She definitely already had her moment. Baby non of us will ever forget her voice in sister act. She is one of the main reasons we bought the soundtrack
This reunion made an almost 40 y/o Puerto Rican from Queens, NY shed some tears. If you’re a kid who grew up in the 90’s, Sister Act 2 represented a time of innocence, purity, spirit and wonder…when we believed anything was possible. While the world has a way of stripping that away as children grow…this reunion transported my soul back to that time! It’s been 30 years! That’s wild. Blessings to the cast and all involved with the film. I’d bet the impact is beyond what they ever could have imagined.

Losing a loved one and dealing with grief is one of the hardest challenges. My mom has been gone almost 4 years, and I'm still not over it. I do take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain or suffering.
One of the most emotional and powerful performances I have ever seen on TV. The nostalgia, the memories, the voices, the high school students, Whoopi's emotion, all of it. Kudos to the performers and producers of this segment. It should win an Emmy.

I saw her do it only one other time. She was in The Netherlands talking about her role as Guinan on Star Trek: The Next Generation. FYI, Guinan is mostly “a watcher, not a do-er” but steps up when required, and doesn’t have a lot of close friends. An audience member stepped up during Q&A and identified himself as having autism. He told her how that character inspired/empowered him to break out of his introspective shell (including the very acts of just attending the event and saying it to her). I was 15 years old, three decades ago when I saw Sister Act 2 movie, and I said "I WANT TO BE IN THAT CHOIR !!" Those cool kids who can sing and dance and full of dreams and aspirations. This movie has seriously made a positive impact to our generation. Thank you The View for bringing us back to 90's memory lane when we were young, full of dreams and aspirations.
I was in High School during this Time as well, and I was in the choir when this movie came out. After the movie was over, the entire audience stood and applauded. What Drum line did for Band Culture around the World, Sister Act 2 did for the culture of Choir Singing. I can't tell you how many times we replayed those scenes, both during school and after school hours. Our student choir director use to play His eye is on the sparrow from the piano, and try to mimic the characters version in the movie. I think I even had the soundtrack at one time. That same student director went on to become A top 5 American Idol contestant on season 3, the best season!🕎🕎🕐🕐🤴🤴⚜⚜⚓⚓🔱🔱🌊🌊🚀🚀🌌🌌
The amount of nostalgia I have, watching them recreate this with the original cast is beyond amazing. I might have to go and rewatch this movie again, after looking at this.
@@amh5090Yes, Lauryn Hill was THE star of the movie, in my opinion. She must have a good reason for not joining this reunion, assuming they asked her. I also didn’t see Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was mainly in the background, but she was part of the classroom.
@@Christopher_Robert_Evans I didn't know that. I didn't know those actors back then but I know them now. And I enjoy watching their roles. It's something to see how far they have come. This was really good.
@@amh5090 I didn’t remember seeing Jennifer in Sister Act 2 either at first, until I became familiar with her name after seeing her in the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies and then I noticed her name in the credits. Yes, it’s really nice being able to follow actors (& singers) from a young age and seeing them getting better and getting bigger & more demanding roles. And there are loads of them like Lauryn and Jennifer that started in the ‘90s, and seem to still have successful careers.
Whoopi crying 😭. She never cries. No matter how many years has passed, this scene will forever go down as impactful and legendary. I don’t think they knew this scene they did would still be this powerful for decades to come.
Haven't seen Whoopi this Happy and emotionally moved in a while you can tell she needed and appreciated this moment! 🙌🏾🙌🏾😩😩 way to make a 38 year old Man with 3 children cry🤣🤣🤣 I MISS MY 90s CHILDHOOD !
I’m 45 years old and disabled with chronic pain, and still, to this day, if I need a pick me up or I’m having a bad pain day, I’ll watch this movie or the first one, or I’ll pull up one of the musical performances on TH-cam to watch. They will always make my day feel a little bit brighter for having watched them. ❤ Not a lot of movies in my life are the spirit lifter that I need on bad days, but this is always one of them.
I play this song for my patients at my hospital who are into gospel music. It makes their day, iy gives them chance, it gives them hope and happiness. It encourages them to not give up. They feel much more alive.
I'm a 48-year-old man and I have watched this clip probably 25-30 times I can't get enough of watching it it's spiritual it's so emotional The cast is just incredible if sister act 3 is anything like this it'll be spectacular and Whoopi Goldberg oh my God she's just amazing so much love for her from this cast and it's so much love she had for them it's just a total love fest 10 out of 10!
I am in tears. I saw Sister Act 2 in theaters in 1993. I was 11 years old and it was such a positive movie with a hopeful message. This reunion is amazing and powerful.
I couldn’t even finish watching before the tears started falling. What happened to great movies and people who weren’t afraid to acknowledge their love for God. What happened to movies that uplift our children and our communities. These kids today know nothing about movies like this or what it can do for someone who is struggling or needs guidance. Social media ain’t it. This right here saved someone’s life. It made them believe in something much more than what was in front of them. It gave them joy and hope.
There are plenty of movies for Christian people to watch. They just don't go mainstream. What made this relatable and fun to watch was the semi realistic story of Rita and her mother and how a teacher can change students. It really was just an updated To Sir with Love.
@@minilea144 It also has elements of the play, "Mama, I Want to Sing." It has Rita and her mom who doesn't except her singing. Then you have Tanya Blount's character who is allowed to sing, but can only do so in the church, though the movie never really expands on this. Every black sitcom has used this premise at one point or another. Even Quantum Leap had an episode with this premise.
It's like the first time I ever saw this performed... FLOODS of HAPPY TEARS!! Omg this reunion is EVERYTHING I needed today!!! Sister Act 1 & 2 will always be up there with my all time favorite flicks EVER. 💜🎶💜

