If each tractor has a purpose and an implement then keep them. If any of your stable lacks purpose, then subtract the ones without. I was going to say the 756 and the A. You made a good point on the loader. Move the loader to the 756 and sell the lesser 400 and the A. The 756 will be a beast with a loader. 👍🏻
Moving the loader to the 756 sounds like a good idea to me. You want all the weight you can get in the rear end of a two wheel drive loader tractor. Also it has power steering and probably better hydraulics.
At one point I had 14 tractors (10 antiques and 4 modern units). Now I'm down to just 2 newer units but wish I'd kept one or two of the antiques. It started to feel like my possessions were possessing me. As you pointed pointed, it was like having a full-time maintenance job and the fun was fading away. I have good memories and realized I can appreciate something without necessarily owning it.
Some tractors are meant to have a permanent home. There's a 3020 on the dairy I work on bought new. The 4430 4240 4450 2350 8100 6400 7800 and a Fendt something or other have all come and gone. The 3020 and an old Super M will never leave.
My H was my first Farmall tractor. My great grandfather bought it new in 45. I thought it would stay but I like the 200 I bought 2 years ago even more. My younger son and my brother want to buy the H, so if one comes up with the money, they can come get it. I put a wide front on it and a 3 point hitch. That made it really handy. I just saw a 230 for sale with fast hitch and a remote, that would be a handy tractor. I also have an IH 300 utility but I'm going to sell it and buy my older son's 460 from him. That live power is handy and I sure like the sound of that 6 cylinder engine. Then I'll find an Oliver Super 55 to use in the woods, for cutting and crimping hay, and as a backup for the baler. My older son is keeping his 560 with 2000 loader, Oliver 770, Super M (my grandfather's), M, and Super C. He bought a McCormick 30 loader and he's going to put it on the M. He figures it'll be handy for cleaning barn since it's so much narrower than the 560.
I feel your pain , I have been trying to put 2 new tires on the back of one of mine for a few years now and every time I get ready to pull the trigger something else takes priority. I have been running my Cubs a lot plowing snow & mowing grass, I haven't done any planting in a few years but everything is going up Tires, batteries & oil & filters. I think I'm going to probably part with anything that doesn't get used before long, It's going to be hard but as you said there is only so many hours in the day & dollars in the bank. TJ
Great point collector value, that makes that low hour 400 a keeper along with the Super M-TA! Sell a few, buy a couple. When you're ready that loader on the 756 will be an improvement over the 400, let that one go. Also the M, the oddball seat, condition lessen the collector value, sell. The A isn't functional for you, sell. What's a letter series collection without an H? Sounds like it a keeper for you! Changing up your collection the will keep things interesting! Good luck!!!
You do just what you need to do. For me I know just what your saying too it cost to keep them going the right way . I like all video. God bless your hard work on them too.
I definitely see your point in wanting to sell the m and the A. Maintenance costs as well as everything else are going to continue to go up. Super MTA is definitely a beauty!
I would have a hard time recommending someone sell their 1st tractor, especially when sale value is that of an M, but SMTA is so similar yet so much better. If ypu have to mak room in the shed I would part with something that doesn't have live power or hydraulics
Keep the M (it’s a fanatic staple) but the loader on the 756 is the best idea yet. That way you can sell the old tired 400. Love watching keep it up brother!
@@FarmallFanatic I never thought I would hear about this! Really? But if you are going to sell two of them I would get rid of two of the cubs keep the one that has the belly mower on it definitely keep the M the MTA both of the 400s’s the reason why I say keep the M is like you said this is the tractor that started the channel and most of your subscribers associate that tractor with the channel anytime I tune in to your channel I instantly look for it. I have very special memories of my grandpa, M and his MTA.
