As a town fan its been really rough going I was 8 when we was relegated in 2002. the play off defeats to west ham . the dark 2010's when everything went backwards. the foundation trust disbanded under Marcus Evans tight purse strings budget that sent us to league 1. the failed managers that came and went. Town fans have always been patient. but the last decade really tested it. and when Mckenna joined the club was transformed under the new ownership . foundation trust was restored after years of neglect and the team spirit, the coach of the club and the astute management of the club have guided us where we are. we've got American owners and its glad to see the bring in proper football people and let the get on with it and not interfere with them. im so so glad we've done it the right way like you said, breaking ffp, feeder club or cheating manner. im so proud of my club and its been rough going as I said but boy does it feel proud to say you support Ipswich Town.

Ipswich fan here and Mick McCarthy did a good job. Yes the football could be a tough watch but he was reliant on free transfers and loan signings. The issue was the ownership of the club.
When McCarthy left I felt we were destined for relegation and under Marcus Evans ownership things were bleak.
Since the new ownership model has come in, the whole ethos of the club has changed for the better. McKenna is the cherry on top.
Last couple of years have been unreal.
Have to get the balance right this summer with bringing in higher quality additions but not diluting what we have built up.

McCarthy rescued Ipswich from despair and downturn. He was not fully backed in the end but succession after McCarthy failed and MckGoldrick went to the Premier League...

@@JoolsUK Did he though? If he'd left after the playoff season, it would have been with best wishes and respect for a tough job well done.
His last season was turgid. His football was rarely pretty to watch, but when he got results it was tolerated. The results dried up, he cultivated a siege mentality and put the fans outside that seige, including telling his own team's supporters to "F Off" when celebrating a goal against the lot up the road. The club and the support base have rarely been as far apart as they were that season.
"Be careful what you wish for" - Yeah, we wanted our club back, to feel any connection and pride in it. Hirst was a brief disaster. Lambert tried but was never the right face. Cook laid the foundations with the new owners and now we have what we wanted.
Mick did a great job with what he had, but he stayed a season too long. Oh, and Jewell before him; his best decision was to leave, telling then-owner Evans basically "I can't do this, get Mick in"

This was a very well done video with excellent insight , much appreciated. As an Ipswich town fan for over 40 years , this is seventh heaven for me , massive achievement by all concerned with the club . Cheers .

So many clubs in the past have got promoted and then splashed the cash, virtually buying in a new team. That tactic has often failed and I always believe that they squad that got you promoted should be given the chance with just a few additions. Ipswich will stick with the vast majority of the squad they have plus maybe 5 or 6 quality but not outrageously expensive signings. The policy at Ipswich is also that the players must really want to come here and if they aren't 100% sure then we look elsewhere. Togetherness and squad spirit are crucial.

Really loved the video. Excellent analysis with a nice amount of depth.
The only point I would call you up on is regarding Leif Davis. I've seen so many Leeds fans saying that they wished they'd kept him. However, I think a large part of the reason he is as good as he is, is Kieran McKenna's coaching. He's making decent players into top players. Just look at Sam Morsy's journey under McKenna.

Great point on Leif Davis, at the time It was right for him to leave & it's easy to look back at with regret now. McKenna has done an incredible job with him (& the rest of the squad)!

McKenna has built an amazing team and culture in less than 3 years , it’s truly phenomenal following Ipswich , especially following a horrendous 2 decades.
Started this season just wanting us to finish top half but as the race progressed I began to believe more and more we could do it , hearing pundits write us off many times became annoying and was added fuel for the players.
You views are very in line with mine , I have so much faith in McKenna to add the right ingredients for us to stay up next season.
    I’ll predict 14th

Mick McCarthy was good. Boring football that got tiring, but it was good. The issue was always the ownership, the fact we didn't get relegated sooner is a credit to McCarthy. Very few players in that 18/19 squad have played in the championship since, and even fewer are still at the club. What I have witnessed since McKenna has came into the club has been nothing short of incredible, and while I have doubts about survival next season, it's been a great ride

I know other town fans won’t agree, but I thought mick mcarthy did a really good job with NO money at all, had to rely on loan players every year but managed to always keep us competitive at least, as soon as he left we went down….& stayed there!! Happily a distant memory now! Happy times 😊

As a Ipswich fan, please beat Norwich. We couldnt.... AGAIN, let us have one season for the first time in which feels forever were we are in a league above them. But to be fair an East Anglian derby in the Prem would be interesting. And this season has honestly broken my mind.

Mick McCarthy did a very good job at Ipswich. With virtually no budget we were never threatened with relegation and even had a couple of stabs at the playoffs. Marcus Evans r*ped our club, basically using us for a higher return on his investment than any bank would ever give him. It took an ownership change and a big investment in the infrastructure of the ground, as well as reinstating community ties. Hats off to the investors who have left Mark Ashton and Kieran McKenna to do their jobs; and do their jobs they did. Congratulations to the the whole club, from the investors all the way down to the ground staff and everyone involved with the club. A sleeping giant is awoken and I just hope we can consolidate in the Prem next season and build from there. COYB.

Mick did a great job to keep us up and then build a hardworking but unglamorous play-off squad. Then we started to fall apart under the strain of a terrible owner and bare bones backroom team. The way it ended with Mick was poor, but I felt it was the right time for a change. Hurst was a poor replacement, and Lambert never improved things. People said "be careful what you wish for" and it was rough until McKenna, but history almost certainly plays out differently if we don't part ways with Mick when we did.

@@Derby-Days he got us to the playoffs with no budget so if he had been backed would have been interesting. Must have been frustrating sold players such as Creswell and Mings for millions and couldn’t reinvest.
Think we should add 4 or 5 in summer then add again in January, level of continuity.
Whatever we do the ownership/management have the full trust of the support base.
