      @@jamqx3243 I ran 800m track and 3-5k cross country and made Northern English Championship in both…and failed hard in each event which was to make the GB National Final. 800m track at Gateshead, we’re Bolt et al have raced, was worse cos came top 50mout of 150 after getting ‘spiked’ at the start, had to put my shoe back on, had a pretty bad tear down the back of my ankle, and was last, so made up over 100 places. If I didn’t get spiked from behind, top 20 would have been easily in reach, maybe qualifying for the Nationals. I was 14 now 44 so as I type, I’m remembering that day. 800m track was a 4hr ish coach trip, and it was my birthday, my dad had been to Japan and got me a Sega Game Gear. Not out in the U.K.,or US, it was far better than the Nintendo as it was colour so I played it, letting my mates play on the coach (bus), but didn’t warm up properly. Wasted getting that far and a full day and 8 hour round trip. Sometimes a gift can be a curse!

    True sportsmanship right there, at least one athlete stopped to offer help.Everyone else was to worried about themselves making it across the line.
    He definitely had a lot of determination many would have tapped out.

    First of all, tremendous respect for this young man and his never gonna quit attitude. I love it!!
    But please help me understand something. I understand this man is a world class runner at various distances. And knowing that preparation for a race such as this begins days if not weeks before the actual race, what happened, or didn't happen, that would cause him not to be able to run this race as I am sure he wanted to? Anyone know this man and can speak for him?
    There is a lesson to be learned here for all distance runners.

    Me finishing the 2 mile run on the Army PT test 😂🤣😂🤣😅. Mad respect to him though. I'm always more impressed with the guys who are able to push themselves to the limit as opposed to those who maybe ran a faster time but didn't push themselves as hard. He should be proud of his performance.

    Yeah...we are all talking about how courageous he is, but to me the big question is, what caused a gifted and fit athlete as Cooper to finish like a depleted marathoner in a 10k race? I don't think this happened to him before. If I was the coach, I would do a full medical workup on him.

    • @nomaderic
      @nomaderic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It could be a number of things ranging from not fueling properly, not sleeping properly the night before, etc etc all kinds of things can and will affect your run
      Many runners have had this happen to them, im nowhere near an elite runner but I've hit the wall twice and it was the exact same as this except I wasn't getting back up, my legs were DONE. My guess is he is 100 percent ok medically. Sure it wouldn't hurt to run tests and make sure but I'd put my money on him being completely fine. Things like this happen

    • @lavs8696
      @lavs8696 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nomaderic exactly, plenty of people DNF races, it’s very difficult to pinpoint exactly why the legs aren’t there a certain day. But this being his last race he wanted to finish it.

    Any time you hear someone say they're exhausted...tell them to watch this. I can't stand to hear someone say they're exhausted and they are still walking and talking. Most people have NEVER been "exhausted".
