The fact that this performance doesn’t have a Grammy is criminal! You guys have GOT to react the her duet with Clark Beckham singing Gravity. That’s another Grammy worthy performance
This was her first gig as featured solo artist. She was signed immediately following this performance. She has retired performing this song due to her mother's tragic demise. She's offering free download of this song. All proceeds from first album got to Mental Health Awareness. But, I agree, this is Grammy worthy!
I agree the Beckham performance shows her gospel history. Yebba is her name backwards (Abbey) Abbey, a preachers daughter of a large church in Memphis, Arkansas
I'm an older white dude, and I've watched probably 60 different reactions to Yebba singing this. I'm a classic rocker, but I'm obsessed with her skill.
Cried like a baby the first time I heard this song. And I'm crying again you can feel her real pain I think this really happened to her right before she sang this.
Yebba, Abbey Smith, hails from West Memphis, Arkansas. Daughter of a preacher, grew up singing in black church. Her inspiration The Clark Sisters. This was her first solo performance. She was signed immediately. She has since won a Grammy for her collaboration with PJ Morton.
I love to watch people discover Yebba. She's amazing. She's got a Grammy now too. I love her song Evergreen & also Smoke with Luke Levinson, both are on TH-cam. Try those as well as Gravity if you want to react to more of her stuff.
"I love this performance by Yebba. This is actually one of her first performance weeks from her mother taking her own life. You can see the raw emotion and pain in her voice. She’s said recently that she actually doesn’t want to sing this song again because she felt like she did this song tribute to her mother here in this video. Incredible." - someone from youtube lol I love her such a huge fan of Yebba!!
my first time hearing yebba was yesterday, I dont know WHERE I've been to have missed her, but her voice had me crying my eyes out. She is UNIQUE in that she has a beautiful voice that MOVES the soul. Not sure if you ever heard of Phoebe Snow who had songs out in the 70's but Yebba reminded me of her
And that, is singing with your entire body. She displays so much passion and anguish as she tells the story. She must be exhausted after performing this song. Just jaw-dropping.
Her voice just effortlessly floats and runs all along that music. First time I ever saw this all I could think is that I was witnessing greatness. One of the most beautiful and heart wrenching songs I have ever heard in my life. To me this is what a soul crying out sounds like. It is beautifully painful to listen to and I have been there so I feel every note of this.
God bless her soul she singing from a place beyond the depths of her Soul, the pain, the hurt, darkness and loneliness wow just amazing,I see Adele and Kelly Clarkson as somebody could man gets a message to them I'd love to see a deep song like this very gripping very touching with her Adele even Kelly Clarkson thanks for sharing keep up the good work and try to get those channels through, got to get message to these guys to to do a duet, it would blow the world away like atomic bomb just leave your weak in the knees and breathless this is very powerful this is like heaven opening up to give you the True Grit and Power Of Heartache I love it thanks for sharing keep up the good work
i have watched this fifty times and tried to think of another live performance where someone does something like this...who does this live in a vocal performance? nobody that I've ever seen...she's poured it out and what vocal dynamic ability....just WOW...amazing
Every time I watch this video I get more and more amazed at the power in her voice! I don’t understand how that audience wasn’t on their feet cheering for her by the end, they had just witnessed greatness and didn’t even seem to care!!!
Her song was being officially recorded so the audience would have been told to refrain from making noises like jumping around & cheering also @ the end she says, "that's that one" cos she letting the recording people know she's come to the end of her song & they can stop recording.
She stands alone. She’s an amazing person. I have been listening to her song since I first heard it and yes I am praying that she does a Gospel song and I believe it will have a lot of people going to church and changing their ways. Her very to me wants to go to church and I’m telling you that I have been hurt not by just one person but I listen to her cause I be DAMN if I take the things that I have been through anymore. Her song does that for me. She’s Blessed with an American voice.
Definilty check out her duet with Clark Beckham, and her song Evergreen! I think you guys would also really love Shoshana Bean singing Make It Rain, or her duet with Avery Wilson
Great reaction guys! I discovered Yebba this last spring and I am convinced that she is a rare gift come along once in a generation. I agree with you when you bring up Adele (although Adele does not have this kind of agility) and Jazmine Sullivan (who has at least this much agility), but I would add one more from my generation, and that is Joni Mitchell. To write a song like this (and you need to hear her Evergreen as well as her latest, October Sky), and then deliver it with so much passion, emotion and technical/vocal perfection...well, she is up there with the best!
When I listen to this song I think....Adele for the power, Lara Fabian for the breathy whistle & Aretha for the soul....chills, that's as close as I can come to describing her voice
Her latest song is called 'October Sky' and it's beautiful. 'Evergreen', 'Gravity' and 'How Deep Is Your Love' are ones to look for (as others have said). Also has colabs with Mark Ronson ('Don't Leave Me Lonely') and Sam Smith ('No Peace') that are really good. Great, real reactions...ya'll have a new subscriber!
Yebba actually lost her mother to suicide a week or so before this was written. Her mother suffered from depression and killed herself. Yebba was called Yebba by her mother as a fun take on her real first name which is Abbey. They were very, very close before her mother's death and Abbey put all of that emotional pain into the song My Mind, and you can see why. Yebba has an outstanding voice on a level with Adele, and Sia, and I hope she goes far in life and wish her the very best. Thanks for reviewing this outstanding song.
YEBBA IS A little Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries, a little Ann Wilson from Heart And lot of soul and a who bunch of Yebba. her song Evergreen, Pj Morton version of "How deep is your love "ft Yebba. She also covers John Mayer's"Gravity"
I would say I hear a mix of Adele and even Jasmine Sullivan especially when she sings the part when I work so hard to keep you satisfied ohhhooo (my attempt at doing that run via text) 😂 and did the run at the end of that line! I think her father is or was a pastor so she definitely grew up in the church and I can hear that too!
Man im sorry for being late to this!! I know its old but Abbey is such a beautiful soul and screw the man that out this pain into her but it gave us this amazing performance
I LOVE seeing people discover this song!! 😅 Also if y’all haven’t done it already PLEASEE look up James Vickerys COLORS performance of Until Morning!! Another soulful white 😆😆
Yebba had just lost her mother prior to this performance. Her real name is Abbey but spelled backwards is Yebba and I believe is a nickname her mother gave her as a child. Yebba was strongly influenced in gospel singing growing up in Arkansas and has several collaborations. One of my favorites in “gravity” with Clark Beckham. “Evergreen” is another amazing performance you should check out.
Anyone else start watching My Mind reactions like 2 years ago and still occasionally search up new ones, or is it just me? 😅
I just love this song. It’s at the top of my playlist right now. Love me some Yebba!!! 💯 ❤️
1000%
Nope. And it’s more often than occasionally.
Right. This popped in my reccomends but I love seeing people hear her for the first time.
MEEEEEEE
No matter how many times I hear this song, it breaks ny heart every time., that is real pain right there. Love it.
Chills even after the hundredth time.
Truly.
I cry every time
The fact that this performance doesn’t have a Grammy is criminal! You guys have GOT to react the her duet with Clark Beckham singing Gravity. That’s another Grammy worthy performance
@@blueeses I know she has a Grammy, I was speaking specifically about this performance
I agree. I get goosebumps at both! I wish she and Clark had recorded that.
Not to mention how stripped down this song is. Literally just a guitar and the rest is carried by her amazing voice!
I'm an older white dude, and I've watched probably 60 different reactions to Yebba singing this. I'm a classic rocker, but I'm obsessed with her skill.
Me too.Just discovered her 2 days ago. I am obssessed.
Why you gotta say you’re white? Who cares
You can literally hear the pain in her voice. Whoever he is, he should be so ashame
Clark Beckham and Yebba's cover of "Gravity" by John Mayer, if you enjoyed this you'll definitely enjoy that one!
Yes!!! Both of them can riff all day and have so much emotion in their voice. Great suggestion!
God yes. Please do this song!
Yes!! This Clark beckham and Abbey Smith (Yebba) is one of the best colabs EVER!
Omg yes. Please this so so so so good !!! Gravity
Amen!!
This voice is anointed. It's a gift from God
Cried like a baby the first time I heard this song. And I'm crying again you can feel her real pain I think this really happened to her right before she sang this.
Right?? And I have absolutely no reason to be crying at this except for her skill and emotion.
She sings her pain like no other! More Yebba please.
Evergreen is one of my favorites by her. She wrote it about her Mother’s ( who committed suicide)
I love to watch people discover Yebba. She's amazing. She's got a Grammy now too. I love her song Evergreen & also Smoke with Luke Levinson, both are on TH-cam. Try those as well as Gravity if you want to react to more of her stuff.
Same!!!! All of this!!
she grew up in a christian household, so she was singing all the time in church and in the choir, most amazing live performance for me, I love it
She just dropped a new single "October Sky" and it is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This woman hit my soul,I want her to perform on a bigger stage.she wrote this song 🎵
I watch a reaction to this at least once a week and I’ve been watching for years and I still cry. She is just amazing.

