I bloddy LOVE Harrier!
Same here, solid bits of kit!
I volunteered on the DNF transport crew over the weekend and spent a lot of time helping at the check points, I'm a big harrier fan and have the carbon poles and 10ltr bag, but you need to add some extra items to the first aid kit, the guys who were in bits at the CP's needed a long bandage and gaffer tape to hold the blister plasters on to the bottom of their feet, adding this to the kit would be a good idea. Maybe 1-2mtrs of gaffer tape rolled up plus the same in bandage and a pair of scissors. Plus we had a lot of poles in the lost and found so keep them close.
Thanks for volunteering Martin, it really helps make the weekend what it is so much appreciated 🙏 Harrier make great kit. I think it's a hard one with the first aid kit as there's a lot in there already and they don't want to make it too bulky. It's a difficult balance as you want to be prepared but also be travelling as light as possible in those mountains
I like that storage belt for the poles. My friend was using poles with a quiver the other day and on a couple of occasions he bent over and the poles slid out over his shoulder, onto the floor!
It's a good one with the belt, keeps them nice and secure and no issues with them falling out yet! I've never tried the quiver set up before but can imagine they might fly about a bit
Loved how you broke down your mountain running essentials, Ben! Your detailed insights make prepping for races less daunting, hehe! Thanks for sharing your insights with us. Can't wait for your next adventure update!
Thanks Mihai, enjoyed making this one and thinking about some kit for the mountains! Hope your training is going well 🤓
This video is excellent. Week done, Ben. Love the bonus item. 👍
Thanks Neil. Ive found the bonus item really useful, don't use it on every run but glad to have it there when I need it!
HI guys, hope all is well Ben..and Ben lol. Glad to see your still at it and enjoying running. Miss you guys and I miss running. Chat soon mate...Jay
Hope you're keeping well mate, I'll drop you a message, be good to hear what you're up to and meet up for a catch up soon.
@@timeonfeet deffo mate it would be nice, ive not run since July last year, been spending most of my time focusing on the record labels. as you can see almost at 3k subscribers on this channel now, (it was 850 just 2 weeks ago) can deffo share what ive learnt.
Another excellent video. Looks like you've left no slate unturned on getting the right kit. 😊
Thanks both. Appreciate the Snowdonia-based pun too 🤓
Nice breakdown Ben, there's loads of kit you could take, one of my favourites is an X Mug, it's a collapsable cup that you can fill with hot/cold liquids & fill it with food as well, not at the same time though 😜
Cheers Martin. Those mugs are really useful, I've got a similar one that I used for the backyard ultra earlier this year though I could leave it in the aid station and come back to it every 4 miles. Still undecided whether to take it for the UTS as I've got so much to pack! But then I do need something for tea/soup 😅
Superb bits of kit there Ben. I look forward to seeing your full kit list for the big day. Keep on crushing it buddy! 😎🤘
Thanks for watching mate! Hope your training is going good 🏃♂️
Good to see that you're very well prepared! Hopefully you won't need to use the survival bag or first aid kit in the mountains though! I'd be curious to know how much your whole race kit will weigh, I hope it won't be more than a couple kgs to carry through the race!
Thanks Chloe, yes fingers crossed the safety items won't be opened! That's an interesting one, I've never weighed my full pack before but will give it a go when I've got it filled. At a guess I think it may be 4 or 5kg with the litre of water too
Was the shop V12 Outdoor? It's a fab shop for any adventure purchases!
The name doesn't ring a bell but it could well be! Do they serve coffee too?
do you take a whistle?
I think the rubber stoppers for the poles are called 'ferals' ?
thanks for sharing.
Ah thanks, wondered what the proper name for them was! Yes there's a whistle on the survival bag and also one built into my vest
Morning! The belt - is the phone compartment large enough for a large mobile? Doesn't look like it's still available from Decathlon...👍
Hi Carl! Yes it is big enough for a phone. It looks like Decathlon have done an updated version now so this one is not the latest model. I think the new one has similar features
It looks like the Salomon Pulse belt has very similar features though not quite as many storage pockets on the front
