Nooo, don't make the secret brews public knowledge before my next FNM 😜
@@martingrotz They can't be that secret if I've managed to find them 😉
Fun deck! I got really close to a trophy with a similar shell (added sprites and removed a few 1 ofs and 4-1'd), it's super funky
@khornii8129 I mean my run wasn't as good, but there is definitely something here just needs some redefining.
This look fun
in paper this deck is even better, since mtgo doens't have Steadfast Unicorn
@@fel_95 Mtgo does have Stradfast Unicorn. I did see some lists play it last year. Just requires too much mana to make use of its ability.
@@Kirblinxy oh does it? my bad, I've never seen it , many trading sites don't even list it so I thought it wasn't one of the cards from Bgate added in. Honestly I've been very impressed by the card IRL since it's a mana sink for a rally that can be taken by Buglar. If opponent has ran out of removal, activating each turn unicorn is game changing
Hello! Do you plan to publish a report of your win of the pauper challenge this week with ww?
I might do a replay video just to commemorate the win. I didn't record this run as I was feeling rather ill. Just don't expect it until midweek as the replay videos take a while to make.
i would recommend Sprout Swarm for the teachings wincon, it snowballs
Now this is podracing
Amazing content! Is it possible to keep doing this or changes made to decklists are not allowing it? Thanks 🙂
It's doable but sample sizes are smaller because I won't know what the decks are under the top 32 for the challenges I can't play in. I am trying to recruit some people to watch replays for me but it is a decent amount of work.
@@Kirblinxy wow, I believed you were using the API provided by census. This seems an insane work to do, would be great to have more support, so this is simpler for you and other content creators. This really helps average players grow 💪💪
swirling sandstorm 1x?
@kirblinx: why does your channel not have the „thank you“ funktion (=donation function)? I‘d like to donate smth for all your efforts (especially challenge data) for the pauper community.
@arcobrunner1979 I don't know how to set it up. Someone suggested I do a Patreon for the data stuff but I don't want to paywall it. The only thing I want to get money for is so I can enter the online events I can't participate in just I can watch the replays and get the full meta instead of what just Wizards wants to show. If you have any good ideas I am all ears.
@@Kirblinxymaybe you can ask kali how to set that function up on yt? He has it, so I guess he knows how its done.
@@Kirblinxybut I don‘t know how much yt takes from the donations for themselves.
Thank you so much for this list! I'm getting back into pauper after a long hiatus, saw your list and jumped on a league to test it, went 4-1, lost to Mono w Heroic due to a combination of nut draws from the oponent and my innexperience with MTGO, ended up timing out hahahahahaha
@leonardohenriquecarvalhoes4746 No probs! Deck still feels criminally underrated. Main problems are Walls and Gardens but gardens is almost non existent which is nice. Walls we just need to find room for more removal.
@@Kirblinxy I think it is underrated because it feels like an old underpowered deck, but Thraben Charm is insane, it helps with a lot of core problems that the deck had before it.
Im confused, 1:34:35 during thisnturn after they tapped out why didnt you glee? You have a token and could have just made an infinitely large broodscale so they couldnt shaman it? Am i missing something? Oh. Its the treasure tokens isnt it. Still not used to them lol.
@THE_BASED_GOD Yeah you are correct with the 2 treasure being up. If I knew a Krark-Clan was coming next turn I could have tried to see if they had the blast in hand but I thought the likelihood of that was higher than another Krark. They had both anyway 🤷
@@Kirblinxy Yeah im coming back after barely playing for years so im very much not used to treasure or other kinds of tokens introduced, didnt realize. Makes sense now.
4 Ponder, 0 Augur? What in tarnation
My goodness, where are other decks gone? Only broodscale and ponza...
@matteoalani Sometimes variance goes that way and you play the same decks. Meta is varied, if not a little linear. I'll have a post MH3 meta video out in a couple of weeks.
