      I like listening to Andrew for his drumming and his take on different styles and techniques. I love like listening to the old decomposing geezer for his takes on the technical aspects of the whole arrangement. I listen on occasion to classical artists to hear their input on vocals such as David on Sound of Silence. There is so much more than just people going omg that was intense, or oh that sucked. A good reaction will explain why and how.

    Tatiana on vocals, Eugene on Bass, Roman on guitar and of course Vlad on drums. This song was from their "King of Everything" album, which was released before Vlad joined the band. They liked the different vibe Vlad brought to the song so they made this video to showcase him as their newest member. It's become a reaction staple because of Tatiana's insane vocal changes. Since joining Jinjer, Vlad has written much of the music. He is the only one with a traditional musical education - he's a classically trained pianist and multi-instrumentalist that is just magical on drums. The band hails from Ukraine and you've just witnessed the tip of a very impressive iceberg here. Anything and everything they have out is simply amazing, you can't go wrong exploring these guys!

      I went to see them here in the states when they first toured. I was able to meet all of them and purchase a used snare head from Vlad, with all of their signatures on it. I have it framed and lit in my studio, along side of the CD that I had them all sign. Both prized possessions, but meeting them was probably the coolest thing. Eugene was my favorite though.

      cool didn't know that Vlad was clasically trained, explains his smooth drumlines in their song though. If a guitarist or a drummer writes drum lines certainly makes a difference, but when said drummer has a background as another instrumentalist, that usually indicates he is also heavily involved in Songwriting. Hannes Grossmann for example comes to mind, who also had a huge influence on the first two Obscura-albums, more than some might realize.

    One of my favorite things about this number is that ALL the parts are great. She's amazing. The drummer is amazing. The bass player is amazing. The guitarist is amazing. I've often wondered about their process of putting this together in the studio: Does one person know how to make the MOST out of all four or are they just the best coordinated unit ever? I mean, they'd almost have to all be chipping in with their specialities instead of playing what one person planned? I know the guys make the music and then she writes lyrics afterwards, but is one of them a virtuosic genius or something?

      Vlad is a virtuosic genius. Apparently he writes much of the music, and then they all add their own flair and chops. And the craziest part is that Tatiana never writes any lyrics until the songs are finished and she's going into the studio to record. She procrastinates untill the last minute, and says she works best under pressure. She somehow finds perfect vocal lines over what are insane musical parts, full of shifting time signatures and extreme dynamics. Often her voice is the thread that ties a part together.
      Vlad didn't even play drums until not long before he joined Jinjer, I believe. Hard to believe, he's so talented, innovative and subtle.

    Finally a reaction that cares about Vlad's monster drum fill coming out of the second chorus!
    He's got a nice intricate transition late in "pit of consciousness" that you'd probably like too, on top of the solid playing in the rest of the song

    I've watched so many reactions to this studio performance since the "first" reaction, glad you got to see it as well, LOL, and it's almost always the same reaction, either yours "stunned speechlessness" LOL, or a more direct "scared/startled" reaction (one lady said she "peed herself a bit" LOL....) it's definitely the most "reactive" of reaction videos I've ever seen people do (probably seen 10-12 different ones)... and her voice (normal) is so beautiful and haunting, it just enhances the contrast dramatically.
    Also, it really is her, and several of the vocal coach reactors have delved into it further, Jinjer herself has gone on to vlog with a few of them, as well as independently teaching her "scream" technique (more of a guttural roar)... anyone can do it to some degree of course, but not to this dramatic effect (and shouldn't try without proper knowledge/practice of "safe" execution).
    Love it!

    @jakeloranger1419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really liked Vlad's open handed playing style with left hand on the hi-hat or the right hand on the ride. It's something I've been working on for quite some time. I know of some drummers who play in the open style but moved the ride over to the left side so that they do all their ride patterns with the left hand. When I started playing open, I decided to keep the ride on the right so that if I played on someone else's kit, I wouldn't need switch anything around. I also found that practicing beats both ways (left hand on hi-hat and then right hand on ride) helped me to really understand what was happening in the groove, where each note lay and where limbs played in unison.
    Anyway Vlad nailed it. And I agree that his playing was transparent in a good way. What he played fit each part in such an unobtrusive manner that the focus was constantly on the singer and the melody. The only time he stood out was on the one blazing fill, creating just enough tension and surprise (as in WTF) leading into a brief pause before the vocals came back in. Talk about leaving the ego at the door and serving the music. Great!
    I hope the singer is using some kind of technique to achieve the low growl. Because other wise she'll run into serious problems later on. It would be sad if she ruined her voice just for effect.

    • @Tunguska688
      @Tunguska688 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Howdy. Tatiana has been using this technique since 2010 at least. If anything her vocals only got better since then. She is using vestibular folds or false vocal cords technique to achieve this sound. If you wish to explore it a little bit farther, here is the funniest and yet the most comprehensive video I have come across yet explaining what's going on here vocally. th-cam.com/video/qWUUrdQfjn8/w-d-xo.html

    Subscribed to see you do more Jinjer videos. Best band on Earth right now. The more videos you do of them, the more impressed you'll be by them. Vlad is a beast on the drums. He is very fun to listen to and watch. A lot of the time he plays with two high hats. One he uses normally, an a second one tucked way back that he only plays with the foot pedal. If you react to their song "On the Top" live in Kiev, it's really easy to pick out, but the more you listen to them, you can pick it out in most songs.

    Love the reaction! It's always fun to watch people react to this song!
    If you are on the hunt for different drummers and bands to react to, you might enjoy the band Nightwish and their drummers Kai Hahto and Jukka Nevelainnen. Jukka is the original drummer, an incredible artist and performer, and when he had to quit the band due to health issues he recruited his friend Kai to take his place. Kai has been described as "a human metronome" and his speed is stunning. I admit I'm no expert on drumming, but some of his drumcam vids have left me with my jaw on the floor. He was previously with the band Wintersun, and if you want to see him in his element I recommend Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars. Otherwise, the traditional first Nightwish song for reactors is Ghost Love Score (Live at Wacken 2013) which was filmed with Jukka.

    They were already so good even in the previous line-up with 2 guitars. Now they're gone kind of viral on YT and got the success that they earn last year, despite covid. They are a band that I wish all good in their career and hope it lasts loooong. I haven't heard one bad Jinjer song, and I guess I heard them all in the meantime....

Unbelievable energy from the stage. First time I heard Tatania, I had EXACTLY the same reaction as yourself. Reminds me of my ex fiancée, whom I met when I played in a band with her and she did the clean/dirt vocal n al... Tatania is something else.
