You can’t compare male and female vocalists/ especially these two- who are both stellar. This is out of michael’s comfort zone as far as range is concerned- because he is a man- and he is still singing in Mariah’s key, and hanging right there with her.

In her early years, you can really hear the soul/gospel influences because her voice was much more raw than in later years. She did a lot of experimentation with her voice in the early years. She refined her voice and overall sound in much later years, I think Music box is around when she started to. I kinda wish she kept singing this way though because this is he most natural tone.

She refined her voice and overall sound in much later years, I think Music box is around when she started to. I kinda wish she kept singing this way though because this is he most natural tone.
Her natural tone was around 1990-1992, in 1993 she darkened her tone and then brightened it more 1994 and onwards.
@@rosemont2283 No, her voice is definitely more darkened in the earlier part of her career because she darkened it. Her "true" tone and timbre of her voice was shown most in her prime which is 93-95.
