that was a great inclusion, I actually had more of a vintage style Adidas set myself, not sure if I had many opp to wear it. I wonder if I still have that...
@@theurbangentry yes hes right :) this is one of your best intros :D.. but one cant compare it to the other style of intros 🧐🤗... Btw how is hugo back in jail.. did he "clip" a waiter for not having enough burger patties on storage ?🙈
In general there are far too many hails about «genius» this and that on youtube for my taste. TGV is no genius but probably a hard working professional with good taste and charm. The intro is well done, if not a little too busy with repetitions and fancy effects. And don’t forget this is put together with premade video clips purchased from a getty library or similar. So, no this isn’t really that impressive. It’s more to do with the fact that you likely don’t know much about video editing, after effects etc. Leonardo da Vinci was a genius. Read some history.
Season 3 Episode 1 - Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood. I'm watching the episode right now! FBI Agent Dwight Harris played by Matt Servitto is wearing a Timex Indiglo Quartz.
The greatest TV show ever made. Period! That intro haha brilliant!! I never understood the fascination with the tracksuit by certain Italian Americans. It always seemed to go against the classic style of the mafia 😅
Josh Charlie nah. It’s a well loved and respected show from a time shows did not have very good production values, so it stood up. But it can’t hold a candle against modern shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men or Mr Robot.
Tracksuit is comfortable and versatile. It's cheap, quick to put on, cleans easily, and doesn't restrict your movement. And you can wear it pretty much anywhere - at home, at a gym, running errands, whatever. Great for a person with a busy lifestyle. Just throw it on and go. It takes much more time and effort to get yourself in a suit. Tracksuits were popular amongst many people in the 80s and 90s, not just the Italians. Although I can definitely see why someone like Chris or Paulie would wear it. It's much easier to beat someone up wearing a tracksuit, than a three peice.
@@LuisMercadoorg While I can't comment on Mr. Robot, Breaking Bad just isn't as good a show. The characters aren't (beyond Walter White) just aren't as nuanced and relatable. Mad Men makes my top ten, though and is on par in terms of writing and style and actually has more and stronger female characters. But Tony will always be boss and his show set the standard for these later series.
I'm rewatching Soprano's whilst listening to the podcast. I got into wearing watches during the lockdown and now when I watch something I always notice the watches in the show. Thanks for making this video.
Thanks to you I started " The Sopranos" series yesterday and I've just finished the first season. It's like a drug for me this kind of TV show. I'm a Sicilian, so you can image! Very thank you for your watch reviews! I look forward to buying one of the mentioned watches, maybe I'll start with the Seiko SNA411, I really like it!!! Ciao e a presto!
Just started to watch Sopranos again... I never was a Rolex fan but the way Tony rocks it.. Classic... Suits the character and - for me - adds to the heritage of the company as well. Awesome video again! Cheers from Hungary
I also did rewatched The Sopranos in the beginnnig of the lockdown. Like the 7th or 8th time already. And the first time since the great James Gandolfini died. R.I.P Big man
In one of the later seasons, Uncle Junior pays a debt to a caretaker in the nursing home with a vintage Bulova. I was confused by this because I always took his watch on the show to be a Datejust. But Bulova did make the “Super Seville” line that was an homage to DJs and DDs. I felt Bulova suited Junior well given his best years were in the 60s when most Americans would have known Bulova before they knew Rolex. Just some thoughts! Loved this episode!
This "new phase" is amazingly funnier and interesting! Really mature format for the show. Keep the awesome job and don't got stucked under a specific content ever again matte! Cheers from 🇧🇷
My favourite watch channel, featuring my favourite TV show, featuring some of my favourite watches: it doesn't get better than this! I love how you analyzed the deliberate pairing between each watch and the character who wears it, highlighting at once the great research that went in producing the TV series, and the way horology fits into and interprets the spirit of an era by condensing its traits into aesthetics and design choices. Once again, a masterful video! Salut' ! ;)
Just watching this I laughed out remembering the Oris Vito scene. The way he builds it up and then explodes is just pure comedy genius. Thanks for posting; I’ve now decided to get out the box set and go again this weekend. “Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in”
I like spotting watches in TV shows and films, my favourite is still the Heuer Autavia in The Exorcist, was over the moon when I spotted it even if it is very prominent in the scene.
