      @@bullethead1953 I currently have gotten my masters degree. I have a year of experience in cybersecurity now, but had to leave the job I was getting experience in. I also am up to 10 certifications now, including the CEH, and still cannot find a cyber job.

    Man I failed my Net+ exam today. What a let down. So now, I'm trying to see what jobs I can get with just A+. All I want to do is be a network administrator. You know, one of these guys that runs up and down the stairs configuring switches.

    Since the A+ cert is hardware based, I don't need it If I'm looking to get into cybersecurity right?

    Quick question when you get a Cert , do they expire?

  • @lonerboiiiii
    @lonerboiiiii 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Doesn’t matter how many certifications you have. You need experience first of all.

      Catch-22 : You got CompTIA A+, N+, Linux+. You apply for entry level jobs. However, you need two years experience to obtain said position. I burned $600 in boot camps and certs., got no where but a part time gig offer at Best Buy that paid peanuts.
      Enrolled in a unemployment sponsored Allied Health training and got night shift full time work at a hospital.
      Folks, you gotta do your research before burning money on useless certs.

      @@ferndog1461 you're wrong. got my A+ cert in 2018 and currently working in an IT storage company. Starting rate was 25$/hr. I had no experience in IT prior.
      Job interview is an extremely important piece of the puzzle and you're attitude as well.

    You do not need to waste money on comptia. Study the material, know the tech, be able to speak intelligently.
    Get ccna, ccnp, and cloud certs. The only reason to get comptia is of you want gov jobs.

    Network net worth blah blah this is old thing thrown around in every industry and while it may be sort of true you have to know politics and how to market yourself at the end of the day tech is no different than big pharma, sales, finance etc. marketing is what keeps these big engines going companies want people who can sell themselves on a position. Anyone can gain skill but can people sell?

      Maybe it's thrown around in every industry because it's true 🤷🏾‍♂️