I agree until you own several maintenance does add up. I didn't here you comet the batteries is another big issue to contend with on my side they along with everything else has doubled in prive in just the last few years
And that’s a tough one, I bought an M as my first tractor. She pulled my lawnmower into town to go mow yards and that’s kind of how I got my start and I got my first 15 acres And she cut and bailed and did everything, then I got my first 150 acres and I added a 706 In the m kinda went on auger duty, That was about 20 years ago, the 706 turned into an 8000 series John Deere they held onto that m, but now she’s showing her age and she’s gonna need some pretty major work and I can’t make the spreadsheet work, at the same time we don’t keep equipment around unless it’s field ready, so fix it or get rid of it has always been how we are, and The m doesn’t really have a place in our operation, And the kids are big fan of those two cylinder John Deere so that little red tractor doesn’t get much attention
What it boils down to is a labor of love... You definitely don't put the money into that tractor because it's worth it... The spreadsheet will never work lol... My M is definitely field ready, but I think if I sell it when it's field ready, maybe I get a little more for it
I know the feeling. It's a pain just to keep batteries up on a bunch of tractors. Carbs, batteries, points etc. Always working on them even if they've been fixed correctly.
Yes I totally understand where you're coming from. Although you don't have to change the oils in the rear ends as much as you do, (you can easily get 1000 hours out of it) it is still expensive to maintain that many. And yes with the 400 and Super MTA, you really don't need the M. However, I think you'll regret selling the M. I'd sell the A and one of the Cubs and maybe the 400 that currently has the loader if you put one on the 756. I wish you were closer, you can get an Ezee-On loader for the 756. They are a breeze to get on and off and I prefer them to the IH 2350.
I had a feeling this video was coming. I remember you saying its a fleet not a collection. If there are tractors in the fleet not getting used, well it is what it is. If it was me I would sell the M and the old 400. Put the loader on the 756. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
Tough choices FF, kinda of like if someone asked you which one of your kids do you love most. Love em all the same amount, it’s just that they’re all different and ya love em for what they are…the 2000 on the 756 would be a beast though😎take care hoss🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸

Man, that is a very hard decision…would hate to be in this situation. But, after thinking of what you have, and what “I” think you should do, here it is. Sale the M, the A and the 756. Then start looking for a 1206. Understand, what I think and $3.00 will get you a cup of coffee, but I would love to see you with a nice 1206!
In my mind it would make the most sense to get the hand clutch working on the M before selling, that adds value (at least in my area it does). I would prolly put the loader on the 756, or better yet, look for a 2250/2350 Mount-O-Matic so you could take loader on and off in a matter of minutes to use it for field work. In my mind 2 super Cs dont make sense, Id prolly lose one and get a 200/230 or a 340. All that would Probably make enough barn space for a 560 😉
I live 5 minutes from Tom Harp..ever wanna see a red collection, hit this guy up. Sadly, most the common farmalls just don't bring much money. I need new rears on my H but I can't justify it yet. I'd have more in tires than what I bought it for. It's a tough decision forsure !
Your only problem is you like antique tractors! You have too much time to enjoy your hobby and a big part of it is going to auctions. There's nothing wrong with that until you get to the point you can't walk in any of your buildings and your grandkids can't come in with you because it's too dangerous. If it were me, I'd let the M, the A and one of the cubs go. There's a reason the H was so popular. Why it sold so many years at a high volume. You'll have to explain about the cubs. I know someone who could use one of those cubs even though he hasn't said anything to me.
Totally get where you're going. I only have one H that I've poured tons of cash into, to restore, and a pair of CC garden tractors. I'm being to think the prices are designed to drive us folks out of the market. 😢
I sold my 51 M years ago and was sick ever sense and when I refteshed my dad's 52 Super M I made it look as close to that M as possible. I always regretted it. But a man has to do what he feels he has to do.
Excellent video Geno :) also yes remember my late dad & his brother my late uncle when 1962 wanted updates tractor on farm tractor by and got uncle Leo and Jack advice told my dad & his older brother a 1963 McCormick International B414 Loader tractor Desiel motor and saw at Roads and Works Department Highway Patrol also like it so bought one at Farmall dealership near home farm! Also then 1968 International was at Roads also Department Highway Patrol used for cutting ditches grass Leo and Jack work at plus own home farms too! Then one day at dealership at International I was 5 years old at time in 1982 saw 724 International saw told my dad check with Owner and he did that ! Then in 1987 he bought used one 724 Desiel motor tractor with Allied loader at farm Auction sale for $6.500 price bought for! In 1994 dad and his brother thinking retirement the 1950 Cockshutt 40 tractor and get 824 International with or with out Torque Amplifier but lots people hold on to those tractor because 4×4 type too plus operating with loader! So past up because wanting retirement on farm operations in 1997 ! But yes getting expensive back then to Geno I remember my dad saying 1963 B414 was $30.00 , 1968 McCormick - nternational 105 C same too price , 1968 International 624 was $60.00 , 1978 International 724 Loader was $80.00 for engine oil + oil & air filters transmission also hydraulics fluids ! Tires not cheap then too and in 1994 was over $10.000 3 tractors and combine do up! I not bragging and just give helpfull hints to do understand Geno :) and farmer got worked hard and matinne up takes a lots $!
