    My mom got a call from her "grandson" saying he was in jail and needed money to bail himself out. My mom yelled at him for 20 minutes telling him she told him if he went to jail one more time she was not bailing him out again!! She said I have already bailed you out too many times and given you thousands of dollars. He pleaded with her for 20 minutes. She kept lecturing him but stringing him along. He was so mad when she told him she only has granddaughters!! I too enjoy playing with scammers!!

    One of my high school friends used to give the phone to his grandmother who had dementia when scammers called. She loved talking to people, and would sit on the phone for hours, agreeing to everything and he gave her an expired gift card that she'd try to buy things with at the end. • @patriciamillin-j3s
      @patriciamillin-j3s ปีที่แล้ว

      I fell for it once. It was allegedly from the German railway and they were offering very cheap tickets. I was wary, but someone said they had checked at their station and were told that the offer is valid, so for the first time since I’ve had internet (27 years), I decided to go for it. The next thing I know is I get a letter from the CC bank asking for a callback because they couldn’t reach me by phone. It turned out that the company offering the deal on behalf of German Rail was trying to book €70 off my CC as a monthly subscription payment! The bank told me they had stopped the payment as a precaution until they had confirmation from me that it was valid. I was shocked and said absolutely not, so to be on the safe side, they blocked the CC and sent me a new one at no extra cost. I’m so grateful to them for being so observant and saving me a lot of money! I believe the person who said it was valid may have been working for the company.
      What confused me in this particular case was that when I received the letter from my bank, they mentioned that the company was in Cyprus (that was not clear on the initial offer that just mentioned German Rail). It just so happens, by pure coincidence, that my family lives in Cyprus and I was visiting there a couple of months earlier, but I couldn’t remember purchasing anything with CC during my visit.

    Haven't seen one of these videos in a while. As a British person, I always find such calls fascinating as we don't get them (or rather due to the Telephone Preference Service, we can opt out). It surely can't be that they get paid for how long they keep you on the phone as that makes little sense. So I wonder why they take so long to get to the point? Or is their training such that they think that the longer you're on, the more chance you are of being sold something? Because that also makes little sense either.

      Funny you say this because theres another person in the comments saying theyre British and they get these type of calls too. We are supposed to be able to opt out also but that doesnt always work.

      You can’t “opt out” of fraudulent calls. You can opt out of telemarketing calls by legitimate companies that respect the opt out list. These people aren’t selling anything. They are straight up criminals. They certainly don’t care about an opt out list.

      TPS only opts out of calls originating in UK. And there must be a hundred workarounds for that! But it's true we don't get as many scam calls.

      @@helenswan705 I'm not so sure - there are plenty of channels here on TH-cam devoted to exposing 'Computer Support' scammers and the victims they talk about are mainly UK people.

    I love messing with scammers. A lot of the scams are repetitious, so I have my responses ready before they even begin talking. Those vacation ones drag on forever, like they’re trying to sell a timeshare. The woman sounds like my Allstate agent. 😂

    Very nicely done David. We should have a three digit number that we can dial into the phone that immediate sends these people to the Attorney General’s office for prosecution. If I were king, you can bet we’d have such a thing.
