When I was 15 I went on a goodwill mission. "I will find a leopard print coat today". You cannot _imagine_ the joy and honest shock I felt when I found my coat...Vintage, handmade and with a matching pair of bellbottoms! for SIX DOLLARS! I am 36 and still have the coat. I fancied myself a bit of a seamstress in my teens and unfortunately destroyed the bell bottoms lol No article of clothing makes me feel more confident and glamorous than that coat.

In England TV serial call Coronation Street a barmaid bet Lynch she used to wear leopard prints the 70s. That used to be a trademark. In the 60s my sister used to have little leopard print booties they were gorgeous by the way I'm a female the wife

I think my late grandmother would have enjoyed watching this channel. She was not into couture, per se, but she herself was a talented seamstress with an appreciation for well-made clothing and style, and would have enjoyed Doris' knowledge, I believe. She told me once, in her 90s, that if she were still a young single girl, she would HAVE to have a faux leopard coat, as only the (expensive) real thing had been an option when she was young and single, so for what turned out to be her last Christmas, I gave her the gag gift of a faux fur leopard coat from eBay, which she absolutely loved!

The bag is to die for. Love your videos so much.
When I was 17 Norma Kamali or NK as we liked to call her, made a gorgeous ,simple jacket with rolled sleeves and 2 front pockets in leapard print. Everyone had it!!!
I wanted to own the real thing sooooo bad. But I didn't make that kind of money. Bullock's finally made a really good knock off. With my employee discount I bought 2. I wore both blazers till it feel apart. Wish I could find another one. A good leopard print is even more neutral than a black jacket.

It always amazes me the way leopard print its thought to be “tacky” . I think of leopard print in it is strikingly stunning, but in the right context ,if you know what I mean. It is a print that is timeless, & works well with everything from gowns, accessories , but the way it’s worn is so important. It’s best worn with confidence is what I have messily been trying to say. Thanks Doris, learning so much from the history of clothes , it’s definitely altered the way I look at clothes.

Hey Ms. Doris I am over the moon for you, and how you made a gallant effort to make Patrick Kelly your show off focus. Remember me the loan fashion illustration teacher at U.C in Cincinnati ? We had a really deeply spirited and civilized back and forth. about black design talent and how absent they are from the mainstream of fashion intellectual scope of importance. Well....thank you and I am mad proud of your actions...and I'd like to think that maybe I had a small part in the change : ) !!!!!

Quite interesting. Fascinating how different a print can be used and how different it can look. I saw much cheap looking animal print clothes in the 2000s and it was always kind of a no-go for me. This was quite refreshing to see such nice pieces and the origins of the trend.

leopard looks great on leopards. As a print on fabric, it is dull, colourless and boring. SO unimaginative!
I have a big plastic box of silk satins and silk chiffons in 1.6 to 2 metre lengths. The variety of prints and colours in that box is amazing. They are like works of art.
I recently saw silk satin with leopard style dots on a bright tomato red background. The red background was a big improvement.
