    It’s ironic that Nike’s road shoes have much better grip than their trail shoes. Still glad that a big name like Ben Parkes is reviewing them.

    Great honest no BS reviews thanks a lot for keeping it real 👏 I like walking around in the Juniper 2 Trail and Pegasus 3 as they have a nice wide toe area, lots of heel and sole padding and there is no pronation wearing them. Juniper 2 is a hard sole but walking in them is fine, great looking shoes 👍

    Just a heads up, the Nike wih best traction in my eyes were the AirMax 2015 model. The thread had studs on front, sort of like squares made of medium-hard rubber, but gripped so hard I could climb up 40-45 degree diagonal made of bricks. That model was crazy and one of, if not, the best Nike I've ever had.

    I haven't touched Nike since pounding the Terra Kiger 5 in the ground, but the Wildhorse reminds me a little bit of that shoe. The traction wasn't the greatest, but the outsole and upper stood up to more miles than anything owned since. It might finally be time to put my faith in Nike again.

    Informative as always. 😊. I’ve never really considered Nike for trail options, I tried the Saucony ride 15 TR in the winter and didn’t get much use, guessing similar to the Peg trail. I would otherwise go to Salomon for a trail shoe, the S Lab pulsar is incredible and lightest shoe I’ll likely own - I have the SG version for XC, Innov8 the next choice for me.

On the wetter, softer trails where I live I just don't trust in Peg trail, but the Wildhorse 8 hasn't let me down yet. I also just got a pair of Kiger 9s for those days where I need a light, nimble shoe. Super stoked about Nike's 2023 Trail line up!

    • @atheosmachina
      @atheosmachina ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @atheosmachina
      @atheosmachina ปีที่แล้ว

      @Daniel Konecny It would be interesting to see how they compare to the likes of the Speedgoats and Inov-8s that wear very slowly and can last several hundred miles. It's Nike though, so I doubt it. I love their trail shoes just for walking - have the Peg Trail 3 and Terra Kiger 8 and while they are super comfortable, they are not great at outsole durability. I guess let's see how people find this newer generation.

    I’ll have to try the KT’s, the Wildhorse was absolutely frightening in tech downhills in boulder. Could never get lockdown. Easier downhills with less rock was ok. Compared to Vibram mega grip, they are slippery. I really feel like Nike is just still dipping their feet in and not really diving in. They have all of the technology, the distribution to make some really great trail shoes and here over a year they just always get something wrong. Like mentioned, they really need a partner with vibram. That mega grip is worth spending an extra $30 on a shoe. Absolute confidence and dry and wet conditions.

    I really like the Nike trail shoes and have been using them for a long time. I've had pretty much every version of the Wildhorse and Tiger. The fit is so good for my feet and the React foam is one of my favorites. Soft, bouncy and responsive. For me much better than for example Hoka.
    Yes the grip is not outstanding, but often made worse than it is. Just don't use them when its very wet or muddy. This has changed with the WH8 that has a very good grip. I sold the Zegama after a couple of runs. The ZoomX midsole was terrible and the fit the same. Way to firm and hard and the fit was not at alle the same as WH or Kiger. A very different fit.
    I disagree on the build quality. I simply can't recall that any of my many Nike trail shoes have worn out prematurely, actually the opposite is more the case.

      pareil pour moi , ma chaussure de trail prefferrée est la Terra kiger 7 et 8 , la zegama etant une deception , mais cette WH8 est pour moi la meilleure chaussure de trail du marché , elle combine absolument tout , une stabilitée sans faille , un amorti doux et protecteur qui ne s affaise pas au fil des km , de la place a l avant pied , encore plus present que sur les TK 7 et 8 , un tres bon maintient du pied , et ENFIN , une semelle qui accroche en toutes circonstance , et c est ce que j attendais d une entreprise comme Nike , et avec cette semelle exterieur , je peus dirte qu ils sont arrivé au meme niveau que vibram .

Grip not so good in mud but that's the compromise really. Hoka Speedgoat are still surprisingly comfortable on the road but better grip off. I haven't worn them for anything longer than half marathon though. Another option for road/trail if dry is just wearing (older or cheaper) road shoes. Absolutely love my Zegamas from 10k to 100 milers. Most comfortable shoe I have used to date. Just ordered the Wildhorse 8. Looking forward to them

      any update on the wildhorse?how soft is it compared to zegamas?which one would u recommend personally?i think heel drop is a little too low in it if we are used to 8mm drops?does it make a big difference in ur opinion bro?

      @@NoName-cz5mg Hi there. I have done about 100km on my Wildhorses and I really like them. The cushion is excellent and responsive (they are super comfy), the grip is impressive. Overall it is a wonderful show. Both shoes have a place in my rotation. For long, non technical runs, the Zegamas are tough to beat but if it gets a bit technical and mountainous, the Wildhorse shines. Both are excellent for long days on the trails. I didnt find any issue on the drop. I came from higher drop shoes and have had no problems. Hope that helps

    I’m a Nike fan but just don’t understand how they still haven’t fixed their outsoles, especially on the trail shoes - just no good in the wet.

    • @BenParkes
      @BenParkes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Wildhorse was very good in the wet and the Pegasus 39/40 are good for road shoes.

    Pegasus 4 Gore-Tex is a much better shoe. Different toe box and softer on heal catch.

    Bro, where u take drop info from? Nike stoped to disclose it some time ago..for all shoes ( as*holes, right? Its its critical info for all runners)... i understand that they cant guarantee drop, due to poor quality control ...lol

    • @BenParkes
      @BenParkes  ปีที่แล้ว

      We usually get it from sites such as sports shoes, pro direct running etc. Other retailers basically.

      @@BenParkes they have contradictional info, like runrepeat put 9.5 mm drop for some 10 mm nikes etc...also i remember previous terra kiger always had 4 mm drop...so i doubt they have 6 mm now....

    Maybe your heel slip issues come from wearing shoes that are a little too big. Having watched the entire video and seen the shoes on your feet, I'd definitely suggest a half size smaller. The shoes look too roomy for you.