Clark Beckham and Yebba aka abbey “Gravity”
Both will take you to church lol
yes ya'll definitely need to do Gravity with Clark Beckham, then watch Clark Beckham do "I NEED"!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her portrayl of strength, weakness, pain, and perseverance.... Is an epic roller coaster full of beautiful sounding emotions
"I love this performance by Yebba. This is actually one of her first performance weeks from her mother taking her own life. You can see the raw emotion and pain in her voice. Anyone else fighting back tears.. 😢 this one hit the feelers. He raw emotion made us feel her pain.
Lucky Daye and Yebba have a song together that's really good.
Ive not known of another song that has broken my heart for her heartbreak...
Every time I watch that performance it feels like the first time every time.
She’s the best vocalist out there n my eyes! Great reaction guys 🙏❤️
Literally slapping my left thigh and breaking my heart all at the same time. That voice, that SOUL….
She has an amazing Tiny Desk Concert!!
Her voice just effortlessly floats and runs all along that music. First time I ever saw this all I could think is that I was witnessing greatness. Wow
That was a virtuoso performance. Stunning! She's like Adele and Nina Simone in one voice
This was her first time ever performing an original song Abbey Smith is Yebba

Sis’ face is my face, and I watched it 100 million times lorrrd
Beth Hart “Momma” comes to mind when I hear Yebba! She is amazing🔥🔥🔥
I see the Pink in her voice, too, she has a little of that rasp in it. She's got pipes!
Look up Yebba's Tiny Desk Concert - It's amazing - Much happier - She looks great
Just amazing what a singer very great and talented
Lordy what a voice, range and presence. Voice is a combo of Teena Marie, Joss Stone and Eva Cassidy. Truly gifted. Now this is real singing

Hahaha! I love how Asia just sat straight up after that "SATISFIIIIEEED" run there. I knew it was coming!! 🤣
I always enjoy your reactions. If your listening to Yebba, she has a video called "Evergreen" that is really excellent.
Pink is because of the raspy-ness. So great.

It happened after this. Not before.
@@Justyna_N I stand corrected. Wikipedia says it was a week after this song was performed. Thanks for the correction.
She writes all her own songs. Please try "Evergreen" which she wrote after her mother committed suicide.
I want to hear Yebba sing with Pink Floyd. I think it would blow my mind.
Yebba is TRUTH
I agree that's what I was going towards...Jazmine Sullivan.. I agree! you said it before I finish typing it.
