      Yall luxurious. This is a higher standard than my dorms and well.. it really is liveable. I didn't complain at all tbh. You study in the library, eat out, only come there to snack and sleep basically... It was kinda harder right before covid when everything closed down but we still had some in class lessons, but at the same time we were suddenly having online lessons at the same time in one room & studying there & cooking in a tiny kitchenette lol that was a nightmare, especially the online lessons in sync

    I’ve seen a lot of people say “how do they fit three people?? Why doesn’t Ucla have like two people only??” I did some research on their website and UCLA has different options (out of quarantine) for dorming. You can choose to be by yourself or with one or two other roommates and you can choose if you want to have a private bath or a public bath which everyone in the hall share. It all depends on the cost! Hope that helped! ;)

    • @Nowitzki4141
      @Nowitzki4141 4 ปีที่แล้ว +100

      well not really. ucla does have singles and doubles, but almost all freshmen (and sophomores too i believe) get triples. when you’re a junior or senior and if you want to live on campus then you get a choice, but you don’t really have a choice until then.

      going along with what Malin Sapkota said, barely anyone other than athletes and people with need for special accommodations are given singles! (unless it's during summer session or if you get extremely lucky!) but yeah totally correct on the cost! classic triples = the cheapest but most uncomfy, singles = the most expensive but you have your own space (though it does get lonely :c )!
      source: ucla transfer who dormed in a deluxe triple and then a single plaza over the summer !

      @julianacarragher7323 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@cozypianist1354 People need to stop with the “athletes get special accommodations” crap. It’s literally against NCAA rules and regulations and the athletes could lose eligibility of it if it was discovered they had special treatment in terms of housing. No big university is messing around with that.

    • @cozypianist1354
      @cozypianist1354 4 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      @@julianacarragher7323 athletes, regents scholars, student housing workers, and students with disabilities are given priority to choose their housing at UCLA (meaning they have an earlier time slot to choose their preferred dorm compared to the rest of the student body)... The student athletes at UCLA are also getting a study space built for them (the Mo Ostin Academic Center for Student-Athletes which is ONLY for student athletes), and already have a gym that no one else can access, so not necessarily "special accommodations", but more like... "perks" of being a student athlete.

    Hi about the earring infection: Do you wear costume jewellery? If so, try real jewellery (gold or silver) for a while. You might be allergic to the metal in costume jewellery, that can look like an infection. If you don't have real jewellery, try and invest in one (pair) or ask family.
    I can't wear costume jewellery earrings but necklaces and braclets, so maybe it's the same for you :)
    About your room. Nicely done. Just a question, since it's already pretty full, how could 2 more girls fit in there? Looks more like you need all the space for yourself XD

    • @ek3561
      @ek3561 4 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      by the way, if you have costume jewellery silver- or gold-plated it can still cause issues due to microscopic 'holes' in the plating. Go for full silver/gold/platin/...

    Hey Jasmine! For your ear piercing, the reason it keeps getting infected is because the hole is too close to either a nerve or a blood vessel. You should let them both heal over and then get them re-pierced at a different spot from a professional. It happened to me as well when I first got my nose pierced but letting it heal and then piercing at a different spot worked for me. Didn’t get infected ever again! Also for the healing, take some warm water with a pinch of salt and hold a cotton swab soaked in the solution to the infected place for a while and repeat twice a day. Hope it gets alright soon! You’re amazing, keep shining :)

Personally, the size didn’t bother me and it only made me get that much closer to my roomies! Plus, it’s not like we spent 24/7 in our dorm room; the campus is HUGE and we can go out to eat/study in various other places :) 10/10 recommend dorming if you want to meet and experience new people!

    If your pierced earlobes aren’t healed after a year (which they should be) and constantly getting infected, you need to make sure your studs are hypoallergenic and start cleaning them differently. Use a home made saline solution of distilled water and non-iodized (kosher) salt. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of salt to 8 ounces of water in a little bowl or mug and microwave it so that it’s warm (but not hot), and dip your ear in that twice a day for 3-5 minutes. You can scale up the amount of solution you make, 1/2 teaspoon to 16 oz of water or even 4 teaspoons to a gallon, but the ratio has to be correct, and you have to use distilled water.