I love that you did a video on the Sopranos! My favorite TV series and quite a collection of watches to talk about. The one I always notice is Carmela's two-tone Datejust. In fact, that was the first watch I noticed on the series when I first watched it.
Thank you for the nice words about my hometown, Napoli. Luckily more people in Italy are looking for good-high horology rather than luxury. And this also because of your terrific video! Well done!
I LOVE NAPOLI!!!! The food, the culture, the music, everything! I have travelled there many times and I have family there too. One of my favorite cities in Italy. I am honored to have Gentry in Napoli, graze fratello. Spero che un giorno ti vedrò e ti incontrerò! Best regards, TGV
This is one of your best videos ever! 😎👍 I remember a Richie Aprile wearing a Cartier Tank, while Paulie and AJ a Movado. Ralph had a Cartier too and possibly a Franck Muller (Cortex?)
I'd love to see Hugo Mountbatten and Joe Pesci critique movies in a channel. I'm enjoying my recently acquired Flighty after all your recommendations. Great video, Tristano.
The Sopranos/Kingsley scene introduced me to Oris recently, and then almost immediately I was led to your famous Oris Aquis video. I believe Oris was featured on The Sopranos as many of the crew members loved Oris watches and hence chose to feature them in the Luxury Lounge scene. While I do love the Aquis I found it was a bit too clunky on my wrist and ended up going with the Hamilton Jazzmaster chrono (worn in upcoming "Tenet" movie) which is a really cool diver-style watch if you have not checked it out (you can spot it in the movie's teaser trailer).
My wife and I just finished The Sopranos, her first time watching it, my third. Her wedding gift to me was a Navitimer, and I definitely remember seeing one at some point during the series and was sure to pause it and point it out to her.
Just been rewatching and introducing the Sopranos with my wife during lock down. Was looking at the watches. No one does this kind of review but you! Loved it. Keep it coming TGV love your channel . Thanks for your great content
Got so excited when I saw this video! Sopranos is my favorite show by far and seeing you dive into the watches was so cool! "If there are any flies on you, they must be paying rent!"
I just came across this video and was glad I did! Very cool! I own a Seiko Flightmaster. I bought it when I was in the Air Force in 2012. I was an enlisted aviator and wanted an aviation watch I could wear with my Semi-formal and Formal Dress Blues and I couldn't afford a Breitling Navitimer. I absolutely love wearing it, but up until now, I was the only person I knew that owned one. Now that I know now that Carlo wore one while cooking up food for Tony and the Bada-Bing gang, as well as cleaning up Tony's "messes," I'll love wearing it even more! Thanks!
Hey TGV, check out in the earlier seasons (not sure which one) where the FBI is bugging Tony's house. You'll see a long screenshot of a Timex Indiglo worn by an agent in the van waiting for Tony to leave the house -- an obvious product placement -- but then look closely at the guy in the tree spying on the back yard with binoculars. Voila, an Omega SMP; Chrono if I remember correctly. The bracelet is a dead giveaway. Great job though, as always! Thanks
TGV, this installment is possibly my favorite. Hard to judge though as you've posted some incredible content. I loved the intro, very clever and undoubtedly funny. The watches featured in the show almost seem like product placements. They almost seem to go out of their way to flaunt the watches. BTW, on another note, I'm driving my wife crazy now because whenever we watch television I am constantly pausing to get another look at someone's watch to get a better look. You did that to me! 😁
Brilliant Intro TGV. You're solidly back in your usual fine form. Never did like The Sopranos, like watching paint dry. But that was a long time ago. It's likely hugely binge-worthy so I'll give it a go!
Two watches that you didn't mention that are worth highlighting. There's the gold Rolex Daytona that was a gift to Father Phil and then the time when the construction wiseguys talk about Corum.

The production, interlopped dialogue and the scripted Hugo's betrayal are a work of art in itself. The idea of describing this guys watches is just brilliant....
Great watch spotting! In addition to the pieces you mentioned, I recall a character in Season 6(?) who wanted out of the Family bringing Tony some David Yurman watches as gifts....but we never see them on screen. Also, the fact Meadow wore a Daytona (as a teenager in the show) is absolutely obnoxious. All in all this was a great video, one of the best in my opinion. Great to see you back in form.
An absolute brilliant video TGV. I'm a huge fan of your channel and the Soprano's show. Thanks for the humor and all your hard work educating me on watches. Blessings!!!
