It's quite a wide angle lens, so my assumption is you are too close to the building. Try moving back a bit. That will also help with gps accuracy.

Correct. If you can establish a solid RTK connection then your drone flight will be more accurate, and the metadata collected will also be accurate. However, if there were a failure (e.g. loss of RTK) during flight, which can happen especially in areas with poor coverage, or you just wanted to add an extra layer of protection, then you can post process the data using the method show in this video th-cam.com/video/cESXvYiQ5ps/w-d-xo.html Finally, I would always recommend having GCPs and checkpoints. You can then process using those for another level of security - especially checkpoints which help ensure that everything is where it needs to be.

Did u ever figure out why kml cannot be loaded from google earth to pilot 2? Remember I was using Microsoft and not apple

@@joezurek7804 Turns out you can export from google earth and into Pilot 2. All of the examples people had that failed did no originate in Google Earth, they started in other programs such as QGiS. I tried many variations and all of the examples people were able to give me stared somewhere else, were imported into Google Earth and then exported. If you create in Google Earth and export as a KML or KMZ then Pilot 2 loads it no problem. For the cases where you started somewhere else, I put a follow up video out showing how to do that in Flight Hub 2.

They don't make it easy! I use a program called Android File Transfer which (if I recall) is made by google. But they keep hiding it so I can't find the link to where to download it now. There are other app out there but this one was free and works well, except on my phone where it's a bit hit or miss and I need to retry multiple times.

Yes, I connect my controller to a hotspot - often my phone. A save error usually means there is a problem with the data you entered so it can't connect. I've had it where the data was all correct and it still didn't work and they couldn't explain why. That was not RTK2GO, but a different provider. But I was able to use a different connection point and that one worked, so maybe try a different connection point even if it is further away. It might not give you what you need in terms of accuracy, but it could help determine if things are working. I wish I could help more but sometimes the connection points just don't want to play nice.

Well, after many failed attempts again today I ordered all the parts to build my own base station. Then tonight I tried again and it connected, and shortly thereafter I found that Florida has its own network free for public use and I was able to make 3 separate connections after registering. Like you said, some days things just don’t play nice. 👍

@@TheMalerdaemon Awesome! I'm glad you got it sorted. Building your own base station sounds interesting. NY has a good CORS network. But if I try to connect to a specific base station it never works and they can't tell me why. Fortunately they have an option where it connects to the nearest one and that always seems to work so...🤷

Unfortunately, as with most technology tutorials, they become out of date. I am no longer using this method to share with clients, so I would have to spend time looking into that. They do update the instructions so, in theory, just following the instructions provided will get you what you need. But...what is it that you are trying to do because often there are faster, better, easier, and cheaper ways to get to the result you need. Maybe we can get you to the same result without having to go down that path.

@@topoindia4172 To do that you are going to need a URL with a security certificate. You will probably also need a static IP address to point the URL to. Those are outside the scope of this tutorial, but a quick google search should give you what you need and the hosting provider that you buy the URL from can assist with the certificate.

Hi. Yes, you can create these directly in the RC. That was not the case when I first tried this but, after an update, it is now available. Just start creating a route as you normally would and it will show up as one of the options. You do not need an RTK module to tun these. You don't need the D-RTK...at all...ever. It's a nice tool that works seamlessly but, IMHO, there are better options such as the Emlid Reach RS2+ or RS3 which do the same job, for less money, without locking you in to DJI equipment. It seems that came out after I created those missions but it certainly appears now. I did say "as at the time of creating" 🙂 Interestingly they have now also added the linear route, which was previously not available, so both of those now work. Thanks for the clarification!

Everything shown in this video was created using a free account. There are some features that are paid but you don't need a paid account to do this.

Very interesting! I have an RTK module but I only install it when I need it. I'll take a look and update the comments here once I've checked it out - thanks for the input. It's amazing how much I learn when I put these videos out.

I'll have to see if there is a way to edit it - I might be able to cut it out. One nice thing about Vimeo over TH-cam is you can replace videos, but YT doesn't allow that. Thanks for the correction!

Great question. I've not found a way for it not to slow down between components. If you need an orbit and then a waypoint as shown in the video, problem is that the flight direction between the two components almost always abruptly changes requiring a complete stop from a physics standpoint. A couple of options are: a. Edit the video with a nice transition - sometimes it doesn't have to be a continuous video. In fact it's pretty rare that it does need to be. b. Create a waypoint compnent that has additional points to create a circle before the final leg. That way you don't run into the slowing down between components and you can even build a nice curve into the final leg movement to smooth out some of those problems caused by that pesky physics thing. Hope that helps!

