Zius BK-1 AEB Blaster. Trash or not?

  • Here's my take on the BK-1 AEB Blaster. TL;DW? It's not a good blaster, but it might be something worth checking out as long as you know exactly what you are paying for!
    CORRECTION: The Zius- BK1 gearbox has metal gears out of the box instead of nylon, however, the pinion gear on the motor itself is made of nylon.

    Okay out of the box it is not the best blaster, but the bk-1 is an amazing entry into the AEG space. So many reviewers are only talking about the out of box experience, which to be honest was for me pretty good since I was new to the AEG space and could not afford to get the qwk or the MK3 Challenger. Best of all this Blaster is so easy to modify and does not take a lot to do, just changing the barrel type to a 13 mm aluminum Barrel without doing anything else significantly helped its performance and it's feeding issue, if you chamfer the ends you reduce the feeding issue even more. On top of that just changing out the fuse to a 10 amp or higher will allow you to upgrade the battery and the spring. So what I found that works Within the bk-1 is that the spring is very similar in size to that of the Nexus Pro/ Striker so I was able to take the stock spring from either of the blasters mentioned cut it down to two coils longer than the stock spring in the BK-1, change out the fuse to a 40 amp, changing out the barrel material to 13 mm aluminum Barrel and with that done I'm now hitting in the 170s for FPS with a lot more reliable feeding and amazing accuracy with no scar barrels

      I'm really glad that your BK-1 is working well for you sir! As I have mentioned many times throughout the video, this is my personal opinion and my take on this blaster, I merely shared and pointed out my experience of this BK-1 blaster.
      You are free to share yours as well, sir ;) I would love to watch it!

    its actually not bad - really perfect for low FPS events - most of my indoor events has 180fps cap - my BK1 hits around 100+

    One mistake, out of the box gears are metal and not nylon.

      Thank you so much for the correction! I wasn't aware of that!
      EDIT: The pinion gear on the motor itself however is made of nylon, weird combination.

    I thought many times before attempting to get my hands on this BK-1.. as well as Challenger MK3 (due to its price lol). Most importantly I'm just extremely PROUD with my Colonel Wasp x MM 76 anyway.
    I did encounter issues from my 76 such as pusher rod getting split from cylinder (fixed by adding tape to fit the pusher rod to the cylinder by friction), as well as plunger rod not being released by catch plate when shooting (as a result no air blowing and launching the darts) due to upper and lower receivers not assembled tightly (I secured by putting front and back pins, but didn't put the middle pin 😅). Lower receiver has that kind of long see-saw like lever that pushes the catch plate upward when the lever is being pushed by cylinder during cycle while shooting.
    After fixing all those issues, my 76 functions again like new and it's still going strong till now. So far no darts jam throughout shooting my 76 (I use Worker Gen 2 HE red darts).
    IMHO the 76 should be an example of Nerf AEB technology as a whole, due to its reliability while having excellent performance.

      @@monkeemods8393 Absolutely agree. Also really wish in future the 76 comes with more durable shell (nylon perhaps). But the current transparent shell looks cool too anyway. =)

    I'm also buy One ,just don't upgrade spring, only replace barrel & do lubricant, that enough get 150+ fps, for mid performance like dartzone blaster it fit well.

    is there any good blasters at this price point?

    • @ice2112
      @ice2112 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah just depends where in the world you are and if you are OK with 3d printed blasters. All of the Adventure Force/ Dart Zone max blasters come in under this price point (in the USA) and all are great blasters hitting 150+ fps, there are some 3d printed blasters that may be in this price rand or just a trade more like the Tallon Claw for an example

    nah the propriety dart length design is terrible...that just kills the whole thing for anyone who wants better performance with darts that are better than worker. also worker dart production is terrible on its own, so relying on that for a good time is a problem as well, Ive seen a majority of worker darts not even having properly seated dart heads.

    • @ice2112
      @ice2112 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dart length is not a problem, I own the BK-1 just like this video and the jam occurs with any dart. So this video is false about dart length. Swapping the barrel material helped even more to use any dart you want

    • @expiredgamer_ugh
      @expiredgamer_ugh ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ice2112 barrel material had nothing to do with that....it's manufacting of the barrel that matters, and if it's processed correctly at the chamber and yes the length does matter......the blaster literally runs properly with a mag full of pre measured darts.....sorry but if you have to change the blaster in any way to make it work properly after you purchased it, makes it a dogshit blaster.........that's like buying a new car and having to swap the engine out so the car actually moves after you paid for it

    considering this blaster looks like a gun and is produced in china, china might ban it soon (just like gelblasters)
    and honestly i dont like gun look-a-like blasters in the nerf hobby......
    and the blaster just sucks, the AEB technology is to young (and unreliable!) to be mass produced
    nice review though :)

    • @jayjay53313
      @jayjay53313 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FYI, China doesn't ban guns that look realistic compared to other Asian and European countries do. Under firearms law in these continents countries, a gun is not considered replica if they have screws attaching 2 main pieces and the police could easily identify it's fake. The blaster in video is obviously a toy at first glance.
      Real gun comprised of moulded parts held together via sliding groove & a pin locking the upper & lower receivers. Also soft dart blasters come with big diameter darts as if you're gonna shoot some xenomorph. Only realistic replica guns with 90-100% resemblance to the real thing being placed under tight control especially gel blasters & Airsoft gun that are mostly replica.
      Asians love soft dart blasters that are legally look closest to the actual guns such as Lehui QBZ95 or look sci-fi like QWK edge.
      AEB isn't practical because they rely entirely on motor to shoot & tend to overheat and burnout. There are blasters that have practical failsafe where you can still manually cock the gun and shoot if battery or motor out. The practical blasters relying on motor just to cock the gun, providing semi-auto or full-auto while the firing mechanism is entirely spring works. The future of AEB would be these practical blasters.

      AEG has been around for a long time, for Nerf you had the Vulcan and the Stampede. AEG are just re surging now, so many Nerf Blasters have gun aesthetic looks as well, so your comment about it being gun like is invalid.