Lifestaff in the side is kinda dope, completely forgot about the card in the recent meta but it actually seems crazy good with all the dispute effects these days
@@devangoad The old Black Sac staple. It has been pretty good for me in leagues even though it didn't do much this run.
Oh jeez… how to take advantage of a high to infinite power creature >intelligent answer : trample effects! >galaxy brain : wipe the board for one mana.
What's going on with MTGO decklists?
@matthewmagda4971 I think wizards didn't like the amount of data Daybreak was giving out. They will fix the decklist postings next week but will go back to only top 32 of challenges and not all 5-0's will get posted. It's a sad day for data.
@@Kirblinxyindeed. It's sad because the ppc emphasizes MTGO Leagues over Challenges. Secrecy, much?
@@matthewmagda4971 What's the ppc?
@@Kirblinxyit's the group of hacks and casuals that WotC puts in charge of the format... Pauper Player Council, or some nonsense.
Is jund really the way to go? Golgari has done great for me with a much greater emphasis on the token generation (village rites, Bequeathal, gardens etc)
@vladdogarel263 Just depends on how you like to play. I like the grindy game plan that the Chrysalis allows instead of just building resources and overloading in one turn to combo off like Golgari. Also depends on what you expect to see, Jund is better against Affinity and Red, Golgari is better against the mirror and other combo decks.
@@Kirblinxyyeah that makes sense. Golgari has for some reason been pretty insane for me at grinding though. I’m undefeated into Izzet terror and positive into affinity in leagues. So much card advantage and hand disruption
molten gatekeeper is better than nightblate because you can also unearth it if you diacard it with malevolent rumble, also i play 3 duress main deck and they won me a lot of games
Yeah the unearth part is so cool
@@leggendalex98 There are so many different ways people are building the deck. It is interesting which ways people go. My old version had Mesmeric Feind because you could hit it off rumble. I also like Gatekeeper and just forgot about it because it wasn't in the list that I took.
Time to play Fling, I guess.
Hey❤💚🖤
Congrats on the 5-0 ! I really appreciate that you played against it in the last video, then you play it here as a showcase. So what could be the next deck played ? 🤔😅 Jund Broodscale ? Even though you played your own version ?
Thanks! They don't come around too often. I actually recorded Jund Broodscale the same time as my own version, so I was just going to leave that as a vault video. I never know what deck I am going to play until I scramble to make a video on the Sunday 😅
Idk why the Mono U Fae player didn't resign after your crypt inversion. They're not possibly winning this, they should save their clock for game 2/3
Fanged flames kills indestructible creatures (like an animated bridge)
Not from what I can read. (I did triple check this to make sure)
Augur of Bolas is a necessary part of this deck for success….sucks it wasn’t included in this deck and it showed 👎👎👎👎
hi5 & gg's congrats on the trophy :)
Cheers! They don't come around often so it's nice when I get them on video.
My favourite deck!! Thank you thank you! What an awesome video =D
Glad you enjoyed! More people than I thought have called this their favourite deck.
Ur control was my first pauper deck ever (like 10 years ago or something) so it will always have a spot in my heart.
I bet it looks nothing like it does now. My first was WG Aura Gnarlid. Mildly surprised how many of the cards in that still see play tbh.
@@Kirblinxy well, counterspells, bolts and cantrips remained, the rest changed a lot. Back in that day, Spire golem used to be a serious threat. OH yea, auras are cool. Remember when I was playing mirror and oppo had standard bearer which I had no answer for.
i sure miss casting pieces of the puzzle and flurry of horns
@@_counterspell pieces of the puzzle, that was a great deck.
At 1:40 couldn’t you Fanged Flames the Writhing Chrysalis in response to the second Spawn sac trigger and kill it before it got the 1/1 counter, and not lose your attacking Azure Fleet Commodore?
This would have been a great line, if only Fanged Flames wasn't a Sorcery.
@@Kirblinxy doh, sorry, fanged flames is even worse than I thought.
