Last character deep dive for now. Finally we'll be able to start on some actual plotpoints, ehe. After the timeline and my short hiatus. Also, in case some smartguys appear in my comments, summoned by the changes i made in this episode: cry about it.
I genuinely love the idea of Transfem Nora, especially in this context. I remember first watching their backstory episodes, and genuinely not being able to tell if the little red head was supposed to be Nora or someone else, cause I couldn't tell if it was a guy or a girl (I've realized why I delt with that now and it has nothing to do with how little Nora was portrayed, and more to do with me not being able to recognize gender XD). I know RWBY at least has some LGBTQIA+ representation with Blake and Yang, but we need more representation of other identities other than just the LGB, that's why I love the idea of AroAce Ruby and Trans Nora and things like that.
Trans Nora 💗💙 I like how you incorporated the characters backstory from the show and you added onto it. Lovely art as always! Sidenote: Ren was Monty's self insert! And people were complaining about Jaune being an self insert 🤦♀️
Well... As I see it, there is a difference between basing a character off of someone (or yourself) and writing a self-insert. Self inserts happen mostly in fanfiction from what I understand and are typically very annoy and is more of a "if I was the lead of the story, nothing bad would have ever happened." or "I would have solved this the right way." Leaving very little if any room for flaws. While a character that is based off of someone, more has aspects of the person, but isn't a carbon copy, by shire fact of the world building. They also aren't a magical fix all. Personally, I don't have any issues with characters being based off of the crew or people they know. After all, it's easiest to write what you know.
I really like your additions to Ren and Nora’s back story. I didn’t even notice the trans colors on Nora’s Atlas outfit until you mentioned it. I really find Ren’s new goal of being the huntsman his village needed back in the day very interesting. I don’t know if you intended it but I think your versions of Ruby and Ren would have a surprise about of things to bond over since they have slightly similar goals. I can’t wait to see what you do with the Mantle arc.
Interesting very interesting. Well. Nora and Ren were a duo I never felt the need to criticize. I mean, they are good, of course, some changes could be necessary like getting bigger interactions with Pyrrha. Honestly my biggest complains aren't even for Beacon arc: -When Nora kissed Ren by surprise when he was focused on other things. She shouldn't have done that, he was busy. -When she said she was "sick of secrets" during Worst case scenario even when she was keeping secrets from Ironwood. -She should have been the one to accompany Blake to tell Robyn the truth. It wasn't even a Bumblebee moment, so there was no need to be Yang the one to be with Blake. Nora meanwhile, was very critic to the situation in Mantle and trusted Robyn.
I enjoy the video overall (as why I keep watching them lol), but I want to point out that Ren is his main name. For Asian cultures, the surname comes first then the personal. So asking Nora to call Lie Ren instead would be closer to asking her to drop formalities and call him by his personal name. Much like in anime and irl Japan where friends that grow close enough will drop the -san honorific to their name, if not go from family name to personal name as well.
@amandaslough125 wrong, actually. Canonically, his first name is Lie, last name Ren. His parents' names are Li Ren and An Ren. It's a family name. Don't trust me - check "Kuroyuri" credits or wiki. His parents refer to him as Lie. Remnant doesn't have the same "asian culture" name order thing, he chooses to be referred to as Ren
