Tariffs will increase costs of finished goods and components used throughout US manufacturing. This will be an immediate and huge hike in inflation. The grandparents are always telling the grandchildren how much cheaper things used to be. Inflation has always been apart of the USA. It normally sits around 1.8% to 2.3%. Since 1960, the only 2 years with no inflation were 2009 and 2015.

Remember when Trump slapped a 25% tariff on China 8 years ago? What happened to groceries prices and other retail items across America? It jumped up 100% to 150% during his term, far beyond a mere 25%. Guess who pocketed the extra 75%-125% we ended up paying for everything? Our politicians and our corporations. Imagine what a 100% tariff on BRICS and 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico will do.
@@airrodgers1242 It would of been a surprise if prices didn't continue going up under the democrat's term in office (Biden). If one thing goes up, everything goes up. I'm in Australia. We had a VAT introduced in 2000 that for the first time covered processed foods and services. Whole foods weren't subject to the tax, but their prices went up to meet the difference in price of processed goods and then some. It was a killer for low income earners and young families.

Raising everything to cover the extra charges regardless of tariff status. Let the price gouging begin. Some "sales" were the original price with a higher price crossed out.
The funny thing is that Americans endlessly complain about their cheap stuff not being cheap enough. Nobody in the developed west pays less(relative to income) for food and gas than people in the US. Definitely can't stand Donny. But even with his tariffs, our goods are still going to be cheap.

This is a great channel. We need more channels like this to wake up the American people, particularly the Trump supporters or rather the Make America Pay Again supporters.

A company I contract with will now move all its assembly out of the United States because it inport all the parts. So, in the long run, it will save them money to assemble the product outside the United States under Trump's tariffs. So they going to layoff 200 people because of Trump.
But you people say the consumer will pay the tariffs. Why would this imaginary company need to assemble outside the US to cut the cost of tariffs the consumer pays for? Please, make it all make sense.
@ It's easy because 70% of their products are exported outside the United States. So, if they had to pay the tariffs on all the parts they import and use to assemble their products inside the United States, it would make their products extremely expensive. They have to pass on the cost of tariffs to their customers. So, to save money, it is cheaper to assemble everything outside the United States, where labor costs are more affordable, and pay tariffs on 30% of the products they sell in the United States. It is straightforward..! Yes, people spend the tariffs in the long run. It is not an imaginary company; it employs over 2000 people worldwide. Obviously, you never ran a business..!
@@ricardocabeza6006 Besides what he already pointed out, it is a basic economic principle that if your price rises it will lower demand for your product because it'll simply be too expensive for some people. So if you can assemble your final product outside the US, even if it was intended for the US market, you'd simply assemble it in a country that Trump's tariffs aren't affecting right now and import your final product to the US, avoiding the tariffs altogether but still having a more expensive product because of the new supply chain logistics. 'cause this is one key thing a lot of people in favor of these tariffs do not seem to understand: tariffs most likely just shuffle around the logistics of world trade. You want to put tariffs on China? Companies will import their product from another country that is still cheaper than local production. Think that country has a sudden lack of supply? Don't be silly, they'll sell the US their entire supply chain at an increased rate and import the deficit cheaply from China. And the only one paying is the US consumer. Welcome to global trading.
But if the company moves assembly outside the US, they are gonna have to a pay a 25% tariff to bring the assembled product back here to sell. Care to tell us the name of this company?
@@hillbillybeerdranker6678 Why'd anyone pay a tariff if a company moves the assembly to a country that the tariffs aren't applied to? They just pay extra logistic costs.

Trump HAS to tarriff these countries because if he doesn't, it will look like Mexico and other countries called his bluff. No question tarriffs going into effect.
And once prices have gone up, they will never go down. Retailers are not stupid, and they all want to make the biggest profit possible. Example: if you put a 25% tariff on a T-shirt from China, the price in America will go up 25%. But U.S. manufactured T-shirts? They will go up with 15-20%, because they will then still be cheaper than the chinese T-shirts. And let's say the tariffs later expire? Do you think prices will go down then? Well, maybe 2% to make the customers happy, but never to earlier prices, because now the customers have got used to the higher price. So this is a one-way-road.
Maybe you shouldn't purchase coffee from a company gouges it's prices and blame it on politics, given that coffee futures prices did not double in the last week, they actually went down.