So many funny moments in this one. "I don't know how they get out of this... Swamp might do it... Fanged flames doesn't even kill the Crystalis..." I appreciate the light hearted comments I was thinking the same thing everytime. Those games where your opponent is dead 4x over and they go to untap as you're thinking... I dont expect Ill lose but if I have not done enough Im not sure what to say.
I've always been a pessimist, so I guess I always try and figure out the worst outcome and how I can play around it. Glad you are enjoying the commentary, still find it hard to not have dead air but feel I've gotten a lot better over the year.
Great video as always! A request: The new Rakdos with sneaky snacker is super fun, I would love a video on it!
Seen a couple of other people put out a video of that deck already since it won Paupergeddon. I'll probably get around to it at some point, lots of decks to chose from recently.
Hello @Kirblinxy ! How bad would think it would be to change red to black? Snuff Outs and Agony Warps/Cat Downs for the red target spells and a Thorn for the red Pirate. Drown in Sorrows instead of the red sweepers. Would that be so bad, I wonder?
drown in sorrow is sorcery speed, and skred is better value for the mana. just my 2 cents.
The real draw of red is those 1 mana removal spells. Sure you have Snuff Out but then all the other black removal is 2 mana, and that costs twice as much as skred! I did play UB teachings just be MH3 came out which shows how that removal suite works if you want to check out that vid.
Both UR and UB are good, but have different matchup preferences. Black is slightly better against creature combos (due to snuff out) and grave-synergy decks(boujuka and spellbomb). Red plays best sweeper(breath weapon) and arguably more efficient removal package, also is superior sideboard color (pyroblasts and artifact hate).
Walls played poorly on the second game. After playing 2 Axebane, should have transmuted Drift of Phantasms for Drift for Drift for Reaping the Graves returning the 3 Drift (or 2, if 1 copy got countered) to hand and then get set for the next turn. Going for the easy counterable option was definitely a mistake.
I think I mentioned this when they transmuted as that would have been the line I would have gone for. I figured I had lost that game after the winding way hit 4 cards so I definitely got away with that win.
why fanged flames instead of flame slash ?
It's colorless so it hits Guardian of the Guildpact
@@heathebutler7143 I see thanks for the hindsight .
Awesome content as usual! I'd love to see more UR leagues as you seem to be very confident playing the deck and it seems very consistent
This would have been the first time I played the deck, so I wouldn't say I was confident. I have a lot of meta knowledge of Pauper so I generally have a good idea what cards I need to draw and what cards I need to remove/counter of the opponents. I try not to play the same deck for a while so you probably won't see me play this again unless new cards come out for it. I'll probably play a Jeskai list soon at some point that might be of interest to you.
@@Kirblinxy That's awesome. I meant "confident" in the way that I could tell that you definitely knew what you were doing and it was really nice seeing someone pilot this deck that fluently. Knowing it was a first time is astonishing. I'll look forward to the jeskai list then. Thanks!
Lets see vs a good combo player like Saidin or Apas 😊
Maybe my tag line was a bit to click-baity this time. I would probably get roasted by those two, but sometimes luck goes my way.
Ur!?!!... instalike
People do seem to like control and not many pauper content creators seem to fill that niche. Hope you enjoy.
Dislike for rooting against Team Combo :p
TBH I don't even know what team I am on. I guess I am just a hipster and now combo is too mainstream, got to knock it down a peg. Midrange and Control need love too.
Yay
But it's not stompy 🤔
@@Kirblinxy nah i see how entitled I am. I love stompy but I learn to appreciate the pauper content more Plus andrea mengucci really got me to like skred terror.
Is there any reason to play breath weapon over cannonade?
Definitely! Sweepers are here mostly for kuldotha-red decks. And they have too much pirates now (cannonade does no damage to them). Otherwise cannonade would be better.
