Hey Simon I love Fly’s product just as much as you do, really great quality. Do you happen to know if they do custom colors like the posts on their Instagram? Because on the Fly’s website they only have a few color options compared to the unique colors that you see on their Instagram.
Important to note...I spoke with Fly and they no longer use clips on their Fly X Cheek guard, they’re using the buckle, just like the Superbar! Might sway some people towards the Winning. I too dislike the buckles.
@@Fit2Box yes there’s a couple unboxing videos on TH-cam where you can see the ones with the new colors and they are buckles. I noticed and asked about the black and red on Instagram because the website seems to indicate a clip. They said they’re now using buckles. 👎🏽
I do mention in the video the weight 10.2 oz so very light headguard and yes as stated in the review and the ratings card the protection fir the nose is less than the fg2900 /venum similar cheek headguards
I have this one in blue. The clip is a nightmare, I can't have a sparing without the clip disconnecting. When I reached out to Fly the send me clips, which I actually can't mount myself without doing some kind of physical modifications to the helmet... The clip is huge if you compare it to winning or ultimatum and that's the problem in my opinon. So now I paid 130 pounds, for a headguard that is barely usable, awsome.
The clip looks HUGE, or you have small fingers. In the vid, the male end of the clip is protruding at least half its length past the padding that is supposed to protect the side of your face/chin from the buckle. Not to mention the outside flap just hanging straight down at 90degrees from the buckle, looks like it was attached as an afterthought. I know from my FG2900 the padding provided is large enough to protect your face, both the very small female/male buckle sit snuggly out of harms way. The mere mention of “Chinese synthetic leather” sends a shiver down the spine 😀
Same whenever I’m doing a hard sparring session my clip disconnects really disappointing as I got it customised and sped 350 on a headguard the comes off after getting hit
Had these and now the FG2900, imo, it's no where NEAR as good and not worth it tbh. The X line gloves feel great but these feel really cheap. Also with the FG2900 it's almost impossible to get hit in the eyes but you can with these, the padding is no where near as thick either.

I like the cheek protectors and how light it is but there isn’t that much protection on the sides compared to the Sabas.

Id disagree , its the comfiest head guard I’ve ever wore and its good quality
I wish they still had that plastic clip on it. I think they use a metal buckle now
why not compare to the obvious FG2900 (which is also synthetic)?
