  • Hey Arcade1up fans! In this video I show off all the cosmetic mods I've made to my Arcade1up Terminator 2 cabinet. I love adding all the extra details that A1up missed on making these cabinets look more like the original cabinet. Hope this video helps you out making your new T2 caninet look even more bad ass!

    Owning one of these machines has been a life-goal of mine, since I was standing on a crate in the dream-machine, playing this at the mall on 90s weekends…
    Now with the amazing Black-Friday deals, I managed to land one of these babies, for $260.00!…
    But what you’ve given me, sir, is a cabinet I can only hope to own, one day. The work you’ve put into it and the details are undeniable. That’s something to be proud of. I hope one day soon, mine will be like yours!

    I like the idea of raising the guns. Having them on the drawer slides though🤔what’s going to stop them from sliding back in during gameplay😂

      The slider bars sorta lock in place, or they are a little stiff that it wouldn't move much. Unfortunately i had to put this mod on hold for a long time. Now because the parts i bought to male the gun move back and forth wasn't working out.

    Ive gone you one better dude; I've done everything you have except I have added the following: I put colour coded screw caps to fill the screw holes and have applied red 'Carolco' decals on the bottom r/h corner of each side immediately below the title as seen on the original arcade machine. If I could post a photo here I would show you.

  • @9scorpions
    @9scorpions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work! All the little things add up. Super interested to see how the drawer slide works out. I think the primary challenge there is going to be how well it takes force (vertical or horizontal) while someone is playing. You may consider using the slides on their sides as they are designed to hold weight in that orientation, but it also may be the case that the short slide provides the additional stability needed. But only one way to find out...try it. Keep up the great work!

    • @FROSTINATOR
      @FROSTINATOR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Yes indeed all those details. Haha. Good idea with the rails placed on their sides! Will have to play around with that. Like you said which I was thinking with them being short they might be okay with a little weight on them. While playing. Grant i wouldn't be leaning on them too much as I think i would be able to place my elbow on the edge of control. We shall see. Thanks for the tip!

    • @9scorpions
      @9scorpions 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FROSTINATOR looking forward to see how that goes. The only other option I see is somehow turning the entire control deck into a module that can be pulled out via slides. That would add stability but may be more complex to solve for and the connections to the monitor may not have enough slack to pull it off. I am a subscriber...so will stay tuned for your next video!

    I found something to raise the guns up. These black metal shower pipes with a base, they have a screw at each end and they are 6 inches long. I got them on Amazon. They are square on the outside and round on the inside and the gun cords fit right through the pipe. I'm trying to find a way to mount the guns to the pipes, and maybe forget about the bases and stick the pipes inside the gun stands and mount the pipes inside the gun stands, I've been looking for some kind of swivel thing that is hollow inside that fits inside the gun stands. I want to paint the guns, too. I got the arcade accurate marquee from Szabo's as well. And, I got graphics with a more arcade accurate 2 for the sides and front and I used a different kickplate with a hole for a coin door and it's blank on the bottom so I have an arcade accurate T2 sticker I will put there. I want to get a Terminator 2 graphic to put over the Arcade1up on the deck like you did and get a bigger John and Sarah graphic for the bottom of the bezel. I did a recessed monitor mod as well but just mounted the metal monitor to the upper back cross panel with big velcro pieces on each side of the back of the metal monitor. I think it's secure now, it won't fall off because the adhesive on the velcro is pretty strong and it can hold up to 10 pounds. I used velcro instead of two way tape in case I needed to remove the monitor from the wood cross panel. But, the cord for the speakers is too short, time to get an extension cord so that it can be plugged into the pcb on the back of the monitor. I eventually want to use a soundbar on the top of the cabinet on the flat top panel above the marquee. I wish it could be softmodded to add a few more gun games like Operation Wolf, Revolution X, etc.

    • @robkrasinski6217
      @robkrasinski6217 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was these black shower parts and I'm trying to figure out how to mount them. I mounted the metal monitor in the back of the cabinet on an upper panel with velcro but the guns still don't register right if you have the guns above the black stands. If you move back a bit the guns work better. I guess the camera needs to see the entire white border.

    • @FROSTINATOR
      @FROSTINATOR  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The tape is colored masking tape from Walmart. I believe I applied two layers of Red. Black masking tape is applied over the marquee borders. The red tape was cut in sections in order make it look like it's curving. I carefully cut the tape with a hobby knife. I drew a curved line with pencil on red tape after it was applied to side panels. I also did all this before I built the entire cabinet. I would lay your cabinet sideways at least when doing this.

    What was the spray paint you used for the guns and what did you use to cover camera lense? Also do the guns feel different when painted

    • @FROSTINATOR
      @FROSTINATOR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mentioned in video I used blue painters tape. Peels off nicely. When i applied the tape to the lense, i put 4 pieces to cover whole circle then used a hobby knife to cut away the extra around inside circle. I used Rustoleum semi gloss black spray paint with primer in it. About 2 to 3 coats. I hung the guns on a wire around the trigger area for easy spraying. The guns feel the same when painting but just be sure to allow the paint to dry a full 24 hours before touching. You can spray 2nd and 3rd coat within 40 mins each coat. If you touch it before the 24 hours you will leave finger prints. I tried to do a clear seal coat on one of them and messed it up. Bubbled up for some reason so it's just the semi gloss black which may rub off some over time where you handle the gun. Hope this helps!

      Yes, the paint may wear a little here and there around the handle but not super drastically. I did spray clear coat on it afterward but for some reason it screwed my paint job up making it bubble like and I had to sand it all off to repaint black again. I'm thinking maybe it messed up because the clear coat I had was an older can?

    • @liarliarpumpkineater4808
      @liarliarpumpkineater4808 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Painter here. Something like krylon spray paint would take years (at, I don't know, an hour a day) to wear off. The key is letting the paint cure. Most spray paint will dry to the touch in half an hour or so, but for the paint to cure fully and bond fully takes at least a week... more like 2. So if you spray it, and start using it the next day, the oils and sweat on your fingers will mess the curing process up. Also spraying a clear coat over spray paint has something to do with the curing process. If it hasn't dried for a very long time, before you spray the clearcoat, it will cause problems. Even if you do wait it can cause problems (crackling/bubling) because of the interaction of chemicals, so not a good idea. Even if that works you should still let the clearcoat dry for a week or 2 before use.
