I watched the entire video through only to realize that at the very end (or around 4:38) the closed captions for the zipdash + jump is just [Sound Barrier Homicide] and that had me giggling for no reason for about five minutes. Great video. I knew going into it that X would topple them all like dominoes, but admittedly I forgot how fast Junio can be. Current Modern being in last doesn't surprise me though..
Lemme tell you something funnier (imo) the sound file for the 4kids version ring burst is called "ring burst for children" Tbh if you have the mod and srb2 as well as the sound test unlocked, look through it. One of my personal favorites is "sonic commits arson". :)

X sonic here has gotta be the best interpretation of how sonic should move in a 3D environment. I love how he can just zips through to a specific direction and can be controlled by making him skids while keeping a bit of momentum to choose the next direction to go. The one who creates the X sonic character really put so much care here.
@loutabu6161 yea, maybe I think it's just that wide racetracks are more suitable for sonic's gameplay since freely running around are more fun than just linear directions. this sounds like a bad take but I like sonic frontiers for having wide empty field to run around.
@@loutabu6161 In Sonic Generations you can not run into walls, nor have changes of directions by stopping and looking into the direction you want to go, then gaining instant speed again. X Sonic and Sonic Generations do not have the same play style, not even close.

X Sonic with the usual Zip Dash, and Adventure by momentarily revving a spindash when the first door is opening, then spamdashing the rest of the way. Modern Sonic comes close to being able to boost and slide under, but ends up being crushed by the door
In terms of keeping a constant speed all the time it would 100% go to x sonic for his zip-dash not needing any meeter, but for height and getting across gaps It's ironically still X sonic, his super jump and his ability to wall jump quicker than v6 puts his potential at speed higher than v6, and really v6 only get the dub at his speed being more controllable since he isn't forced in one direction
small clarification for the xsonic invincibility frame thing you mentioned when dashing, it’s not that he gets s, it’s that his hitbox shrinks down to that of the average spindash, which can go under/inside the lower parts of the lasers for some reason. SRB2 issue more than anything.
I actually thank you for clarifying that because all my time with X Sonic was nice, but I was confused on why I'd sometimes get hit by moving laser and sometimes I'd run through that. But since you mentioned it, I think it's less of an issue on SRB2's end and more of an unintentional/probably intentional thing to do with how the zip-dash works, since when using it, X Sonic Auto rolls under small gaps that are meant to be rolled through.
not actually an SRB2 issue, it's intentional X sonic DOES have an extremely weak spindash, but it's not really that good for getting through spin gaps, instead of just being able to just zipdash into a gap and roll under that'd absolutely KILL X sonic's speed if he had to stop and use it every single time
Also for the real spindash:tossflag + hold shift + spam jump=good spindash. Also hold prev and next weapon + toss flag with x sonic. Released =taunt numbers.
I'm actually shocked that Super Sonic came in second place with how barebones he is, but his flight and invincibility made up for his lack of speed I guess.
Timeattacking with Modern, Adventure and Junio is also how I found out how OP Junio really is. If not for Super who can just fly over everything, he'd be 2nd to X and even then Junio has the best double jump in the game that lets you skip almost anything at any time + his speed seems almost uncapped compared to every other Sonic. Junio can probably tie with X Sonic here which is fitting imo since he embodies the CD intro after all!

Thought I do want to give you a small idea for just, a random SRB2 Video you could make in the future *How's about beating Sol Sestancia's 2 HARD MODE Pizza Bonus Stage, as Shadow on his Bike?* if you want I can give a small explanation on how it can be done as I've done it myself, but want to see if someone else thinks is a good challenge run

Modern: God, the competition makes him look like he fell off... While he has good burst options, he can't nearly reach the same speed the others can... X Sonic: Definitely the fastest Snoc here. His raw speed, along with the Ring Burst make him a force to be reckoned with. A worthy contender for the fastest hedgehog around. Also, some notes about the speedrun: - You could've used the speedshoes at the beginning. When using it he's always at top speed with amazing turning -Ring Burst could have been use more sparingly to allow for more skips later down the line Junio: Fast, yet very punishing. If you don't know how to keep your speed, and use his ability, then you're not going anywhere fast. Super Sonic: Kinda surprising he's here, but whatever. Being pretty much invincible allows you to burst through it all at record speed. But since he's essentially a beefed up Vanilla Sonic, he doesn't have a lot of tools for gaining speed. Of course, the true winner of this marathon is SMS. He's by far the most overpowered Sonic out there, though at the cost of being hella unwieldy. He and Xsonic have a lot in common, actually.
I'm genuinely surprised that Junio was in the lead for the majority of the race, the only reasons he didn't get first is not being able to skip to the button to open the door and having to get hit to activate the Armaggedon Shield. He also caught up to X Sonic after the button really fast

