There really isn't much that changed over time...Only small changes(Project9:Both versions are performed by Effie,Deena,"LoLa"/Boston:There was no ONO,both versions of the song were replaced by two versions of 'It's Gonna Be My Time'/2009 Tour:the song is performed like it appears on the OBCR)

@babyboi1002 True! The ballad version of "One Night Only" is better than the ballad version of "Gonna Be My Time." Yet the disco version of "Gonna Be My Time" is better than the disco version of "One Night Only."

Is this Nell Carter? If i'm not mistaken she was suppose to be the original EFFIE, but she got GIMME A BREAK, so Jennifer Holiday took over, she had just finished the play Your Arms Too Short To Box With GOD.

I think it’s gonna be my time works better as far as telling the story...Effie is Looking for her time and waiting for her time to come again so I feel it tells the story...one night story doesn’t necessarily push the story it’s just a nice pop song. I love how musicals evolve.

Another great post.
Interesting to hear in the 2009 version that Syesha sings stronger in the regular part of the song but her "sung dialog" is softer. Shouldn't that be the other way around for the character?
Also I wonder why in the workshop of the OBC that Effie was originally going to have died by the 2nd act, then how was One Night Only going to have been sung by her in Act 2?