Ever think of mounting a fast hitch on the M? Something off a Farmall 300? You could make a Franken-Farmall. You are worried about the fluids and fuel going bad since you do have dead time between planting and harvest. Part of the reason the tractor replaced the horse was you didn't have to plant crops to feed the horse while it was standing in the stall. Ever think of how much draw bar equipment needs tires.
Sell both of em to buy a real workhorse... a 130 pto hp or more like a 1086 or 1466 with duals. You can pull a 20ft disc, 11 shank chisel plow and 24ft field cultivator..
If each tractor has a purpose and an implement then keep them. If any of your stable lacks purpose, then subtract the ones without.

Its definitely an addiction my friend but like I always say "We are preserving history! "
Absolutely
One of the best explanations I’ve ever heard.
I treat my antique chainsaws the same way, some stay, some go.
One implement, one tractor. 2 implements, 2 tractors and so on and so forth. Too many tractors is never enough. 😂
The 12 implements, 12 tractor rule would still be in effect
100% agree

Selling a few would free up some $$ to buy some different ones 😀
Maybe a nice blue or green one 😀😀😀
Oliver's 😅
I grew up with a M and bought one when I was 20 best all around tractor. Be me I would keep the M and sell the H and some of your smaller one's.
If i was closer I’d give that M a good home for sure
I love international tractor's and red power all the way past 300 feet and cub cadet garden tractor's yellow power
I wouldn't sell them because it's a part of international history all the red tractor history
I was thinking you were getting to the point that keeping fresh gas in all the tractors was impractical.they are ment to be run.quality not quantity.
Yep
Sell the M - H - A - I would keep anything with the fast hitch since you have the equipment
good point
Well any more I don't buy anything without a fast hitch
Ever think of mounting a fast hitch on the M? Something off a Farmall 300? You could make a Franken-Farmall. You are worried about the fluids and fuel going bad since you do have dead time between planting and harvest. Part of the reason the tractor replaced the horse was you didn't have to plant crops to feed the horse while it was standing in the stall. Ever think of how much draw bar equipment needs tires.
2:25 that trail camera moving in the wind?
Yep
Sell both of em to buy a real workhorse... a 130 pto hp or more like a 1086 or 1466 with duals. You can pull a 20ft disc, 11 shank chisel plow and 24ft field cultivator..
I got something like 8 tractors. I can't even remember right now 😂 but only one red one and that's the wife's cub
Sounds amazing
If you wanna sell something how's about some of your smaller one's. ??
Well the cubs have a Fast-Hitch n they're super handy
Marvelous M💪🏼❤Red Power all day
You once said the M would never leave the farm
That was before I bought 10 more tractors
A Farmalls are nice little tractors
What is your favorite tractor that you own ?
Farmall Super M-TA
I wouldn't mind having that m if it goes up for sale
Keep the M. It was your first tractor
Keep the m
As I’m watching this my wife stops and says, “14 tractors?! I don’t think you should be watching this guy, he’s a bad influence.” Hahaha
Ahahahahahahaha
When?
You get a tractor with AT.A and you use that t a that will give you ten extra gears
You were liking that last auction 230 for an H replacement. LOL.
Yeah it would have to
I would sell the h and the a
But But But. The MTA is just too pretty to take out in the mud !
🤣 not according to previous videos
If you decide to sell the 55 Cub please let me know, I have been bugging you about it for a couple of years now.
That one's probably not going anywhere anytime , soon
Put a 1/64 4020 WF in the 400, so I can ride along. lol.
🤣
That 400 is badass what would ask for the M if you decide to sell it?
1700
@@FarmallFanatic where r u at?
I understand totally thinking about selling one of my tractors is like thinking about selling on of my kids lol
Lol
Need a high crop
For what
756 and the H.
KEEP THE M
I would sell the 400 take the loader off and put it on a different tractor and sell one of the super Cs
I don't think I'll sell one of the supers
