This video has less jokes than my other video, but I believe it's an important topic to bring up. I am worried about the level of communication we have on this game, and it's not the 'keeping things mysterious', it's a problem with core systems and miscommunications. I hope you still enjoy!
Your previous vid reminded me of that game again, I had no clue it was so close to release. I'm not much into Runescape but I thought Brighter Shores is looking to be a fun past time for people who likes seeing numbers go up. I linked up the game to some friend's Discord where we talk a lot about gaming and non replied or even got curious about the game. I feel like they'd be interested in such type of game (since we enjoy trying new MMO's and such) but no one really knows about the name at all. Brighter Shores is shaping up to be a genuine game that puts gameplay forward instead of "what's going to be our monetization" as design philosophy, at least that's what I feel like given we know who is the creator. They really need to ramp up the marketing so that people will know about it and so that the max amount of people try it at the start at least.
I never played RuneScape at all, so Brighter Shores will be my first experience into the old school feeling MMORPG. I'm going to give it a try, but I have an issue with the lack of gameplay as well. The only thing we have seen are some clips of being a detective and moving between rooms. Nothing at all about critical things such as what does it mean to be a Cryoknight vs. a Guardian vs. a Hammermage? Are Hammermages best at magic or can all 3 classes use say Fireball at the same power? If so, what are the differences? What is combat even like? What is gathering and crafting like? Are there any dungeons/raids? Will I be at a huge disadvantage having never played RuneScape compared to people who know the general gist of this game because of it? How much is the subscription? So many questions, not even one answer and the game comes out in 2 weeks? I highly doubt that. It will probably either (1) release and be extremely buggy (being unable to progress/players abusing glitches/unexpected things happening requiring character wipes/etc.), or (2) get delayed a few months and maybe go into beta before the end of the year.
I understand your concerns entirely, and the lack of information is definitely what causes these kinds of questions. My video is definitely pointing to your example as what the lack of information causes. I strongly believe you can still have mystery about the game, without putting people off like this. He tweeted today that the release date is still as expected, and people are playing the Closed Beta right now. Recently he removed trading as a feature until the future, as he doesn't think it'll be ready for launch - oops! I hope you try on the 6th and see if you have fun all the same.
I feel like this situation presents kind of a cool thing where the marketing is just word of mouth. And I've found that people are a lot less hostile towards games that aren't advertised to them
I actually agree, games that pop up with word of mouth are exciting - Hi-Fi Rush is my best example of this. I unfortunately just believe that the questions people don't have answers for cause more damage than good.
Was surprised to see my video popup here haha, and I agree with your message. I have pretty much felt the same ever since I made my first video back in June. Nothing has really changed. It does not feel right to continue making videos for a game that we have little to zero knowledge about. it also makes it worse knowing that you may not even like the game because of the limited amount of gameplay footage that we have seen as you have mentioned it. I have been pretty vocal about this for a while now but the fanboys continue to ride Andrew and pretend like its not an issue. I guess we will just have to wait and see on the 6th. Hope to see you grow sir!
Thank you! I think that criticism is important to see the game grow and flourish into something we can enjoy, but unfortunately any mention of something like this makes people upset. I have been following the game for a long time and decided to make the content I wanted to see.
No one is talking about this game but I’ve been excited about it since he first announced it! 😂 hopefully that means we’ll all get nice names before the others come
Seems like they are deliberately not pushing Marketing until "Full Release" a few months of people actually playing "Early Release". As a passion project of a guy with deep pockets... If you heard about BG3, you know the end result of this type model vs. your normal big corporation pushing out junk for $$ grab(i.e. New World)... This game will be awesome and slowly grow the base. Perfect.
It's irrelevant. If it's a good game, then people will soon know about it. No one knew what RuneScape was. A few dozen people played it. It was a great game so it spread with word of mouth. People overcomplicate things. If it's a good product then it will sell.
Idk ive known about this game for months and have seen tons of content on it, i think its just in a dry spell at the moment because it hasnt released a new trailer or anything

If you didnt play rs this game isnt for you, why do you even bother? go play runescape... its much richer and better.
not gonna lie. i had no idea it was even having a closed beta or when it's release date was until this video
I'm glad I brought it to your attention! That's definitely one of the reasons I made this.

I made a osrs ironman just to kill time and asked around a bit and no1 knew what Brighter Shore was lol

I'm holding hopes that at least after release communication will be better.
I wonder if it hasn't been advertised much at all in order to better gague how the server will handle at launch?
I was about to say "looks like a Runescape clone" and then read it's the Runescape creator lol
I think its word of mouth by design.
Hilarious new sub 👍🏼
bro its a 3 man team, don't expect much comms when they are working on the game
nice vid. i agree, they need to turn on the marketing hose

Dumb take
Hoping that this is the last quiet week. The week of the 28th though I hope they get things rolling.
I hope to see the NDA lifted on the Closed Beta for curated content (and not streaming) as we approach the release date.
Idk ive known about this game for months and have seen tons of content on it, i think its just in a dry spell at the moment because it hasnt released a new trailer or anything
the end screen and music was a nice touch
banger video.
What's twitter
If I get a late start, will I be able to buy gold, assuming player-to-player is in by then?
How do you make a whole video on more transparent communication then disable likes on your own video 🤡
I'll be honest, I didn't notice. just a noob here. I've turned them on.
It looks extremely bland and uninspiring tho sadly
There is no way this game releases on the 6th.
