Yebba has HEAVY gospel, folk influence in her sound. I believe you reacted to Tamela Mann. Thats one of her influences along with The Clark Sisters, Kim Burrell. The vocal fry you were referring to is mainly called a “squall” in the black gospel community. She uses the rasp and squall techniques pretty modestly in this performance but its not uncommon in southern gospel artists.
Unreal, thank you for these 🙏🙏 I will remember the correct phrases! Nothing but appreciation for Yebba, as I’m typing this I’m listening to the studio version and I’m shocked at how similar they are. That’s a real skill
@@Beldvlmnt you are most certainly welcome. Here is a good reference video for you. Not a reaction recommendation (even tho i think you’d lose your sh*t) th-cam.com/video/kMPjxxFSGI8/w-d-xo.html
YAY the Yebba reacts are back! for a fun contrast, compare the vibes on this one to the live released video for Boomerang. She ain't crying so much anymore. 👀😹
I am living this song!!! I can’t tell you how much it hurts me to listen to this but I have to because it’s one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard!! I wish I could thank her!!! She is just incredible!!!! I simply love her!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Also - running UP the scale…. Rarely happens outside of gospel. Running down happens all day but running up?! That’s how I knew she was raised in church
Always love me Yebba this song I always tear up because I can relate. The song hits the inner travailing of the soul heart and mental anguish of loss instead of screaming she sings it and expresses it.........Beautifully Heartfelt
I think the mic is a Beta 58A One of the most commonly supplied mics for live performances. I also like the MY-Y-Y-Y run and how she movies her voice with a little more breath support each time until it flips. I recommend Boomerang (Live,) next.
glad you’re back with another yebba react! it’s cool to see how invested you are and all the elements you appreciate that said, it breaks up the flow a lot to pause so often midsong - even if it lets you appreciate technical elements, i feel like it dulls down the energetic/emotional impact of the music going on most of the next yebba suggestions are going to center around her mom killing herself and it would maybe be reverent to try letting a single verse go by and sink in
Yay! Yebba is amazing, love reactions of her songs, and also yay that you and Nick are buds, love his channel too :) I'm sure Nick will also suggest Matt Corby, think you'd really like his songs, great vocalist, and some of his live performances with his band are pretty rad. Trick of the light is a bit of fun. Similar to My Mind in a 'raw live performance' kinda way, start with "Matt Corby - 'Brother' (live for Like A Version)"
you pause WAY too much instead of feeling it chopped up...pausing... you need to just experience her instead of commentating every other few seconds...
The REAL talent, beyond having a beautiful voice, is being able to feel and emote the lyrics. ❤
No you’re right - she is not riffing, she’s just living in it- Yebba can cry on key!
It’s so enviable it’s devastating

You can’t threaten me with a good time like that 😂
OMG!!! You're so right.. I can hear Kim Burrell all up and through Yebba
I’m so glad you’re reacting to her!!! Yebba is EVERYTHING!!! You just need to hear the album!!
I can only imagine! What a talent. It’s hard to hear she’s had so many painful experiences but I’m glad she’s found an outlet 💛
Thanks from Italy, Yebba is incredible artist.
And she's definitely a church baby. Like Jazmine Sullivan. Runs run faster than most singers😩
Yebba is one of the BEST!!! check out her NPR concert!
It made my guts wrench ❤😮
Yebba - Evergreen.
Loved this reaction. Now we gonna need the live version of Boomerang!

Love her
Ps the “e” is a soft vowel like “yellow”
The story is that Ed Sheeran was at this performance. He said that it made him cry, and then he signed her ❤️
OMG YESSSSS
Boomerang live by yebba its a short song but she gives you so many gems it's crazy.

Love your reactions! Especially how you break down the different microphones and instruments. Please react to Yebba and Clark Beckham gravity
Loved your reaction man! Also it's pronounced yeah-buh

YEBBA IS Abbey backward. She used to call herself Yebba as a child
Her heart is broken you can her the pain. Singing therapy
It's called lament (verb or noun), I've never heard a song that had that outside of a book
I love this reactions to Yebba. You definitely need to listen to her songs Evergreen and Boomerang live, you won't be disappointed
In 2018 I refused to watch any video on YT but this one. I was obsessed with it and it’s refreshing to go back to your previous obsessions
Love your reactions and the breakdowns you give I think you would like reacting to a band called Lawrence don't lose sight acoustic
Please react to faouzia tears of gold stripped!
She has such a unique voice.
🙌🏾🙌🏾
You need to listen her live version of evergreen 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Please react to Silk Sonic's performance of 'Love's Train' on the Billboard Awards.

Stopping mid-riff just lost you a subscriber.
