  • Creating 3D models doesn't have to be difficult or expensive anymore. Gaussian splatting has made it fast and easy for everyone, and you don't even need anything special to create them.
    Want to edit the results? No problem. This has the ability to export to a wide variety of systems such as Blender, Autocad and so on.

    Powerful. Will try it out!

      It really is. And I bet you have a ton of images that you can already just use. Would love to see the results.

    Usually these laggy browser media issues have to do with hardware acceleration settings, not the browser specifically. Might wanna try toggling it in firefox if that's your preferred browser

      Thanks for the suggestion - it was a good idea. Unfortunately, in my case, it didn't fix the problem. It's not a super powerful machine - a Mac Mini M2. It works for most of what I do very well but not this specific case of Firefox with Polycam.

    Great video, thanks! Is there a way to export that model into a 3D web viewer where measurments can be made etc?

      I have not tried this yet but you can check out skybrowse which gives that option I'm told.

    Great video and amazing result. Could you share some more details about the settings of this "mission"? Like how many photos were taken and what was the distance from the machine? How many orbits did you shoot and what was (were) the altitude(s)? Also what was the gimbal angle? I see that you set up the resolution of the photos at 1080p: did you get better results when shooting at 4k (if tried) or does it only affect the processing time for little improvement? I am also using the M3E drone and I'm trying to switch to WebODM and Polycam for 3D model rendering but since the results in both are awful and far far away from what you show in your videos I suspect that my shootings are not properly tuned (or not enough photos)... Thanks

      Hi. I did two orbits for each set, one with video and one using photos. I was about 30ft away and changed altitude half way through to give a different angle. For video I used 4k, but the photo capture gave better results.
      I took 168 photos but reduced it to 150 to keep it under the limit for a free account to process. I don't recall exactly altitudes but something like 30ft and then down to 15ft.
      For 3D you need a mix of angles to give the software plenty to work with.
      Since you have the M3E - try using a smart oblique (see my other video) and then add a low orbit around whatever it is and see how that works for you.
      Hope that helps.

      @@aviosmedia Thanks for the details. I'll give it another try. I think I was keeping the drone too far away from the subject...

    Do you know if I can use this to make a map of my half finished yard by walking through and capturing photos with my cellphone? Does it only work if you circle around one object that you want to model, like you've done with the drone in this video? The S23 Ultra has a pretty good camera so quality might be nice. Although I have access to a Air 3 right now too. I made a model with a Leica laser scanner before but don't have access to that one right now.

      I have done many things using my S21 and it works fine. Give it a shot!

      @sampsalol 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aviosmedia thanks I will. What kind of model accuracy have you achieved with the S21? Good enough to do some height planning on a yard?

    • @aviosmedia
      @aviosmedia  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are looking to do measurements etc. then I think the S21 is the wrong device. The GPS is not accurate. But...maybe reach out to the poly cam people (I don't work for them) and see what they suggest.
