I first saw this card a/w elastic EDC system was a few months ago. I was impressed with the design. Your iteration takes it to a new level of ingenuity.

I concur. I'm just seeing these today. They're very simple, but it takes a lot of time and a effort to make it work. They appeal to me because of the easy access. I have a few different Tactical bags. Fairly small. It's part of the fun, making things work. I'm the guy who used to say "serrations on a folding knife are ridiculous." and that carrying a flashlight was just ridickerous! I have a large Whychus Creek Bowie by Bill Siegle. I have fighting blades in the tanto style with 6" blades from Bud Nealy, and Adam Vigil. I build these kits around these knives. I have a handful of heavy duty fixed blade knives. I love the help these blades are offering to already overloaded operators. I recently weeded out things I don't use and let stuff go for reasonable prices. Nothing dredged up family secrets like being overly focused on the motorcycle racing just down the road. I appreciate your input. I know I can ask you whatever I want right? I think less is more. I can teach these cats to properly care for their weapons. I have 2 videos now to prove my point. Dangerous people.

The choice of tools is getting more complex and the band design for securing the tools to it has stepped up quite a bit. It really starts to become mental exercise as well as design in progress. I love all of these ideas! One suggestion, though: attach one strip of each side of the velcro to each card / tin (one strip of the hook side, one strip of the loop side). Then, you can mix and match anything with anything else - just line up the opposing velcro pieces.

It’s the most ingenious new hack I’ve seen re: small EDC/PSK since I first thought to use pill capsule containers within larger sized “Altoids” style tins. The pocket rack project has been very rewarding to work on and has given me the opportunity to connect with some really interesting people with similar EDC interests. this is pretty cool. I've always chosen my pocket organisers by which wastes least space on the organiser itself, something that should be pretty easy considering the pocket already is a sort of pouch. But this is the first time I've seen that concept stuck with to the end.
@julians.2597 - Thank you for your post. It's been described in some of the comments as an inside-out EDC pouch. It's what happens when you separate the bands and pockets inside an EDC pouch from the exterior pouch shell. You can use it as a stand alone EDC organizer or in a pouch or several in one pouch. It gives you quite a few options for managing how you store and organize your EDC tools. Thank you again for sharing your ideas.

Very true. That will allow for a great deal of visual customization as well as building snap-in options for specific tools, so that you would not need to use bands. 3D printing open up some really interesting customization options.

Cura has a fuzzy surface option to create a rough texture on the top layer if that's useful to you. Also I found a really interesting key holder that puts your keys in a multi tool layout that could live in this system. It's on printables. "Single-Hand Key Organizer" is the title.
Thank you for sharing that. Finding items that are an appropriate size and are of good quality and function has been a really interesting part of putting these racks together. I'll have more about this in an upcoming video.
Great improvement. Continue to explore for more usage. I was thinking to do something similar to adapt to different situations (urban, travel, survival)
@stephanem5125 That's exactly where I'm going in the next video. I've been testing a small belt pouch that the pocket racks fit into perfectly. I can add pocket racks with different purposes (first aid, urban, etc) as you mentioned. Because the pouch expands, I can also carry multiple racks at the same time if needed. You end up carrying one small pouch and just change out the rack(s) you carry in it. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for your feedback. If you make one of these by hand, rather than the 3D print, it takes about 45 minutes. Take a look at the first two videos and the PDF in the description for more details. It includes information on where to get the silicone elastic bands as well.
Thank you! I cut some notches on a credit card and cut off some rings from a bike tube to hold my little things such as USB adapters. I never use normal rubber bands because they are too stretch and they don't last.
@kingoftweaks Thanks for posting. I actually tried using "ranger bands" cut from tires and they work, but they are difficult for me to cut to the narrow bands that I need for the pocket racks featured in the videos. The silicone bands that you see in the videos works really great though.
@@EarthlingEDC You need an electrician scissors such as Klein 100CS or Ideal 35-088. The very best scissors for cutting anything. Every EDC man must have one. Once I have used one, I can no longer use any other scissors. Yes, the only scissors that are able to cut the thinnest rings from bike tubes. The only downside is heavy at 3 oz. for EDC.

Thank you mate! I was searching for some pouch for card with stretchy fabric to inset in my zip pocket slash tool bag. This is just right. Also that pocket card organizer is quite refreshing idea in this niche. Organizing daily things, tuning up, perfecting daily carry each time... Nice! One thig off top of the head... there is a soft rubbery mesh that's put under the center rug/carpet so it doesn't move and slip while walking on it on slick hard flor, would be good backer on the abs board under the items. Don't know what is it called exactly in US.
The next video will cover a bit more about using it with a small edc belt pouch. It's like having a small pocket on you belt that you can easily store it in and pull it out when needed. I', familiar with the rubber surface you are talking about. that's an interesting idea. Thanks for posting it.

Sir, I just finished the bigger DIY version. Thank you very much for that beautiful concept! It's awesome! I can't believe that this organizer is so practical and looks fantastic. I used some random soft 3mm plastic and cheap rubber bands. I plan to have it for a few weeks and order better materials. I'm thinking about carbon fibre, but I don't know how easy it is to work with. Do you have any advice here?

You will need to cut the card from a sheet of ABS plastic or Kydex plastic. To determine the size, when you get the Lycra pouch, use it a template and outline the edges on the plastic with a pencil, then cut it with a coping saw or a regular hand saw. Once you have cut the card out, sand down the edges with a medium grit sandpaper. Clean the shiny side of the card with some alcohol and let it dry before applying the adhesive side of the lycra pouch to it. Thanks for your question.

