Rachel, I never thought I would like anyone talking about minimalism as much as I like "The Minimal Mom". BUT, you totally changed my mind! You are so wonderful, helpful. wise, REAL and I look forward to all your videos. Thanks so much for putting yourself out there!!

I so agree to making the job bigger in our minds, than the time it actually takes to do the job. So true!!

I recently sorted through my mending bin and threw away a jacket with a stain on it and several pairs of trousers and shirts that were difficult to patch. I immediately felt relieved and guilt free. I was then invigorated to declutter 6 bins of unneeded items! Thanks for your encouragement, Rachel!!!

I'm the same, Michele. I'm an older lady who was brought up by WW2 parents. "Make do and mend" was the motto, and it's been very difficult to shake off the feeling of guilt and wastefulness when throwing away things that I will never use again.

Dear Rachel, I can honestly say that you have done more for my mental health than many of the therapists I have seen over several decades. You get to the heart of the matter, clutter is so much more than just a messy house. I feel uplifted after one of your videos, and occasionally do a bit of decluttering too. Thank you so much.

I feel like a stalking fan girl now with all my comments, BUT you always hit the nail on the head! If you don't have a degree in psychology you surely should because you have insight like nobodies business. And my house is getting decluttered more every day and I am loving that I feel less weighed down by things. It's so freeing!

I like Dana K White’s words “ it doesn’t have to be perfect, only better.” If you spend a couple seconds or minutes clearing up a space, it’ll be better than it was and you’ve still done something.

I grew up with “if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right”. Meaning anything less than perfection was a failure. It has been sooooo difficult to overcome this attitude and it is a daily struggle.

Rachel, thank you - this is so useful. I always feel that "other people" have elegant, tidy homes but I can't be that person (mainly because stuff reminds me of people or times I miss). This all makes sense. I can! I will! Thank you for always being so encouraging and realistic. I feel like you are a lovely neighbour!

Hey, what a good helper in the kitchen..jumped right in....Negative thinking is so exhausting isn't it...energy robbing...love your comment on taking care of papers...lol...took you 15 minutes and not forever..lol.i used to do all our paper work at one day in the month until it was so much more freeing to do it when it came into the house...works so good for us...Regarding papers..I am interested in many things and so over the years I have PRINTED off many many articles....and some I have reread and are a good resource and some I passed on to others. BUT here is my thoughts that might be helpful for someone...Unless you have a working relationship with those articles they start filling file cabinets....lol...

And anyway, I’m gonna build an addition at some point so I’m wait on this......”. Yeah. That’s my pattern.

Sometimes when I do a job ,I like to joke “ that was a 5 year and 20 minutes job “ 5 years of procrastination- 20 minutes to actually complete it !
“Perfect is the enemy of good “ Better to do a half arse job vacuuming every week than a perfect job once every 6 months!

@@Nourishingminimalism I totally understand when I was younger I had a wonderful friend who would hold me accountable for keeping my place clean and organized it didn't cost me any money Thank God because I was a single mom of 3 girls . I was sure glad to have this lady in my life because I couldn't afford to pay any one do do it for me. When I would have days that I was falling behind she made me step up at times it was tuff. I am glad she was such a great friend. I will say you have to be able to take what they dish out to you and be happy someone cares enough to hold you accountable. She was such a great mentor I hope this helps someone out their. Ask someone who you can trust that loves you to keep you accountable for keeping things up and you could do the same for them . Just saying I hope I haven't said to much just hoping to help someone.