@@TheForesterf How are you replying quicker to my videos than I am 😅 Foresterf is right though, it is mainly there for red and they run 2 different pirates (Lackey, Raider) so you want the sweeper to make sure it actually clears the board.
@@Kirblinxy Kinda passionate about this deck, sorry! It was one of my best deckbuilding attemps, and I'm still proud and happy that it keeps winning!
oh I see, I totally forgot red playing pirates nowadays. Totally makes sense then
Nice run, man! Happy to see deck still performing well after a year! Don't like absence of Augurs, they are sooo good and synergistic in deck with brainstorms/ponders/breathweapons/loriens/monarch and most likely the best card in the deck. Also, preordains are not preferred cantrip here, another sorcery speed one, and generally worse then consider/thoughtscour with bs/ponders/terrors.
Thanks! I am by no means a control specialist, so all of these suggestions are probably correct. The deck was straight from Spock, who has played more of this deck than anyone else, so I assumed the changes were done for a reason (I assume for the ponza heavy meta). I think I was just lucky with my matchups like if I played against Kuldotha I would have really wanted Augur. I could see Consider instead of Preordain, really wanted to hold up mana a lot during this league.
Nice run with Tribe last challenge too btw! I can't believe you weren't the only one on the deck either.
@@KirblinxyThanks! How you keep track of decks without decklists being posted? Even played mirror against real master of tribe-combo EhDM. Btw, deck looks absurdly good in current meta, most opponents can barely interact with it!
@@TheForesterf I look at all the replays after the event has ended to catalogue the decks. I can only do it for events I am in. I tried Tribe in a league last week and went 0-2 drop. I think I just had bad luck.
first! having a blast with your videos, thanks for the awesome content as always <3
No probs! Thanks for watching my ~content~
Thoughts on the W 1/1 flying living weapon and the bestow mentor bear? Both seems like good mana sinks and a good way to push evasive damage through.
The mentor bear doesn't push evasive damage through, I think it is a little too under curve for the current meta. The living weapon is also a little under curve. If thr equip cost was 2 we would be talking. I think it only really jas a chance with some artifact synergy.
hi5 & gg's
Hi5 👋
Given how you played M1 and M2 to mana screw ur OPs, M4G1 i think you lose cause you weren't paying attention to blow up their sprawl and mana screw them turn 2. M4G2 i think you lose again in a similar situation when you let them untap and don't blow up their utopia again post etherial armor (which doesn't do much w/o them having white mana or lands altogether). Hindsight is 20/20 but i think you noticed these lines yourself and you said so. As an ex boggles player they have notoriously horrendous mana with mainly mono forest mana base but half their enchantments being white.
Yeah, I realise this in the end. In previous decks I am used to having very minimal enchantment hate and you used to need to hit the pay-off enchantments to win. Now that this deck has so many you just need to make them stumble on mana as much as possible at the start and didn't realise this until it was all over. While I played that round bad, really happy with how I recovered in my play in round 6.
@@Kirblinxy Yea R6 was def the the nail-biter and the hardest one to play imo. I couldn't have done it. Great job overall! :)
Nice to see your brews and matches. Love to see you against Bogles (it's one of my favs). You'd better kill all Utopias directly to save your own ;-)
Yeah if I learnt anything this challenge it is to kill the Bogles Utopia Sprawl to slow them down or just colour screw them.
These dredge builds are getting crazy
There do be a lot of flashback cards
haven't seen a ww list I like since deluxeicoff way back, very cool. only q- isn't destroy evil redundant given so much enchantment hate via charm?
Was pretty handy against UR Control, to kill their creatures at instant speed. Also nice against Ponza as extra copies of Thraben Charm. They should probably just be changed to Journey to Nowhere to help against walls as I don't know what else to cut.
My favorite deck! I cant bring myself to cut Squadron Hawk though. It feels wrong ;(
A 1/1 flyer for 2 doesn't really do that much though. Also, one of the worst feelings is drawing your second copy of hawk when you are yet to play the first one.