It's possible! The software changes all the time and the last time I used terrain follow I used the downloaded DSM. The little graph only shows in the camera view, so make sure you are in that view and that it is the real time terrain follow (using the camera) as that is the only mode it works in. Also, the bottom right might be showing the obstacle avoidance view, so try switching that window. Next time I have an opportunity I'll check it out.

The note about FH becoming slow if you have a lot of polygons is a good one - I have noticed the same thing. Always learning!!

I can't say for sure but my assumption is yes. As long as you can download the data for a period of time you should be able to use that to correct the image location data

@PerElofsonMora That's fantastic! Thank you! I tried it out and it works exactly as you described and, yes, that is a much easier way to do this. One of the reasons I create training videos is because I always learn in the process. Often it is through trial and error as I put the videos together but sometimes, like this one, someone will weigh in and teach me something amazing. Soo...I'll leave this video up (at least for the time being) but will probably end up replacing it soon as this is a much better way. Thanks for weighing in!

@@aviosmedia I'm happy to help. I had the same issue importing when I got a job with 13 areas that the customer had made in Google Earth. I tried the import in the "Flight route" tab but never understood how to get it working. Then I fiddled around and checked FH's all tabs and found another import and voila, the import was done. :)

@@PerElofsonMora I had a similar issue. 10 different solar sites, each needing 3 different flights and, in some cases, multiple areas per site. I knew I could do it on the controller and then export them to FH so that's what I did. It worked great, but this is a better solution so keep an eye out for another video covering that!

Sorry - I think I need a bit more information. Are you asking when it is legal to use it (which will vary by location) for mapping and cartography? Or are you asking about areas where the maps you generate can be used/sold to clients?

@@mundocoban It can be, but it really depends what you need to achieve. A drone is just a tool so it can be used for a lot of things. Do you have a construction client that needs something, or you want to sell them your services?

I don't deliver to clients using TH-cam - that's just for training videos. I have portals that can host geotiff photos (orthos/maps), 360 photos, standard images and video. These are put into a portal - usually with regular captures so that the clients can compare progress on site. The portal I use depends on the client needs. So if you can tell me what products you expect to deliver I can offer some suggestions on software that can do that.

I assume you have logged in with your user id and password. Assuming that step wasn't missed, you do need to start the app each time you want the sync to happen - it won't happen if the app is not running. Once you start the app and wait a bit you should see a quick message pop up at the bottom telling you how many were synced. If that still isn't working then I'd suggest contacting Airdata support - they are generally pretty helpful.

Thank for quick response. I have now managed to backup the missions from the RC Controller to FlightHub 2. What I had missed is that on the Controller when logging in, you need to enter the Project Number and not the Project Name. It is all somewhat academic as FlightHub 2 does not support the M3M although it seems you can backup the M3M missions to FlightHub 2 but if you try to edit them you could risk losing some of the settings specific to the M3M. If you do download a mission that has not edited on FlightHub 2 then it looks to be intact so FlightHub 2 could be a useful backup storage, but that is about all as far as the M3M is concerned.

@@johnlord7188 Good to hear. I have heard that you can use the M3M by selecting the M3E. I can't say I have tried it myself but it's worth a shot - try a small test mission and see how it goes.

Glad it was helpful! You are not the first one to struggle with that as it's a bit buried. It's actually set at the organization level. Click on your name and select My Organization. Then click on Organization settings (the little cog) and then click Edit next to the organization name.

@@aviosmedia whatever the very latest is. I thought it was the original Kml problem where it only accepted kmls from Google earth so I made sure everything was up to date

But...they have done strange things in the past. One of my videos never even made it to publication because they pulled a feature just after I made it. Ive had quite a few people try on thr latest version. The ones that had problems it turned out to be how the KML was created. @@aviosmedia Downloaded. FYI my KMLs started life in Mapinfo as Tab files, then translated to Shapefiles. Imported into Google Earth Pro then Save Place As (Exported) as a KML or KMZ. Neither worked. Interesting, I had some old KMLs from previous jobs still on the RC. I tried to make a new route with these, failed. Even though they had previously worked
