The title is actually "Donkey Kong 4 Country" as in just a shorter version of the full title "Donkey Kong For Countries that don't yet have Donkey Kong Country"...
Back when there was no internet people would often ask me to finish games to see how they ended. I remember having a blast with Donkey Kong when my neighbors asked me to finish it. I also remember when they came with a nice mug of hot coffee to boost morale during the mining kart stage.
I'm actually impressed by several of these unofficial 8bit ports... Street Fighter 2 and Super Mario World look pretty impressive too.

Well, if they could port the DKC to the original Gameboy, i'm sure an official NES version could be feasible as well.
Growing up in Brazil during the 90's, I confess I thank the loose piracy laws from that time which allowed me to not only have tons of fun, but also access to a lot of cultural content.

Oh, you played the beta rom. There's a bigger version of DKC4 that contains the entire first game. You can recognize it by rom size that is over 700kb for the full version (a huge size for a nes game). There are no noticeable differences in the title screen and first couple of levels, so getting the physical version of it may be a challenge as the full version seems to be much rarer than the beta rom you seem to have played.
Where can I get this latest full rom? Could not find with google, only the version which is 500kb.

Huh, I’ve only ever found one version of DKC 4, and it ends with a K. Rool fight. There’s no documentation of a second version anywhere, and I was obsessed with bootlegs just a few years ago.
This is basically an 8 bit version of the first Donkey Kong Country game.

I was on the front lines with my Super Wild Card and Atari jaguar. At one time I had 13 video game and computer systems all hooked to the same tv.
Actually, the sound engine is from a japanese game, DeBlock made by Athena. This was confirmed by the programmer, Hummer Cheng, and if I remember correctly, they may also used a Technos sound engine, don't remember which one. There is also a Harry Potter beat-em up, a Titanic one, and many many other games by Hummer, a crapton of Mortal Kombat ports. Bootleg stuff is a very deep rabbit hole, it doesn't matter if it's a backport or pirate original.

You so professional. I remember playing DK at friends house and amazed by the graphics. How about some playstation history though, bet you got PS1 hidding in there.
Those are some juicy colors for a NES game, they almost captured that "pre-rendered" look. But what surprises me most, is how fluid and solid it looks. No flickering, no slow-down or anything.
But i guess it runs on a emulator or something

The dk land games are also really impressive. Practically ports of the snes games for the gameboy and they look even closer to the originals than the nes bootleg.

Donkey Kong Country 4 was initially planned for the SNES back in 1997, which was way before Donkey Kong 64s development. Also I’m still dumbfounded that DKC was a creation from Britain than Japan…

I lucked out I got all 3 DK country games brand new recently for around 30.00
I already gained the self-awareness to realize I've become Cranky Kong the way I criticize how modern science fiction games have become dumbed down in vehicle/weapon design and world building.
Satire is needed to exaggerate reality, when the "real life Cranky Kong" actually has the leg to stand on that you need to remove by creating the Cranky Kong strawman. When you for example have to say things like "piracy is theft", it's YOU not being aware enough to know that THEFT is theft, and piracy is something ELSE. Same with Cranky Kong, HE is out-of-the-line exaggeration of people who are WELL WITHIN the line, and can then be ignored by believing in a fictional "Cranky Kong" being the extent of it.
I don't have to make up a character to point out this shit, anyone can look at the whole UK, WASP, and Anglo-Saxon axis and see the prevalence of this crap. Having to make this "x is y" relative comparisons because they don't have the mind for basic arithmetic. No wonder the English university model is churning out identity politics now, all around the world, why it is THAT Scottish model thats' letting it get its foot through the door.
Cranky Kong beats you in the had with it, because that's what you would do if YOU conceived the character. I never build a wall of argumentation that doesn't have a path to rock climb over it, if the ideas are actually engaged with.

That's "Silicon Graphics produced graphics", not "Silicon computer produced graphics." Silicon Graphics is a brand name of computer that was used to generate the sprites. :-) Thanks for the video.
Well, to remember the 16-bit era console war, you don't only need to be old enough, but you need to have been living in the appropriate region. Things were a bit different in the Asian market, from which this game comes.