People are going to see prices on everything go up. You are going to see food prices hit the highest price ever. Tariffs are a tax on the American people. American companies pay the tariffs and pass on the cost.
Technically costs are already being accrued. The next store fitout if done after tariffs come in will cost more. This cost needs to be recovered and also sales volumes will reduce when tariffs come in, need to increase margins or spend less on wages just to make the same profit.
China has just eliminated the last tariffs it has with Australia and is looking to increase imports especially in food. Farmers here see boom😅 times returning. US tariffs from China will not give Trump what he seeks. China may just stop exporting some items to US and worse for US might switch where it buys some American imports to other countries. I am sure countries see an opportunity to increase exports to China at the expense of US. Tariffs will increase prices inside US and reduce its exports to China and other countries. Tariffs will be a disaster for US .
Actually I think you mean trade sanctions. The last one being beef has now been lifted. Aussie producers will be looking to phase out exports to the US in anticipation of tariffs. The US exported high value beef and imported low value beef. Different producers inside the US will be affected differently. The low cost producers will see domestic prices increase whereas the high value exports mostly to East Asia will dry up in favour of countries like Australia and New Zealand and to some extent South American countries (they won't be able to achieve as high prices)

Let's all work to raise prices just before the largest shopping season. How is this different from price gouging?
Pepsico got away with raising prices of entire junk food isles at grocery stores. The average American processed food diet consists of just 2 or 3 big conglomerates that give an illusion of choice.
Sales will go down as will Corporate taxes so it is a wash for them while we are left holding the bag.
Bring back higher Corporate taxes with deductions for reinvesting in the work force and further deductions for domestic manufacturing.
I doubt that will happen so long as these CEOs have an ear of the politician and a hand in their wallets.
So if we increase corporate taxes, that magically won't pass onto the consumer, but tariffs will pass on to the consumer. See the nonsense you have to believe for what your saying to be true?
@ricardocabeza6006 so you didn't read the part about deductions?
@@Groovin33 The part about how the corporate tax rate will be deduced before it's passed onto the consumer?
Nothing about deductions changes the fact that if tariffs pass onto the consumer, taxes would too.
You live in a fantasy land where you can take money from companies without that money coming from consumers.
Funny how the prices can rise whilst the tariffs are not even in effect!
Gee... almost as if it doesn't need a politician setting said prices. 🤓
They’re anticipating the tariff hikes, plus they’re going to price gouge on top.
Must be from the tariffs Biden increased.
If the weather service says a tornado will hit your neighborhood in an hour, do you bring in the lawn furniture now or do you wait until the tornado hits? Same thing here, he doesn't have to be in office yet (the world knows he will be in office on Jan 20th), so companies are preparing for the tariffs (they're bringing in the lawn furniture) by buying imported goods before the tariffs take effect. This is increasing their inventory, increasing their unplanned expenses causing increased prices and in some cases cancelling Christmas bonuses and starting layoffs.
No surprises there. A bit of gouging, yes, but it will also soften the blow for consumers and the bottom line of the company as they anticipate falling sales.
Let the gouging begin😡
So the gouging is just beginning? So that actually was inflation under Biden, got it.
I have a MAGA friend who blabbered about a neighbor, who was looking for a new home theater receiver and that he needs to “Buy American.” My response, was there’s only one domestic company that I’m aware of and that’s McIntosh. I told he that his neighbor will need to drop at least $8K for their products and he actually seemed surprised there were no domestic mfg’s that produced those for under $1K.
But coral Caligula specifically promised me tariffs would be lower prices for Americans. China came to him with tears in his eyes and said, take my goods, take them for nothing you have the best deal ever sir.
"Coral Caligula"... I LOVE it !!!
the way "coral caligula" describes tarrifs is like wanting to buy a bigmac at mcdonalds but needing a bigmac to get in in the first place
My fancy Accuvue (which was originally Bink) contact solution, which preserves the contacts for a 4-6 weeks (instead of exactly 2 weeks) and keeps them mostly comfortable all that time - it's produced in China. - was about $24 for two bottles for the longest time. Recently, they reduced the amount you get, and now it's about $50 for two bottles...and it's now subject to price gouging.
Corporations didn't say anything because it's a win win for them. The don't even need a real reason to raise prices. They just need the rumor of a reason.
went to the store grocery shopping and shocked to see much higher prices already for produce (lettuce. celery. strawberries. tomatoes. etc. etc). and the 🍊🤡 isn't even defiling the WH again yet.
Taxes not tariffs, it's taxes from the poor to pay for tax cuts for the rich.
And the deficit goes even more through the roof...
Did it take him just one month of being president elect to have the world economy take a downturn? What a genius.
@@Tomscomment Europe is doing well
Yup. The countries are starting to implement they’re prices up before this orange man gets to his plans.
Everyone will still trade but it will probably cost Americans in the long run much more as you import much much more than everyone else. We all play nice with each other. UK and Europe, Canada and Europe China and Europe, UK and Canada. It's just America

