Thank you for the tips! I'm new to doing gel polish at home. This video has definitely been helpful! I just thought I'd share with you that I used a wooden cuticle stick to push off the polish this time. It seemed to be a bit more gentle than the metal this time. 😊
I'm new to gel nail polish. I tried the nail clips and found them to be a hassle. I'll try the nail foils or tin foil. The metal cuticle pusher seemed to harsh so i bought some wooden sticks to try. Thanks for the video 🎉
You make it look so easy I get impatient and don’t wait long enough but I get it off just had to keep goi g back and soaking will be doing your method though after seeing this.
Thanks! I have been doing it for so many years that I have it down to a science now. I used to be very impatient and convinced it wouldn’t come off but from experience its just because I wasn’t giving it enough time! Good luck :)
@@CreateYourSpace_. Thank you. Did you know they have these soak off bowl I found out about them on tik tok they have holes for your fingers you put the acetone in and the cotton just a suggestion
Yes I haven’t seen those but I don’t like submerging my skin in acetone for very long, it dries the skin quite a bit so I prefer cotton balls. I have recently ordered some gel nail remover that you paint on like polish and it crumbles your gel nails with out the use of cotton pads! I’ll upload a video on it when it gets delivered!
@@CreateYourSpace_. Yeah that is the only part I hate about acetone. I also saw these foils that had the cotton already on them and you put the acetone one and wrapped them never done foil
You make the process look so doable, thanks! Also wanted to suggest to do different colours and upload every time you do your nails. Wishing you many more subscribers
Oh wow, this is what I have to look forward to? I got gel polish for a vacation to Oahu, on my nails and toe nails. First time and maybe last time I will have this done. I like how they don’t chip like standard polish, but I don’t like the concept of having to go through all these steps to remove it. Thank you for this tutorial! Js
@@CreateYourSpace_. Ikr?! Thank you for your reply, it is much appreciated. Oh I have a question; can I just use a standard nail polish to fill in the nail growth part, then just polish over the rest of the nails, then use Sally Hanson’s Insta-Dry over it until I’m ready to remove the gel? Haven’t seen any vids on this anywhere! Jc
You can layer regular nail polish over gel if you want once they grow out a bit, then use a regular polish top coat as well. But if you want to layer gel back on top of regular polish you have to wait at least 4-6 hours till that regular polish is fully dry. I have a video called gelly sandwich nails if you’re interested in that.
I have so many questions. First off, will Vaseline around your cuticles protect them from the harshness of the acetone while they soak? Secondly, would filing the gel polish off more deeply help the soaking/penetration process go faster? Are you removing this gel polish from your natural nail? I'm trying to find ways to grow my natural nails without expensive trips to the salon. The gel stick-on nails that you cure and cut to your length do an amazing job of protecting my nails and gave them a really good start. I'm only just coming to getting a free edge. So theyre still really short by industry standards, but a good short nail is better than a bad long nail, in my opinion.
I have never tried Vaseline around the cuticle but I general rehydrate at the end with oil and have never had a problem. Yes, the more you file off the less polish acetone needs to break down so the overall process will go faster and yes I am removing it from my natural nail which is why I don’t like using a drill to file off my polish (to avoid damage). I have a video on my page about growing out natural nail using IBD gel, that will probably help :)
I mention in the video if the polish is not lifting to put the acetone back on and wait to make sure you don’t damage your nail beds. Sorry if you missed the captions or the audio included in this tutorial.
If you have hard gel under your gel polish unfortunately the acetone will remove your gel polish and probably some of the hard gel depending how long you leave it on for. If you want to change the colour I recommend just painting over the existing colour instead
Gel polish and shellac are actually the same thing, shellac is just a brand. The acetone I have in a in a pump bottle you can buy these at the dollar store or sometimes the acetone already comes in a container like this :)
Usually about 5-8 minutes, depends on the polish and how well it’s still adhered to your nails. You can check them and if they don’t look like they are crumbling then just leave it on a little longer
Thank you! I have honestly used so many brands at this point but off hand I would say CND and gelish are slightly better. I have also been liking some Amazon brands like melody susie and meet across.
I use onyx professional 100% pure acetone. I have also used the 100% pure acetone by quo from shoppers drug mart (only available in Canada). Any brand will do but you have to make sure it’s 100% pure acetone. Not nail polish remover with acetone (that’s not enough acetone)
That pump is what the acetone came with but I also use this pump for my regular nail polish which is great, you can fill your acetone in here - bit.ly/3WSvs5g
Amazing!!! I’m so glad you tried it! I would love to see how they turned out! If you post them on social media tag me :) @twoafterido on all platforms ❤️
Usually salons will use a drill because it’s faster, they don’t need to wait 5-10 mins for the acetone to soak. I don’t like drills because they damage my natural nails. It’s not necessarily incorrect just more harmful in my opinion. You can ask your salon to use acetone next time (not magic remover, that is also very damaging, but specially acetone)
I think it's not crumbly enough... to wait 15 min. is the much better option. To wrap the nails with foil over the cotton balls is good too. The clips only will dry out the aceton too fast. Greetings from Germany
Where did you get the marble piece you are working on ? I imagine a home store would have it but wanted to check with you 😊 I just got a gel kit and want to protect my tables 🤣
I purchased the marble piece from an Indian cooking store (I think it’s meant to make roti on) but I found something similar here on Amazon for you bit.ly/3Hk14HY (this is quite pricey so a good alternative could be these bit.ly/3sCjY8T

Yes unfortunately with the durability comes a slightly longer process of removal but worth it for some :)
It is more of a hassle but my nails are much better now. No more splitting, breaking, or bending backwards.

With the gel polish, or after removal?

Five minutes wasn't enough for my nails. Serious damage to my nail bed. Now I have to redo my nails.

You shouldn’t have to :) I have a video on how I remove my gel with no drill and no damage
I got gel nails instead of acrylic with gel polish if I try to remove the polish will it also remove the whole gel nail ? Hope I’m making sense thanks

Can I use nail polish remover to revive the mail and glue?
No unfortunately you will need 100% acetone, regular nail polish does not have enough acetone in it to remove gel polish.
Ok
Does this also work for shellac nails? Also, what kind of container do you have the acetone in?
Gel polish and shellac are actually the same thing, shellac is just a brand. The acetone I have in a in a pump bottle you can buy these at the dollar store or sometimes the acetone already comes in a container like this :)

My salon uses a drill to remove the gel. Is this an incorrect method? My nails are always left brittle and start to break each time I get shellac.

Can i use nail polish remover that isnt 100% acetone??
No unfortunately regular nail polish is not strong enough to break down gel polish.
@@CreateYourSpace_. thank you so much for replying. I went and bought some gel polish remover on amazon.

No. Won’t work
so the acetone doesn't melt this plastic? wow
Most of the acetone is on the cotton ball so it doesn’t damage the plastic :)
5 minutes? What gel polish gets crumbly that fast?
This particular brand is from Amazon called meet across. Hope this helps :)
I think it's not crumbly enough... to wait 15 min. is the much better option. To wrap the nails with foil over the cotton balls is good too. The clips only will dry out the aceton too fast. Greetings from Germany
Yes foil can be a good alternative as well!
@@tomandme3698
What is the purpose of using foil and how does it work, by heat??
It just speeds up the process to help the acetone work faster due to heat :)
