This is a funny way to build dredge, lol jk I do love this as well

Every man and their dog is running Relic in the sideboard currently. Need to just wait until they start taking them out for dredge to strike again.

Pyrotechnics strangely seems like the best solution to the conundrum with Cascade, which gives it a really odd "sometimes-Fury" vibe

4 damage is fine I guess, but 20 to the dome is just too good not to play.

There were identical Altar-Tron lists that went 5-0 in Leagues and 3-1 at the MTGO Pauper Preliminary with different pilots, but they had ZERO COPIES of Expedition Map. I would love to see a review and analysis on those.

I don't generally play Altar Tron, UW Familiars or Poison Storm because Kalikaiz does a lot of those videos and therefore I don't really think I have the chops to give a good enough analysis. I didn't think they usually ran Map as it was too slow? They churn through their deck quick enough and paying 2 to crack a map seems like it wastes too much time. It also seems bad to draw into after you already have Tron. At least Crop Rotation can act as a ritual when you are combing off.

I got this deck in paper and have also done some iterating. I also decided that the deck just needs lembas. Card is great.
I personally really did not like the clashing of boarding party and thunder/torch. I feel like the deck should basically be trying to do one or the other: either go big stompy cascade monster with maelstrom colossus, or go more control / burn X for face with torch.
Self Assembler and oliphant seem like a good enough creature top end to me, although maybe filigree familiars come back as a cheaper value creature to play to the board. I’ll be testing more.

Yeah, I also found the same with boarding party. But then I play some games like against fae where I play 3 boarding party and they just lose. We need some large red/colourless creature that produces some sort of card advantage but what that is I don't know.

@@Kirblinxy True, the card is basically necessary in certain matchups… Could it be correct to make boarding party a sideboard card? Seems weird on its face, but Swapping out your X spells in matches with counter spells or where you need to clock your opponent like against combo decks seems good, and that would eliminate the fail rate that happens by main decking both cards.

@@KirblinxyI looked up some creatures for Red and colorless that have a 5 casting cost. This is what I saw.
      Emrakul's Hatcher
      Falkenrath Celebrants
      Guardians of Koilos
      Kami of Industry
      Lightning Shrieker
      Rapacious Dragon
      Warbeast of Gorgoroth
Out of all of these. I think that Hatcher, or Kami of industry would be your best bet. Kami woukd be good to get back either Lembas or Candy Trail. You'll get the scry effects again. And at least with Lembas you'll get more draw again. So a line of play with Boarding party, into Kami, into Lembas is essentially a 3 for 1.

I looked at Kami of Industry, and thought it could be okay, but you need to have both 7 mana for it and a Candy Trail in the GY for it to draw a card. You can't use Lembas because it never goes into the graveyard.

Whoa, how'd campfire get so expensive?

The Baldur's Gate set never really got opened on mtgo, so there isn't many copies online as other commons. They'll put them in treasure chests eventually to make the price come down. Just like they did with the initiative creatures.

Been playing this pretty consistently in paper for most of this year

How's it been going for you? It seems pretty decent at going 2-2 or better whenever I've played it. Has some rough matchups, but it seems to pull through against most things.

What's your thought on mono green stompy ?

    • @Kirblinxy
      @Kirblinxy  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

I think that the Kuldotha Red is just a better version of Mono Green these days. Has more card draw and easier to go wide than Stompy. If the format goes away from Breath Weapon and Prismatic Strands and more to spot removal then I think Stompy has a better chance as it shines in protecting it's creatures more than any other aggro deck. If you want to go wide go red, if you want to go tall go bogles. Although it has gone 4-2 in the last 2 challenges I've seen it in, so it can still win games.
