    I listened to Maps of Our Spectacular Bodies on audio and I really enjoyed the weird forms that way - Scribd has it, maybe that is a tip for you and your qualms with Maps. Always really enjoy your videos!

    I also have that weird feeling that if I don't talk about every book that I've read, it feels incomplete. Why are our brains like this?? It has been very nice not marking things as read on Goodreads before I record a video on them because I didn't want to talk to other people about them yet 😅
    Also, I definitely noticed the new glasses before you mentioned it and thought 'oo those are cute. i should get new glasses'

      Hahaha if I wasn't a bully about books I would be a bully about glasses 🤓

    Loving the energy in this video and I'm looking forward to your full thoughts on Spectacular Bodies! My feelings towards it went back and forth the whole time I read it

      I ended up loving it, but I also was like, ahhh I see why this is a Booker book. Also you know me and my borderline unhealthy obsession with books about children of pastors! ✌️

    Agree that my videos are/were best for background viewing. I know some people put youtube videos up on their TV screens and the thought of my face being that big and scrutinizable is kind of horrifying lol
    Sorry I'm getting to this so late, especially since this is a thing we talked about in DMs :)

    I absolutely understand not wanting to discuss every book you read with “internet” lol. I decided to stop doing standard wrap ups and TBRs back in April because it just started feeling like a grind instead of fun to make videos 😊

    • @N_Garamond
      @N_Garamond ปีที่แล้ว +1

      not a booktuber but just wanna chime in to support this and encourage booktubers to take books "for themselves" and just not tell anyone about it. if they want! sometimes you REALLY want to discuss stuff, sometimes you just want to keep it for yourself

      @TheBookBully  ปีที่แล้ว

      Amen!! I constantly struggle between the balance of wanting to share and connect online and also disappear off the internet forever. I don't know if it's possible to find a balance? Good luck to us all

    Yay! Good to see you! Hope you had a lovely birthday. While moving is stressful, it's also nice as a little life reset (excited to see your bookshelves!). I hope it goes smoothly. Re: monthly wrap ups, I hear you about them feeling like you are closing a loop, but I think you should make whatever content makes you happy, and we'll be here for it. Annabel is a great book, I'm sure you'll speed through it. I'm reading The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese and I'm really enjoying it.

    I do sometimes watch booktube whilst I wash up but you got the honour of me paying full attention 😅 I hope the move goes OK! Is Benny OK with new spaces? Albus and Luna were terrified when we moved, bless them. It was quite funny in hindsight cos they stayed in our bedroom but we left the door open so they could creep out when brave enough. Every day Albus would get a couple of steps further down the stairs before running back to the bedroom. He finally got all the way downstairs and then the heating turned on and the boiler noise terrified him. It was like the basement scene in home alone 😂 it took him days to build the courage back up and he kept one eye on the boiler for ages 😂
    I completely agree with all your booktube thoughts. I've very recently decided to bin off monthly wrap ups. I've realised I enjoy watching videos that are pretty organic so why not let myself film stuff like that. Whatever sort of structure/lack of you go for I'll always be here to hear your bookish thoughts!

    • @TheBookBully
      @TheBookBully  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am blessed and highly favoured!
      Oh poor Albus hahaha! Im sure you feel the same but I always feel so bad when I have to disrupt Benny significantly and he has no idea what's going on. Benny is definitely a curious and anxious cat but his method of dealing with the unknown is to explore relentlessly. When I flew home with him to my parents house I couldn't find him for the first 12 hours and finally I discovered him exploring the pantry off the kitchen. But then he hid under the bed for a whole day 😬. I have been trying to decide the best way to introduce him to the new space, especially because he also hates the car. Any tips??

    • @MercysBookishMusings
      @MercysBookishMusings ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBookBully Hmm, well ours just hid completely so it said online to only release them in one room with places to hide and things that smell of them. We hadn't managed to put our bedframe up yet cos they'd have just hidden under the bed. Instead they kept trying to almost burrow into the floor? Maybe if Benny prefers exploring he wouldn't want to only be released to the one room though? I guess you could leave the door open a crack so he has the option of exploring but also feels like he's in a small space.

    Glad to see you back. I watch videos before the world awakes while drinking my coffee. Just back from across the pond. Concerned about the fires your way and the smoke on Cape Cod where I spend springs. Got Claire Fuller's latest while in London--it was released there before in the U.S. but have not gotten to reading it. Am currently reading The Sirens of Mars by Sarah Stewart Johnson. I think this is a book you might like--all about Mars, voyages, mapping, and finding life. Just so well written, non-fiction and short but packed with great info. Makes you look at the stars. Good luck with the move

      @TheBookBully  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooh I am intrigued! I will look into it. Thanks for the recommendation!
      The smoke from the fires was pretty bad here for a few days. Pretty insane that everywhere you went you could like, taste the campfire in the air. It's a lot better now, and hopefully the fires are getting under control.

    You could always do 1Q84 for translated book and then use Anna Karenina for the classic prompt? I decided to join in for TBR spin but I want to catch up on the first 5 prompts too. 2/5 down and it's been so much fun getting to books that have been languishing on my shelf for far too long. Happy to see you back in my sub box! 🎉

    It feels monotonous to talk about the "meh" books, I always found talking about the highs or lows easier and obviously, more fun. There are booktubers who only talk about the big feeling books and that might be what helps, but also (for me) I'd probably feel pressure to have big feelings books lol
    I was not folding laundry but I am cross stitching a cat while I spend some time with you
    Good luck with the move, a new space and getting to make it your own is an undertaking but the end result, of feeling settled is worth it

      Great question - I honestly don't know. It was the only audiobook available at my library. It wasnt the highest quality record but it matched up with the Oxford Shakespeare edition.