This isn’t a new invention

I believe that Walmart has come forward with prices going up. Some of what's seen WILL BE corporate greed, taking advantage of the consumer. JMO
That's the way capitalism works. What do you expect
The corps said nothing because they did want to draw attention to themselves and draw Trump's heat. Now the threat is their customer base walking away but they are still NOT blaming Trump. It is still.."times are what they are.. tighten your belt"
I LITERALLY just got home from Aldi. Eggs were 80 cents higher from $2.40 last week to $3.20.
He's an idiot! Don't let him get sworn in!💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Anticipatory pricing! Not good!
They did that in UK over Brexit. And of course prices DID go up, but they got their profits in FIRST.
Capitalist PRIX.
Impossible. Trump can't POSSIBLY not understand how basic economics work!

HE'S A MORON, SIMPLE! A convicted felon should have NEVER been in ANY position to be on the ballot 🗳 on November 5th (just SICKENING)
And, they may increase prices anyway, and make a lot of profit before tariffs are imposed
I do not blame the companies for not saying anything. I blame the trump voters for very simply not making any effort to research tariffs. The information was at their fingers but were too lazy to make the effort.
I'm a little surprised that companies aren't lobbying against these tariffs because it will cost them more even though they will pass the cost on to the customer.
Merry Christmas to US
Well... this is what they voted for unfortunately 🤷♂️
Since they raised prices to early Biden will get the blame.
Of course
does it matter?
That's why here I'm trying to look forward and forecast what we will need next year. My computer is getting older, it's been freezing so I bought a new computer. My daughter has been saving for a new PlayStation and had a couple of setbacks so we bought her a new PlayStation. I'm making a real effort to fill our freezer with our more expensive consumables before he gets into office. Logically, we would be purchasing these things anyway so why not now?
Yup! The prices are going up already.
Do you have ANY idea how long it takes to get a new manufacturing business up and running? MAGA certainly doesn't. It takes time for an Architect and Engineers to do the drawings, an incredible amount of time to get the building permit, and with the coming increase in construction materials on top of already record high costs, it ain't gonna happen.
All corporations and greedy landlords need to skyrocket prices is an excuse. And now they have it.
Prices are rising. The store brand cheese would go on sale 3 for 6.00. Today it was 2 for 7.00. Baby Bella mushrooms are 6.00 for 8oz.
Price gouging is rampant since Kamala defeated.
So, businesses are already raising prices BEFORE any tariffs go into effect? CONGRESS has to vote on tariffs before ANYTHING can be done. If the tariffs do happen, I bet any companies who have already raised prices will raise them again. DOUBLE DIPPING!!!
David you hit the nail on the head when you questioned “where was all this news BEFORE the election” i swear outlets either were saying anything of they were just saying “tariffs” without fully explaining what it meant for consumers nor how immediate the impact would be.
Kroger-Fred Meyer is already warning their store managers of the future. Some stores are already installing unbreakable glass and locked doors in more aisles. I would know because I work for FM as one of their CDL truck drivers. Shoplifting is going to become a fine art.
So in the future we will be met at the door by an employee that will personally escort us around the store to unlock cabinets 😮 or will station employees on each aisle with a set of keys...
@@lindapereboom I asked how they expect to get anything done in those circumstances. Even the managers don't know. However, they are preparing for massive waves of shoplifting by regular everyday citizens. FM hires armed security at some of their stores, but those security guards are mostly props until somebody directly provokes them.
It sounds to me like they are anticipating looting, not just incidental shoplifting.
and thats trump fault?
@@nostrum6410 2nd attempt no one in this thread mentioned djt except you...if the shoe fits

