I have been a customer of this bakery for many years. It's the welcoming atmosphere, exceptional customer experience, and consistently high-quality products that keep me coming back.
This is an extremely well made - dare I say, documentary! It captures the essence of that man Salamat so well. His entire aura gave a vibe of bambaiyya side characters in 70s Amitabh bacchan movies. I dont know if i'll ever meet that man but he's the kind of character that one'd want to have long chats with on a slow day. May his tribe grow!
I absolutely love this person and his honesty. He's got his humour on point too😂. Obviously an extremely intelligent and insightful, can't go wrong with that. Watching from Durban in South Africa
I have been a customer of this bakery since 2003 till 2008 during study time in Pune and this year when visiting Pune I went to buy cashew nut cookies, shrewberry and they were remained the same taste, one of the best.
I usually don't comment, but the guy is literally so really sweet and fun to watch. His dexterity is really remarkable, and his fun-loving attitude is just contagious. May God bless Him, his Family, and the cameraman who made this.
City Bakery,I’ve been enjoying your products since my childhood, and they hold a special place in my heart. My dad used to bring shrewsbury biscuits from your shop, and we would eagerly wait for him to come home just to savor them. Those moments were pure joy, filled with love and the aroma of your delightful biscuits. Even today, every bite takes me back to those cherished days, making me feel nostalgic. Thank you for being a part of my family’s memories and for continuing to bring the same taste and quality that we’ve loved for years.
Oh, once again, you guys have interviewed the Best people in this world, the Parsis / Iranis, in Pune. THE CITY BAKERY. The Pride Of Pune. Standing proud for four generations, on M G Road. One of my most favourite places to go to for bakery products. Pure Honest & Delicious. Just like it’s name ‘THE City Bakery’ yes it is the CITY’S bakery. Makes Pune rich in traditions and is one of the oldest great joints of the city. Early in the mornings & evenings (every season) you’ll see the owner Mr.Salamat taking his beautiful dog for a walk around the Bishop school. His shop is simple in decor no frills, no shu-shas, just ordinary clean and nice, and now more so, you get varieties of bakery products, after his son has taken over, and introduced more products. Every item is a ‘food for the soul’ they taste so nice you want to buy all. I’ve been in Pune now for about 40+ years, and when my kids were small it was a ritual to go to MG Rd, stop by at City bakery and pick up bread, biscuits and other items. They taste simply delicious. And owners such a sweet smiling couple, I remember once when my daughter wanted to buy a cookie but didn’t know it’s taste, the lady at the counter just picked up one and gave it to her to taste. And that’s it, it became a regular buy. They are such lovely people, always smiling. Now the visit became once in a while as the kids are grown up and gone. But your vdo has rekindled and brought back nostalgic beautiful memories. Yes, The City Bakery of Pune holds many fond and sweet memories of our younger days. Thank you Salamat, and thank you for the lovely vdo. You must also interview the GREEN FIELDS people of Pune Mr. Chinoy. The Cheese people. Now I’ve gone far-far away but I still miss my beautiful Pune so very much. And all these simple sweet places and people who are still around with their smiles sharing their love and respect with us, who are honest and pure at heart who don’t care for money in this dirty competitive world. Thank you God Bless (from US)

I have already watched the first video of this witty and ever smiling man around 3 years back.just love the way he appears.I will definitely visit this place during my next trip.
Sallu bhai, still the same from when we were in school together. Will definitely visit him on my trip to India after a decade. Thanks for making this. He’s still the same funny guy.
Was amazed by the frankness and openess of Salamat. Great going guys. Really seems to be an amazing personality. Never been to City Bakery. Its the topmost in my 'To Visit' list. Thanks for such a wonderful post.
They seem to be the most satisfied and happy people on the earth. This father-son duo is an inspiration, they know exactly what is the key to happiness.
Absolutely loved this video. The gentleman , Mr. Salamat, represents the quintessential Parsi Bawa. He is the salt of the earth. So down to earth , ~~~his observations on life are spot on. Also thank you for the beautiful musical score."La valse D' Amélie"❤ Meant for this video.
@@DIG_VJ Please could you make another video on Mr. Salamat, covering anecdotes and exchanges with customers . Bearing in mind that he has a delightful sense of humour, many interesting nuggets can be yielded from this research. @@sarahp1383 Currently working on some other hidden gems in Pune. I will definitely keep this in mind. What other kind of subjects/people would you be interested in watching?
@DIG_VJ Thank you for your response. What would I like to see? Anything to do with the Parsis , their sense of humour , eccentricities and their large hearted ways. Also there is a hidden gem as you approach Moledina road from the Cantt side...a road turns off to the Army Medical supplies depot. Deep inside this army base, is a fort like monument ~~~where, was played out the last tragic days of Ghashi Ram Kotwal...out of bounds to civilians but if you know some one in the Army , you can have a look at this protected monument . steeped in history The other stories ....would be linked to the Peths of Pune They would be very interesting as also what goes on in the Mandai in Lakshmi Road in the early hours before business begins, and of course the unforgettable vegetable and fruit vendors who sing out the prices of their wares in their rich, resonant voices. There was a Bai I met , sitting cross legged on the floor selling ripe pumpkin wedges , resembling gondolas . After handing back small change to me, she disclosed to me that her daughter was studying in England. I was stumped. Their stories could be made into fascinating videos. There are also beautiful bungalows belonging to colonial times lining Phyrie road with exquisite spiral staircases...worth a closer look And last ...the war memorial in Khadki and the Ohel David synagogue in the heart of Pune. Thank you for your courtesy in asking for suggestions.
What an amazing person. Absolutely down to earth. Legends. Highly inspirational. Time to visit after years. I use to go there while cycling on sundays with my friend, almost a decade ago. Had completely forgotten about this place after a few years being outside Pune and India
Congratulations!Keep the good work up Salamat, I love the variety of items City Bakery makes,Thank u Salamat &Astad for the tasty chicken puffs and Delicious Donuts
This bakery is a partnership firm. Where Mr . Sheriar his elder brother is also a partner. Which he has not mentioned. Because, he and his son has physically assaulted him. Ask him the truth, if he has the guts to tell you. He and his son are criminals on police records. And his wife has the audacity to file a false police complaint that Mr. Sheriar molested her. Thats the disgusting level to what these people have gone to for the sake of property.i@@eclairz
Lovely documentary type footage. So nice to get to know the people behind small businesses such as this iconic bakery. We need to support these family run businesses so that they don’t end up closing or being run over by corporate giants. Thank you for sharing this story ❤
