    People don't understand how good Bo Jackson was because they only look at the stat sheets of his career production. If you understood that this man was playing Baseball at an All Star level & Football at the same time while splitting carries with Hall of Famer Marcus Allen. Do you understand how hard it is to train for 2 different sports & DOMINATE at both? Don't you ever find it funny that the only people who think Bo Jackson is overrated are people who either never seen him play or never played against him?
    This man dislocated his hip & WALKED OFF THE FIELD... Homie was DIFFERENT.

      Agent 0: re "he wasn't that good" Oh, yeah, that makes sense. In game planning in the film room, the linebackers would say, "what are we going to do about Bo Jackson? He has breakaway strength on one on one tackling - could cost us the game on one single carry. And we don't have a single player on the team that can catch up to his speed if he hits open field." But the coaches would say, _"Yeah, but he's not that good!_ Relax, guys. We can actually lighten up on his side of the field, and put everyone's assignment onto other players. _Because he's not that good!"_

      Something else people forget or weren’t around to watch was how captivating Bo was. I remember being in bars with Royals games on in the background and everyone stopping to watch when he was at bat.
      Everyone knew back then Bo could do something ridiculous at any moment, like run up walls to save home runs, so people stopped what they were doing to watch him.
      To this day every time I see his highlights I think what might have been...
      BTW, on play versus Bengals when he dislocated his hip, Bo has said it was his own strength that caused the injury. The defender was holding onto Bo’s leg. Bo tried to pull his leg out of the defender’s grasp so violently he pulled it out of his hip joint.

      @War Productions I just said men will walk through broken glass for a true leader. And not for a crybaby who no one wanted to draft because of his whininess and baby attitude. Does that clear things up? :)
      If your life depended on it, and you were in a foxhole in war, and you had a choice for commanding your path to safety between Johnny Unitas, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana, and that crybaby, who on that list would you cringe at, because he has no leadership, but is just the boss so you put up with until you can escape his grotesqueness?
      I thought so.

    • @Bill_Woo
      @Bill_Woo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mafiaalert4209 His lack of leadership was why everyone passed over him in the draft to begin with. I see no evidence that he ever changed. His baby attitude for being caught cheating - even destroying evidence, right? - even AFTER winning rings shows that as well as anything. And this echoes the assessment of those I've spoken to and who get their facts directly, and not from sports articles or broadcasts - or the water cooler.
      It's only "hating" in that I hate whiny crybabies - no apologies for that. Sports reporters will tell you he's Barry Bonds territory pissy and aloof as well. It's verboten to print or broadcast that attitude towards him, but believe me, it exists. I'm not the only one that thinks of him as a pee-rickkk.

      @maniacmasturbator2411 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      He would had to have played football solely from the start.
      He was already 28 years old when he injured his hip and only played the equivalent of 2 and a half seasons, since he was splitting time with MLB. But it ended up being more fun to watch since we got to see him make all those crazy highlight reels in 2 sports.

      Ace Degenerate the original comment says he would have been one of the best in rushing yards and TDs if he stayed healthy. He wouldn’t have, because he was already 28 and only playing 9-10 games a season.

      @@davidbranin969 Meh. He was not on any sort of HOF trajectory in baseball. When he got hurt, he had 500 games and almost 2000 at bats under his belt, and was 28 years old. He had less than 100 HR's, hit around .225-.235, never walked, and struck out a ton. Plus, he was a negative defender, despite all that speed and throwing arm.

    • @The.ARCHIT3CT
      @The.ARCHIT3CT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a lot of people don't realize is that his sheer power is actually what got him hurt, ironically. A normal running back would've probably just fell, but Bo tried to rip his own leg out the grasp of the defender, and did so with such force, that it dislocated his hip. Unreal.

His speed was dangerous for him and his defender - like two cars colliding at 60 miles per hour, but he never seemed to hesitate. Forget his athletiscim, he was a true football player. There's still been no one quite like him. 230-235 pounds and running with 4.3 speed. And he PLAYED 230 pounds...there wasn't much finesse to his game. That touchdown vs Denver where he decleated Mike Harden in 1987 is still an all time "WTF DID I JUST SEE!?!" sports moment for me. He obliterated a good safety and in three steps was at top speed running down the sidelines. He was an absolute wonder to behold. Closest I've seen to a real life superhero.

You have to be a special kind of freak of nature to consider playing a sport like football at the highest level a mere hobby. I went to Auburn 1982-85. I saw all of his home games, three Iron Bowls and a few away games. I also watched him play baseball. I got to speak to him a couple of times and he’s a very humble and good person also. He and Walter Payton are my two favorites of all time.

      Jordan wouldnt be as much talked about if Bo hadn't got injured. Bo was the #1 athlete in the country during the late 80's.
      Given that Bo was just hitting his prime in 1990, it's safe to say that the dominance would've continued at least till 1996.

    I was a little kid when I watched Bo Jackson do amazing things on the football field. I'm from New England. Friends and I would talk about how badass it would be to have Bo here in a Patriots uniform, but he wore the black n silver with pride doing great things with a great team. I'll say this, Bo knows a lot of things; Bo definitely knows inspiration!

      @decapitatespammers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ericsigersmith2831 Mmmm, Herschel was stronger, as strong as a lineman, VERY difficult to tackle, and faster, with Olympic speed. Bo might have had better moves, as Herschel just aimed to go through people. Generally skills and leadership - MAYbe.
      One thing very likely is that Herschel drew more attention. Outside of the overlap with Dorsett at the end of TD's career, he might have been more game planned than anyone. On that matter, remember that he caught more than a couple of passes also.
