I am a second year undergraduate, international studies major. I do not have relevant experience in investment banking yet. I am planning to learn more in depth of the industry by taking a certification. Specifically I’m considering taking either CFA level 1 or Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst from CFI from next month to bolster my competency for landing an internship. Which one would you recommend? And are there any better alternatives?
Perhaps you can consider our program too: 365financialanalyst.com/start-learning/ It is much more affordable than CFI's and you will pick up the necessary skills plus get a chance to practice on real-life projects.
Thank you for the video. I see that you offer great courses. I have been a health care practioner for 15yrs. I don't find fulfillment in it, i dont enjoy it. I have developed so much interest in Investment banking. Can i transition to Investment banking by doing courses? Do i need a degree or some sort of certification? I need to know, so that i can enrol as soon as possible. . Thank you
Hi Yasar, the CFA is certainly an important designation which is considered as the gold standard by many people in the industry. However, the CFA requires a huge commitment and the CFA covers many topics which you don't actually need to work in equity markets.
Investment banking is like necromancy, everyone looks like they’ve been dead for 10 years, there’s a pot of strange black ooze that everyone gathers around to sustain themselves, and it’s all overlooked by a mysterious group who not many ever actually see.
I have a software engineering associate degree and want to be a financial analyst someday. I just want to know bachelor's degree is a must or if I can take other courses to become a financial analyst?
Hi Alireza, you can become a financial analyst without a degree. Probably it'll be easier to make a transition inside a company where you already work, but it can be done and has been done.
@@365FinancialAnalyst Thank you for your response. Can you please give some suggestions on how to start and what courses should I take to be a financial analyst?
Yes, it does. Quant skills are highly sought for. Especially if you want to work in the Trading and Brokerage or Asset Management divisions of investment banks. But many people who have been hired in M&A have studied Statistics too.
Is it possible to become an investment banker graduating from Eastern Carolina University, or would your degree have to come from a top/Ivy League school?
It can be done. Here's an excellent article sharing such a story: medium.com/@matt.hansen1993/how-i-broke-into-investment-banking-with-a-sub-par-gpa-non-target-school-c63eddd07f7c