    6:39 hi Jasmine
    My ear also used have problems like that after ear piercing
    So my advice is to check the material which is present in your piercing.....
    I used to have reaction with the silver earings but then I realised that wearing gold didn't cause any reaction....
    So it depends on skin to skin. And if any reaction happens u can put Vaseline to sooth it . if u want wear the silver ones which react put some Vaseline at the parts of the earnings which touch your ear.
    Hope this advice helps........

    I personally had to get my ears re-pierced 3 times for similar reasons to the issues you mentioned having. I learned from my piercer that tea tree oil is pretty good for a mild infection. What I do is fill a small container of water and put 2-3 drops of tea tree oil then use a cotton to put some on the area twice a day. Usually it helps swelling and discomfort go away quickly.

    Hey Jasmine! This comment is super late because I dropped off the face of the Earth for a while, but if you are still having trouble with ear infections with your piercings I have some advice because the same thing used to happen to me, and still does with certain pieces of jewelry.
    Tip #1 Be sure that you are not allergic (even acutely) to the metal the piercing is made of. I saw this comment a lot but knowing the metal content is important with "real" jewelry and not just costume jewelry. I am allergic to a lot of precious metals and can only wear surgical steel jewelry so finding this out and making the switch greatly decreased the severity of the infections I was getting.
    Tip #2 (this is the one I think will pertain to you much more) Be aware of the style of jewelry you are using. I am going to take a wild guess and assume that you are most likely wearing stud type earrings. These are super simple and pretty and are the ones you get when you first get the piercing done. However, I have found that stud piercings can fit too snuggly to the ear and not allow for much air flow. This is what was causing my constant small infections and just switching to small hoops or a stud that I could keep a little loose without fearing of them falling off and getting lost fixed the problem entirely. Air flow is important, your ears need to breathe too!

    regarding the ear infections i get them every time i put jewelry in, i have really sensitive ears. So some things that have helped me is putting vaseline on the earring, and if they’re being extra sensitive i’ll use a hot/warm salt water solution in a spray bottle on my ears.

    about the ear infection issue: try to wear titanium earrings if gold or silver ones are too expensive or if you would just feel afraid to lose them (or get them stolen idk i’m from brazil so that’s a common worry)! they’re a lot cheaper then actual jewelry but did WONDERS for my ears!!! i had them pierced for such a long time and could never understand why they never fully healed until i tried titanium earrings

    I feel ya on the ears. One solution I've found is not wearing earrings everyday, wearing looser/dangly earrings, and not wearing heavy stuff often. At most, I'll wear earrings 4 days in a row, then not wear any for 2 days.

    in regards to the piercing infection, you’re probably having reaction to nickel which is a decently common issue. give it a week without jewellery to clear up and make sure any jewellery you buy is nickel free. i'd recommend investing in a gold or silver pair of small hoops/sleeper to wear day to day (and in bed lol).

    If you can afford it, get Anatometal earstuds. The part that goes through the whole is stainless steel or titanium. Makes such a difference, I had trouble with a lobe piercing, and now it finally healed. Only downside is, you can't change it by yourself, since it gets screwed together, which requires either veeery fine motor skills, or a piercer with proper tools. So idk with piercing studios are open in your area, but if they are, find one who has Anatometal jewellery :D

    I was hearing you telling us about your ears... Oh Gosh. Mine never stopped getting problems since they were originally pierced when I was little. I tried it all. Silver, gold... The holes just kept getting nasty every once in a while. Now I've been earings free for about... Two years perhaps? Best decision ever. Never got another issue. I miss a little wearing earings but there are still necklaces and bracelets and such.