Significant improvement over Molle. My dimensional testing of my various EDC typical pouches with Molle with five tool places show that with your pocket organizer one can store seven tools in the same space horizontally. That's an improvement of 21.5% savings in usable horizontal space. It's better to buy an uncomplicated EDC pouch without Molle and pockets and simply install pocket organizers, with/without the latex like pockets and tins as necessary. Separate EDC pouch compartment(s) for phone and other unrelated tool items would also be useful. I would prefer to use the pocket organizer for my EDC pouch rather than in my pocket for hiking and bushcraft purpose. Please make the pocket organizer available as using Kydex which I've cut to size leaves me the difficulty of using a drill and fine file to complete it.
@ulperformance4087 Interesting that you should bring up the option of using it as a EDC pouch organizer, that was the topic of the latest video. See: th-cam.com/video/RRDfjfRTiF4/w-d-xo.html . Almost done with the design for the 3d version of the rack. It's going to come in two sizes. The 3D printed rack featured in this video is the larger size, and a smaller more compact size will also be available. I've also done some additional work on the design of the silicone bands that increases the number of contact points on the EDC tools that are secured to the rack. Yes, as of this post, I'm trying to determine the best way to make them available to people who would like to have the 3D version at the same time I'm trying to determine what the final version(s) will look like. In the meantime, since you've got the Kydex, why not start start by cutting the Kydex cards to the dimensions indicated in this PDF. Once that is done, then round out the corners and the edges with some medium grit sandpaper. Ping me again when you have that done and I'll see what I can do to make some drawings and more detailed instructions available. Best of luck

Thanks for asking. I'm just finalizing the design. I'd like to see how a smaller pocket rack works out with the EDC tools I have. I've made a smaller one by hand, but not a 3D printed version. What is shown in the video is the larger size, but I can get the same items on a smaller rack and it takes up less room.

That's a good idea. Simple to implement and will make attaching items to cards, not be dependent on if it is hook or loop. NICE!

I used some random soft 3mm plastic and cheap rubber bands. I plan to have it for a few weeks and order better materials. I'm thinking about carbon fibre, but I don't know how easy it is to work with. Do you have any advice here?

Don't do the carbon fiber. I'd suggest trying Kydex plastic instead. It's incredibly strong and easy to work with. Happy to share more info once I see your photos. Thanks for sharing this.

The plastic cards you attach the lycra pouches to; where do you get those?
You will need to cut the card from a sheet of ABS plastic or Kydex plastic. To determine the size, when you get the Lycra pouch, use it a template and outline the edges on the plastic with a pencil, then cut it with a coping saw or a regular hand saw. Once you have cut the card out, sand down the edges with a medium grit sandpaper. Clean the shiny side of the card with some alcohol and let it dry before applying the adhesive side of the lycra pouch to it. Thanks for your question.

What’s the usb in the top at 1:27?
It’s a dimmable USB light that you can plug into a battery bank. It’s touch sensitive, so all you have to do is touch it to turn it on, off or dim it.

You can then go to a website like printathing.com, or a local 3D printing service in your area and have them make one or more of them for you. Significant improvement over Molle. My dimensional testing of my various EDC typical pouches with Molle with five tool places show that with your pocket organizer one can store seven tools in the same space horizontally. That's an improvement of 21.5% savings in usable horizontal space. It's better to buy an uncomplicated EDC pouch without Molle and pockets and simply install pocket organizers, with/without the latex like pockets and tins as necessary. Separate EDC pouch compartment(s) for phone and other unrelated tool items would also be useful. I would prefer to use the pocket organizer for my EDC pouch rather than in my pocket for hiking and bushcraft purpose. Please make the pocket organizer available as using Kydex which I've cut to size leaves me the difficulty of using a drill and fine file to complete it.
@ulperformance4087 Interesting that you should bring up the option of using it as a EDC pouch organizer, that was the topic of the latest video. See: th-cam.com/video/RRDfjfRTiF4/w-d-xo.html . Almost done with the design for the 3d version of the rack. It's going to come in two sizes. The 3D printed rack featured in this video is the larger size, and a smaller more compact size will also be available. I've also done some additional work on the design of the silicone bands that increases the number of contact points on the EDC tools that are secured to the rack. I'll get into this in more detail in another video. Thanks again for posting your comments and ideas.

@ULperformance Thanks for asking. Yes, as of this post, I'm trying to determine the best way to make them available to people who would like to have the 3D version at the same time I'm trying to determine what the final version(s) will look like. In the meantime, since you've got the Kydex, why not start start by cutting the Kydex cards to the dimensions indicated in this PDF. Once that is done, then round out the corners and the edges with some medium grit sandpaper. Ping me again when you have that done and I'll see what I can do to make some drawings and more detailed instructions available. Best of luck

Thanks for asking. I'm just finalizing the design. I'd like to see how a smaller pocket rack works out with the EDC tools I have. I've made a smaller one by hand, but not a 3D printed version. What is shown in the video is the larger size, but I can get the same items on a smaller rack and it takes up less room.

@user-hk9du6px9x - Thank you for your post. Many people use the pocket rack as an EDC organizer in a pouch or in your case a waist pouch. Its a great solution for sweaty pockets. :-)
