  • After many years, I decided to see if this Honda 3011 would crank and after a little work, discovered problems with the multi-relay. I have had it under a tarp for 2 or 3 years and I don't know how long it sat behind the previous owners shed in a pile of scrap metal. These are very nice mowers so it might be worth the time to bring it back to life.

I do not remember you working on a mower. All I remember is the meat. Ok,Ok, I lied. The mower was a very nice fix. Great job.

There was a riding mower, Some tools, And lots of heat. But most important, There was barbecue woohoo! Nice job on that mower. I don't see how you stand that heat. In Michigan we would all just fall over dead.

I've owned my Honda H3011 since 2004. I had a relay issue also and read all the forums about hacking the relay. Don't! Don't do the hack just buy a new relay which costs between $125 - $180. If you try to McGyver your Honda you will have electrical gremlins that will just drive you nuts. There are also many safety issues with hacking the relay and you don't want to go down that road. After I changed my relay it worked so beautifully and started so reliably I wondered why the price of the relay was even an issue. Don't be cheap here its not worth it just bite the bullet and go merrily cutting your lawn
ps - if the mower cranks then that combo relay is fine. The combo relay can only be suspected if the mower does nothing when you turn the key to start. This riding Honda mower H3011 is extremely reliable and has a beautiful cut. And the grass bagger is its secret weapon. My 1990 Honda H3011 riding mower Is still going strong.

Was wondering if you could provide a link to the bypass forum where you found the info about the wire bypass CDI hack - or explain it

Hello awesome video thx for all the info you’ve enlightened us with. I have a ? How do you check transmission fluid level? What type of fluid did you use. I have Honda DirtBikes would it be safe to use 4stroke trans fluid? Thx for your time

I use trans fluid on anything electrical on a mower. You put it in the key hole . It works in starters.I have been doing this for years and it dosen't seem to hurt anything.

Hi, great video, extremely informative as I have the 3013 model. Just a quick question, how do you end up turning off the mower? I removed the plug off of the magneto to make mine start up and the only way I can turn it off is pulling the spark plug, what do you do to kill the engine?

    • @Photostudioww

Make a wire plug it to the magnito and put the other end somewhere you can grab it and touch a metal part of the mower and it will turn off.

These are good mowers if I can get it to stop smokeing.

What color is the smoke? White smoke is oil, black smoke is gas.
