    I've never seen someone walk the tight rope of aggression so perfectly. You sometimes feel like he's one action away from a yellow/red card or getting into a fight but he's still so composed and measured in everything he does. Not to mention the class he shows with the ball. I've been a United fan for a while now and this is the first time I can easily say I have a definite favourite player. LICHAAAAAAAA! 💯

    Heart. This is not something you can teach. The entire reason why Licha is the best CB in the PL is heart. Yeah he’s smart, good on the ball, always aware, but his heart is his defining skill. It’s something we haven’t seen in our back line since Rio and Vidic.

    Would be amazing to get a video showing the strikers side. As a big guy I have 1000s of videos showing me winger skills and quick feet, but they aren't really relatable to my on pitch experience. Would be great to get advice around using size and physical assets against defenders.

    • @jotarokujo9587
      @jotarokujo9587 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll watch your video(s) and then I'll try to put in words what I think would be good advice.

    • @jotarokujo9587
      @jotarokujo9587 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't find any videos, but I'm assuming you're technically versed for 1v1s. I don't know how big you are and how fast you are, but a general advice for being dangerous when dribbling (since you mention winger skills and quick feet) is to be the one in control of the duel. How you do it?
      1. Close control of the ball when dribbling, so not too much time between touches. This way timing the tackle is too difficult and risky for the defender, since it's easier to punish them for it. If they do tackle, you can tap the ball behind them, to the opposite side of which leg they're balancing on (centre of balance). Or if they timed pretty well and you didn't have much momentum/speed to begin with, a la croqueta will DEFINITELY do the job. The best skill move for punishing.(also called Iniesta because he used it + Messi uses it too)
      The close control of the ball allows you to punish better and it allows you to try pull the pieces the defender uses apart. That leads to 2. Building momentum/speed. Every time you see Messi or Mbappé do a 1v1, they keep close control so defenders won't step in. Then they build speed kind of ''across'' the defender, so not directly at the defender because that'd make changing direction nearly impossible if the defender decides to step in. And in building that momentum across the defender, the defender follows you in a kind of parallel way. Then you leave a bigger gap on other side to cut into. This is the best way to create 2 dangerous directions to accelerate into: the gap you're creating to cut into to put the defender on the wrong foot and the direction you're already building momentum towards, since a good defender pays attention to that gap. Being caught wrong footed because you pay 0 attention there means you're 100% beaten as a defender.
      The point of building speed is to give the defenders less time to react. And if they do react and fail, they're almost standing still while you're past them with lots of speed going towards goal.
      Then 3. The accelerating part. Stepovers and body feints disguise your intentions and create space, making the 2 directions to run past them into EVEN MORE DANGEROUS. If you do a proper body feint while at speed, they'll probably overcommit to that side a little since not reacting on time while the attacker already going that fast is lethal for a defender. Quick feet are extremely useful for these because you can throw more bodyweight into the feint while still being able to quickly change direction, making the defender overcommit harder. You don't need quick feet for it to be effective but yeah. Stepovers though, need pretty quick feet to become as useful as or more dangerous than body feints. If you do these, stepping in means bye-bye for the defender and you basically say ''I'm going right, no I'm going left, no I'm going right''.
      At this part the point is to either fool the defender as to make it harder for defenders to react on time or correctly, or it's just timing when you'll explode away. If you've got lots of pace, building speed with close control is enough. Then you can just pull off a body feint and go either way.
      Make it so that the defender gets punished when trying to tackle and that they have to react to you. That reaction should be as hard as possible for the defender.

    • @jotarokujo9587
      @jotarokujo9587 ปีที่แล้ว

      When it comes to general pitch experience, I could talk even more than about dribbling since this is what I'm actually better at (I know how to dribble but I don't have lots of muscle memory for skills and my pace isn't great anymore).
      Don't overdo practicing dribbling skills, normal dribbling allows you to come into situations where the skills are extremely effective and simple to do. It gives a good setup.
      If you have good simple dribbling skills and it truly becomes part of you, you can look up while dribbling to scan the pitch and see defenders and how they're positioned. Reading the opponents and the game is extremely important. If you can do this well, you can make extremely effective decisions like taking on a defender without putting too much effort in technique.
      You said you're a striker and a big guy. If you're agile and fast like Rashford it's pretty good to dribble but choose your moments wisely. It's a team sport. Positioning, communication, movement and combining with teammates is what creates those beautiful moments in attack. How you position yourself affects how much time and space you have to dribble and do what you want to do. It's not just place on the field, but also how much you've opened up your body to where you want to play. As a midfielder I often have my back to the sidelines so I can receive the ball from a defender and immediately open up to dribble/pass. It saves so much time. Big guys in the striker position can buy time for their teammates by receiving the ball with their back to goal while being very high up. You give teammates time to breathe, move up and move in free or dangerous positions.

    • @jotarokujo9587
      @jotarokujo9587 ปีที่แล้ว

      Size is useful for shielding like I said, and reaching the ball first. Reaching the ball first comes from often being stronger and taller, making you more likely to win the aerial duel (but lots of times also on the ground).
      Shielding is actually the same as creating space. You push defenders away and prevent that space from being ''attacked'' or marked by defenders. It helps you to take shots off and it allows you to lay off the ball. Strong and good strikers often receive the ball with their back to goal (note: probably in the box in this scenario) and perfectly put their body in between them and the ball, smoothly, to turn around and shoot. When Haaland dribbles (not that good at it), this is pretty much the only thing that makes it effective. His run is more like a ''charge'' at goal that cannot be stopped because he protects the ball so well with his body. I think he scored one goal like that against West Ham (not sure).