I was pretty surprised adventure got 4th place in the race, I was actually expecting him to get 2nd, but nope super stole his spot XD I also kinda expected SMS to make an appearance in this, but then again he'd easily be the fastest ESPECIALLY now that I know those speed shoes are in the box on the right at the start, can't argue that he's a super form either since you also let super sonic race also, at 4:13, the trees on the left are actually blocking a shortcut with a ton of rings, so you can actually get enough rings to ringburst easier (everyone else would also benefit from this shortcut as well) ALSO also, at 5:08, you can just keep using zipdash or boost through this section and make it through without having to deal with the badniks XD, I think adventure can also make it through if you were already spamdashing fast enough beforehand the placements I was expecting in this race were: 1st. It is possible to spindash under the door fast enough to avoid wasting a bunch of time getting the Armageddon shield. (it worked for me using adventure sonic)
I feel like there should be a mode where you can make custom levels like a flat terrain to see how fast the five sonic variations are and which ones can complete the level the fastest
The Sonic X mod makes me hope for a Shadow X mod. Aka, fast movement and speed without boosting, ring dash and his other abilities seen in the show. Mainly because I want to race my cousin and going double Sonic X isn't as fun.

The fact that you took multiple tries to do the gameplay, yet accepted some mistakes here and there, makes the gameplay feel less of a speedrun and more like "average character enjoyer", which is how most people play the game. And yhea if some of the things seem really good like Super Sonic's consistent speed and float, that's because its usually the main upside and there's a downside to it that 'multiclass' players and average character enjoyers are already used to. Super Sonic is literally just the "Im literally superior... wait, MY RINGS, NOO-" character. As for X Sonic, which I've never played (I honestly haven't touched this game in a while). He seems BROKEN, and while that gives him a good feel and general gameplay, tfym invicibility during DASHING? Maybe its his hurtbox shifting in a weird way or smth in which case I can get it, but if its not, he needs some frickin nerfs. Tho the state he's currently in does make him feel like he is in Sonic X. I love these kind of videos who make an accidental masterpiece (haha accidental Junio jump go brrr). Edit: Oh yhea and the stage choice, Amazing for what you were tryna test.
Now, use all the super versions of these Sonics and do another run, and instead of using super sonic again, you can use the fastest, super mystic sonic or something like that

that's literally how generations did it and it got old. it doesn't work well for doing anything else besides running down wide empty racetracks.

Actually, i waa able to get it as modern sonic in one of my runs, you have to be precise.
Modern Sonic V6 and X Sonic are going to be rivals, but X Sonic being able to climb walls gives him an edge that the others may never be to overcome.

Anyways. The fact that you took multiple tries to do the gameplay, yet accepted some mistakes here and there, makes the gameplay feel less of a speedrun and more like "average character enjoyer", which is how most people play the game.
And yhea if some of the things seem really good like Super Sonic's consistent speed and float, that's because its usually the main upside and there's a downside to it that 'multiclass' players and average character enjoyers are already used to. Super Sonic is literally just the "Im literally superior... wait, MY RINGS, NOO-" character.
As for X Sonic, which I've never played (I honestly haven't touched this game in a while). He seems BROKEN, and while that gives him a good feel and general gameplay, tfym invicibility during DASHING? Maybe its his hurtbox shifting in a weird way or smth in which case I can get it, but if its not, he needs some frickin nerfs. Tho the state he's currently in does make him feel like he is in Sonic X.

Now, use all the super versions of these Sonics and do another run, and instead of using super sonic again, you can use the fastest, super mystic sonic or something like that

@@lexo632 Actually checked this out, and the speedlines were on removed at the start of the run, before coming back later on. I suppose it's something to do with the speed shoes giving him a faster boost
