Craig has owned the car for 18 years and has put over 75,000 miles on the odometer through a combination of joy rides, track days, and rallies like the Colorado Grand, Copperstate 1000, and California Mille. Thank you for treating that machine as it should be treated and for sharing your adventure with us. I've written it so many times, but there is no car that even comes close to the 300SL for design and sheer excitement. I was already a young man when these cars were new, so you can imagine how old I am. I have very few regrets in my long life, but not having bought the gull-wing when I was offered one in the 1960s still makes me cringe. Realistically, I probably would no longer have it anyway, but what a thrill it would have been to be caretaker to one of these unique machines, if only for a few years.

Does that have dry sump on it and had a bit of a problem not to get engine oil up to it's temp while driving on roads? Not that much of a problem if only using on tracks? I have heard nothing hat some have plugged oil cooler because of that.. great car.

Bloody good. I don't care what you pay for the car as long as you drive it a lot. Nothing worse than having a car that sits around doing nothing. You've sure got your money's worth out of it and the car is probably better off as a result.

i think this is my fav car,, i think all cars should be tube frame good enough for nas car. they should make this car with a aluminum tube frame and a carbon fiber body with ether a TESLA ELECTRIC MOTOR or some magnesium block twin turbo v6.