Whether or not Trump's tariffs actually affect any particular business, he's effectively given them an excuse to raise prices. Look forward to inflation on all kinds of products. For those who voted for him, hope it works out for you.
Prices in the grocery stores are already increasing.
And he’s gonna blame it on the democrats as usual
My $6.49 organic eggs are now well over $7.00 here in Ohio

David, why did this administration keep Trump's tariffs and in September increased the tariffs? Either they are bad or good. You guys talk out of the same side of your mouth. Bad when Trump does it but good when we do it.
Yes Biden offered continuity of policy and didn't reverse tariffs on China or handouts to farmers. He just didn't make things a whole lot worse.
People are going to see prices on everything go up. You are going to see food prices hit the highest price ever.
Tariffs are a tax on the American people. American companies pay the tariffs and pass on the cost.
Who could have predicted this?!
Hey! Hey! Put your hands down!
have tariffs gone into effect already? No? Then why are retailers already raising prices?
Because they can..
Because the companies are stockpiling goods and raw materials before tariffs are imposed.
Technically costs are already being accrued. The next store fitout if done after tariffs come in will cost more. This cost needs to be recovered and also sales volumes will reduce when tariffs come in, need to increase margins or spend less on wages just to make the same profit.
price gouging, if they even are actually raising prices
@@andreawalli9477 no, that seems rather unlikely
I live a modest life and yet have everything I need. I bought a yeti thermos 5 years ago and a zero gravity reclining chair 3 months ago to watch football on Sundays. I just don't understand why Americans buy so much crap and then have to rent storage rooms to store all their crap. My $50 phone can do almost everything $1,000 phone can do except take really nice photos. I'm almost 50 years old and never needed or wanted a credit card. So many of got it mixed up on what life is supposed to be about.
And they take fancy photos of totally inconsequential things.

1000 square foot home paid off 15 years ago, five year old 'phone (the old one died!), paid cash for my car, the first flat screen TV that I bought is the one that I still have, second hand stereo, cook whole foods at home seven nights a week, make our own bread and beer and have a vegetable patch in the back yard. Only toy is a cheap motorbike, paid cash.
Have savings and investment which continue to grow as we spend less than half what we earn. We use a credit card for daily expenses and clear it monthly. The only loans that we've ever had are a small house loan (paid off in eight years) and a $2000 personal loan that I used to buy a used car 25 years ago when I'd just bought the house and was broke. My $1000 car catastrophically failed and I needed a "new" one.
Fast forward twenty five years and we're now pretty well off, even if it doesn't look like it from the outside. Not spending beyond our means has left us in a very comfortable position.
I don't know why others don't understand this.
I am a eCommerce business owner of two brands. My shipping costs have already dramatically increased because everyone is trying to ship as many of their products to the US before the tariffs go into effect. I will have to raise my prices accordingly which I am not looking forward to.
Yes they don’t instantly sprout new factories and since there are few raw materials made here in the USA these companies still have to buy their parts from foreign companies and those items are subject to tariffs…making production more expensive.
