Saying he is one of the best CBs of his generation is a disgraceful statement. He is one of the best CBs of all time! Maybe THE BEST CB of all time. He IS on that Beckenbauer,Baresi level no doubt about it. He is actually underrated by lot of people.

But, also goes and scores goals(has assists as well)....has more goals than world class strikers..There's no match for him in the defensive line..GOAT....only defender to give him a competition would be MALDINI.

This guy was a truly great defender: Great marker in a football without man markers since zonal was imposed by Sacchi's Milan. Also great with the ball at his feet; Mourinho made a great call by converting him to center back. His only flaw as defender was his frequent failure at positioning; that's why he was so often forced to foul opponents
But on the other hand he would have never been as "great" without protection and impunity from the referees, which he got after 2013. However,in modern football a forward can make plays, a CM can be a box to box one and a defender can pass.
With all due respect to Maldini Ramos is second to none.

Ramos is just as lucky as Piquè is, they both have clear drawbacks in their game, something that Maldini never had. The man excelled as both a fullback and a centreback, the only other player that could compare to him is probably Ruud Krol
