll never need more, a prediction that is near impossible to make. Although, if you don't need it TODAY (you meaning anyone who might buy this), at the price, it's almost disposable if you need to get a USB 3 (or greater) version.

    Will someone tell me what is compatible with a mac and xplane 11/12? Seems like everything is only Microsoft compatible. How difficult is it to simply make a product that is compatible with both and reach a much larger customer-based in flight simulation and gaming!!

    Why do these manufactures always seem to dedicate to MSFS (Windows) whenever a huge audience of flight simmers are now flying using macs and x-plane 11 and x-plane 12? Companies like Tobii are missing a butt load of customers by closing them (us) out!!! Being not Mac compatible is ridiculous! That's okay...technology will make you pay at a later point!!!

    • @southboy18
      @southboy18 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure overall, the amount of mac users on xplane is way small. You can already use this with PC xplane. Why would they cater to such a small audience?