    Love your room and organization! Your room is huge☺️ A basic tip for your ear piercings not healing fast is not sleeping on them or touching them. Also make sure your earrings are gold, silver, titanium or surgical metal (it might help)! Also try to put on rubbing alcohol everyday to clean the piercings. Hope it is helpful :)

    jasmine, about the thing with your ears, I experienced the same thing too when I was younger. my mom found out that I was allergic to anything that wasn't in its purest form. I don't know if that made any sense, but what I'm basically saying is that you might have an allergic reaction to certain types of earrings. try getting the hypoallergenic kinds or try finding some jewelry that is made out of pure metal whether that be gold or silver. hope that helps even just a little ^.^

    Chamomile tea with salt, is what I use for my piercing. Some boiling water from a kettle, some salt and a chamomile teabag. Please don't use any cotton products bc fibers can stay, instead use kitchen roll or use the actual teabag when it's cooled down enough. This is great as it has cleaning and calming aspects.

    the one getting infected could be because the earring itself is dirty or kinda rusty depending on the material, switch it out and take out the earring itself to clean it when you clean your ear is what i do when my piercing gets infected.

  • @madisynpavlick9326
    @madisynpavlick9326 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have had similar problems with earrings too. I've actually had to get them done like 4 different times because the piercing hole kept closing up. My solution was that I found out that I was actually allergic to the metal that the earring was and so that was why it kept getting infected. The only type of earrings I can wear are pure gold, and or plastic ones. So maybe try testing out different materials of earrings and just see which ones are better or worse. Hope this helps! :)

    I have two helix piercings and the only reason my ears get infected is most likely due to the earrings, which may not be the best quality. Anything that’s titanium, silver or gold should be fine for ur piercings. Also a lot of people forget to clean their piercing spots without anything( jewelry) in/on it. I got my piercings last year as well so hope this helps!!

    Re: Piercings!
    I know exactly what you're going through with the "magically getting re-infected one, but I thought you healed already!" one, hahaha! I have four ear piercings, two classic lobe ones that I got done as a baby, and two I did with a professional piercing artist, another lobe and one inner conch.
    The inner conch one is a fiasco itself. Like it's fine but it just take patience to let it heal (it's been a yearrrr, heal already!).
    The new lobe piercing is pretty much "healed" already but if I put in cheap jewelry it can get reinfected. For now I leave it with nothing or put in a surgical steel earring (you can buy a big variety of cute surgical steel bar earrings similar to what you wear as it's in the healing process). If I REALLY want to wear something fancy I only leave it for a couple of hours at most and then leave the surgical steel earring in to 'calm' the piercing for the evening. I still clean it and take care of it as if it wasn't healed.
    My old piercings are bullet proof. It doesn't matter what I put in them, nothing happens. It just takes time I guess. I've had these for 20+ years so it makes sense.

    I got my ears pierced at 14, they heald no problem. I got a second ear piercing in my 20ies, and I unfortunatelly tugged ony my ear very hard once. It got stuck in a sweater or something and started bleeding a bit. So it took a lot longer to heal and I was administaring desinfectant drops for a very long time. They healed now nicely but are alot more sensitive than my classical ear piercings. I mean, they are right nect to one anoter, it is the same tissue, but to this day, I cannot put very cheap jewelery in them because it will feel weird. Otherwise I'm not allergic to any metals or anything. So some earrings are fine in the old piercings, but not in the new ones.
    Anyway.
    I've got some special desinfectant drops for ear piercings from the pharmacy, which were very cheap. Applied them religiously. When I could exchange the earrings and it was healed enough, I only use silver or gold ones there and try to change them on a regular basis, so that I can also clean out the dead skin cells accumulating on the earring. They are fine by now but it took them a lot longer to heal then my original ones.

    Solution to your ear-piercing problem:
    1. Apply coconut oil to the spot and around it everyday.
    2. Wear metal earring piece, (preferably small size) for some time. Like don't remove it everyday, maybe except during the oil applying time. Because if you don't wear anything, a) the hole becomes small, and you have to pierce it again
    b) it'll infect your ear each time you wear something new
    3. While choosing the long term earring, don't choose the ones that are too tight.
    I got my ear pierced when I was 2, so these stuff worked well for me. Hope they work for you too!
