I have heard this song many times and I get Goosebumps every time I couldn't watch it for a long time after the 1st time because it upset me so much as a woman who has been through it

What an amazing singer, performer, etc. She gave me chills dozens of times during this performance. Hard to understand all those people just sitting there quietly while she pours all that emotion-drenched lyrics out to them. This young woman was WAILING in pain! And I have to believe most people who are sympathetic or empathetic at all would maybe shed a few tears.

Because, they were there!Imagine this in person... you can't "pause" and regroup. There's no rewind. She has command of their attention. They don't want to miss a single moment. They were spellbound.
On top of that, they were told at the beginning of the show that this was a personal moment for her and was being recorded. So their silence was a mark of respect. We all hate live recordings where you hear the audience more than the artist.

She's from West Memphis, Arkansas (on the Mississipi border). She was raised in the church. Please listen to her song "Evergreen" which she wrote after her mother committed suicide. The first time she could bring herself to go back to a church was when she recorded Evergreen. She's amazing because she touches anybody who's listening to her.
