I’m so happy you’re doing this. And not only I like to learn new stuff about filming. But also, I’m glad that it’s you two, the directors I look up to the most.
Thank you for this. I’m 15 and I’m an aspiring Film Director and have no idea how to start my career. I’m currently working on short films shot on my iPhone. I’m Graduating secondary school next year and have no idea how to further my career. I plan on going film school and that’s it. I have no idea how the industry works to get my stories into cinemas and collaborate with studios and actors. The videos are definitely helping me ty guys!!
Please bloody keep it up, this is such a down to earth discussion about the art of filmmaking from people who've been through one of the biggest experiences of the industry, and it's fascinating to hear about all of your opinions and thoughts. Just keep it up! Love it.
It's so cool you guys grew up watching Battle of the Planets, etc. I really loved that show as a kid, in Australia here. We also got Robotech, Mask, Astroboy and Transformers, all of these I loved. I really hope you guys don't consider Community and Arrested Development "failures" because they got cancelled. Those are absolutely awesome shows and really loved by so so many people. They're such influencial shows in and of themselves. You guys have had such a stunning career so far, and I love that you guys had that decent work ethic growing up. I imagine it's served you so well. I need to go back and watch Season One now, to see what I've missed. Ciao bella!
Sir, thanks 🙏 for doing this It will help us to learn more and more new things. I'm a newbie my age is 20, How can we make our story more appealing? Love from India🇮🇳.
Here's the thing, in Vancouver Canada, VFS generally costs about 30k a year, and they're very democratic about the process. You're not guaranteed to make the film YOU want to make. Versus making your own short film, which probably costs about 100K tops. Now, yes, you have access to resources, and a strong film community. But most of everything is done digitally in schools. So, unless you find a genuine art school that actually shows you how to shoot and cut with film, then you're exclusively learning digital. My opinion? Save your time. Start out as a PA (Location's - Production Assistant) since you're likely going to be placed as one when you get on a film set, regardless of film school or not, make some connections. Save some money. Watch videos like this to learn about filmmaking. Invest in your own gear. And make your own film on your time, without insane debt.
To be a director: Have/know your tone. It is important. Voice as well. Experiment as much as possible. Try different things. Direct different things, direct comedy, drama, commercial ads, horror and etc. Try new things and see what sticks. Be realistic with resources of materials n equipment and availability of actors.
This is an incredibly valuable resource and thank you so much for doing this, gents BUT you have to stop saying PROCESS so much. It's really distracting and is pulling me away from the train of thought
I hope Zack is in the second Ep cuz I can't wait till end

@@Hannibal082 I don’t know. I really enjoy their work. I think that they are really talented. And I feel like they are solid human beings.
