These are a simple but amazing alternative to the regular EDC pouches that are available. I’m going to find someone who can print me some off and also have a crack at hand making my own. Keep up the evolution of this!
@corbenj - Thank you for your post. There are some really neat builds that our community has made based on this design. I would encourage you to checkout this page www.youtube.com/@EarthlingEDC/community for more ideas and to see some of really interesting ways these are now being used.
@@EarthlingEDC is it the smaller version that you are going to produce and sell? Even though I’m going to get my own printed off, I still want to buy some when they come out as it’s such an amazing idea.
@corbenj - Yes, we'll be making the smaller one as well as the standard size and eventually we hope to be producing some interesting variations on the design as well. Thanks for asking.
Seems like there could be an application for this in trucker's and mechanic's tool box lids. Something a little larger than these could be installed on the inside of the lid to hold various items. Something like this would breathe new life into old tool boxes.
@grumpyuncle. - Thank you for your post. Yes, I agree, there are quite a few different possible applications for this idea. We've outlined many of them in our provisional patent form. It's a simple concept and I think that is the appeal from many people who have been trying it out. These early adapters are the folks who determine if an idea like this has legs. If it does, then I'm sure we will see it move into other applications. Thanks again for sharing your idea.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned. Available at any dollar store are elastic hair elastics, what s last might use to manage a ponytail. They're the right size, get thinner as you pull and you can get a ton of them for cheap without waiting for postage. They have a woven cover. Should be just the thing.
@davidjungemann6102 - We've actually been making our own out of elastic shock cord, which is the same material used in the hair bands you describe. You can find more details in this recent video here: th-cam.com/video/ir9DbaY8P8Y/w-d-xo.html . Thanks again for sharing your feedback. It is sincerely appreciated.
@lucidchance I'm glad you like it. Looking forward to see what your EDC looks like once you have built out your own pocket rack. Send photos :-) Thanks for posting.
@corbenj - That's an interesting idea, but I think the O-Ring will bunch up the heat shrink tubing as you pull on it, reducing the area that comes in contact with the tool that it is holding down on the Rack. You might have to manually un-bunch it each time you pull on it. We've been working on some designs around this idea and one possible solution might be to replace the heat shrink tubing with 3D printed pads that are held in place by the bands and have a small "handle" or pull tab to on each band that you can pull up to insert an item. We've been working on an STL file for this. I'll post more images once we have something that woks. Thanks for your post.

@deez74 - Thanks for your feedback - This project has been incredibly satisfying to be a part of. Now we are getting pictures and feedback from people who have been building their own pocket racks. They have all been customized versions so far and soon we'll be seeing people with the new 2.1 version 3D print version. The more people we have using it, the more useful it's going to become as they start making modifications, customizing it and making it a better EDC tool for them. It's really exciting to see what will happen. My part is to keep the project moving forward and help people with their ideas to make it better.
Do you have the lycra pouch stuck to another card of some sort and then is that card adhered to the EDC card or is the lycra attached via it's adhesive back straight to the EDC card?
@Castleknight I've done it both ways. I prefer adding the pouch to a piece of 2mm Kydex. Outline the pouch on the Kydex then you can cut it to fit with a hand say. Sand and round ou tthe edges with some medium grit sand paper. Clean off the smooth side of the Kydex with some alcohol. Then attach the pouch. Once that done, on the other side attach some hook and loop tape to th other side of the kydex card and you can use that to attach it t your pocket rack.
@Olyphoto7 - Don't forget that they are also pretty simple to make by hand with standard woodworking tools. You just need some Kydex or ABS plastic. there are more details in the PDF file that is in the description for this video. Best of luck to you.

@icervantesiii - I'm so glad you have printed one for yourself. I've actually considered making a larger rack as an insert for bigger pouches or bags. I think another subscriber had mentioned something like that that as well. What I'm finding interesting is the "finagling" part where I'm figuring out where the tools should go on the rack and what bands to go with what tools. and what tools to choose for the racks that you are building. At some point in that finagling process everything seems to come together. Enjoy the process and build something that works for your specific needs. In regard to when we will begin selling them, the first step was to get a Trademark on the Pocket Rack™ name, then submit a Provisional Patent with the USPTO. Both of those are done, so now we can complete the website that we will be selling them on. I'll make an announcement when the website is live. Thank you for asking.
@@EarthlingEDC Dear Phil, thanks and actually saw so much of the post and your generous sharing of files! Only I do not have 3D printer around me, thus try my luck to ask.
No worry! I would try to find the 3D printing company.
Let me wish you an early Merry Christmas and a peaceful 2024!🙏🏻
@louistse5388 - Did you find a company to print it for you
@@EarthlingEDC not yet😅🙏🏻
What material do you use to 3d print it?
PLA, but I'm going to be trying other plastics as well.
What is that flashlight
@edcking333 - Thank you for asking and for being a subscriber. It's called an S11 flashlight. Many different companies make them, but they all seem to be based on the same circuit board. Download this PDF bit.ly/PocketRack2dot1on page 5 you will find more details about that flashlight and where to get it. Enjoy !
Wait! Create a hinge along one of the sides, in between two of them, then you could store a notepad or wallet space!
@corbenj - I actually have a prototype of that idea. There is a finger slit in the middle of one of the cards so that you can extract cash, credit cards and ID by pushing them through the opening on one side . Elastic bands hold the two racks together like bread on a sandwich. Yes it can be done. 3D printing allows for many different ideas to realized very quickly. Thank you for your post and for subscribing. I hope you will have the opportunity to print one of these out for yourself.
Thanks for watching. To download the free 3D print file for this new 2.1 version of the Pocket Rack go to www.thingiverse.com/thing:6285608 ( Many thanks to Sergio D for all his work on the 3D file for us). I've also created a PDF file with a huge amount of information on how to get one printed for yourself as well as where to source all of the items you will need to make one.