I remember rewinding my Sister Act 2 VHS over and over again so I could learn this choreography as a child. It’s amazing how fast it all came back as I danced along to this reunion performance. Why it made me cry is a mystery. I still love this movie so much. Thanks The View for bringing this back in our lives!!
Same here! Was doing the dance with them, I used to rewind to learn the choreography 😂. Definitely started to cry when looking at all of their faces and remembering who each student was in the film. Oh this just gave me all the feels.

In this segment, it captured the 90's in its full splendor . This right here is why we who experienced the 1990's miss the 90's, powerful
@@timetraveler3733 You are not alone.. :)
The amount of nostalgia I have, watching them recreate this with the original cast is beyond amazing. I might have to go and rewatch this movie again, after looking at this.
Right. Lol. I used to watch it so much. I loved this movie. I wish they could have got my fav. Lauryn.
One of my favorite scenes of any movie ever. Lol. So good!!
30年経っても、先生と生徒!って感じが残ってて嬉しくなった😢

Whoopi crying 😭. She never cries. No matter how many years has passed, this scene will forever go down as impactful and legendary. I don’t think they knew this scene they did would still be this powerful for decades to come.
Haven't seen Whoopi this Happy and emotionally moved in a while you can tell she needed and appreciated this moment! 🙌🏾🙌🏾😩😩 way to make a 38 year old Man with 3 children cry🤣🤣🤣 I MISS MY 90s CHILDHOOD !
I hear ya!! I felt the same way 😊
Deff agree...I think all us Gen X'ers miss our younger years
Whoopi needed this. She has survived COVID and this performance is a blessing!
Same except I'm 43. I'm not a crier but this was good. Definitely left a smile on my face
How many of y’all did the kick step when the “come and join the chorus the mighty mighty chorus” part came on?!👀🤣
Every single person who enjoyed this movie when it first came out. I know I was dancing right along with all of the cast!! ❤
I know the whole rap! It’s one of my greatest accomplishments 🤣🤣🤣
I did all the steps 😂😂😂😂
I was right there with you. The entire dance move. lol
I used to pretend I was one of the girls in that circle lol
I’m 45 years old and disabled with chronic pain, and still, to this day, if I need a pick me up or I’m having a bad pain day, I’ll watch this movie or the first one, or I’ll pull up one of the musical performances on TH-cam to watch. They will always make my day feel a little bit brighter for having watched them. ❤ Not a lot of movies in my life are the spirit lifter that I need on bad days, but this is always one of them.
Am I the only one crying? I literally have goosebumps! Thank you all for making an 80’s baby day!
Not at all! ❤ Me too!
YOU ARE NOT! I was already crying and when WHOOPI lost it, I want from cute to UGLY CRY!
No you are not. I'm 43, over here just crying
Just commented exactly the same thing.
@@veronicasnowdenministries8110 same here. Same age. So I am not crazy.
Not me cheesing and crying at work... This made me soooo happy😢
Tanya made me forget Lauryn wasn't available or didn't show. 😂 This was a Joy to watch 🎉
Unfortunately, Lauryn couldn't do this part these days. Her singing voice is too damaged
@@ivancn That is utterly wrong Lauryn could do it if she wanted.
This has been on repeat. Can’t stop crying and smiling. What a moment🙏🏽❤️
Def a repeat. The joy and happiness.
@@downtovacaythis was such a nostalgic moment and when Whoopi cried I lost it😭. Gonna watch Sister Act 1 and 2 tonight 😂
@@lynetteblackwell9827 100%. The stories told about her. The emotions at the end. Got me good.
So many emotions. So happy they did this!
This deserves an EMMY
They will get one hopefully
I play this song for my patients at my hospital who are into gospel music. It makes their day, iy gives them chance, it gives them hope and happiness. It encourages them to not give up. They feel much more alive.
Gracias por compartir ❤
Whoa. She performed this like a seasoned veteran. I always loved her talent. She is one of the best (vocally) in the industry. Keep rising Tanya!
This is so beautiful Whoopi crying made me cry. But to see everyone from Sister Act 2 again after 30 years priceless. I’m ready for Sister Act 3.
Crying 1990s tears.. this brought so much memories
"IF You Wanna Be Somebody, If You Wanna Go Somewhere, You Better Wake Up And Pay Attention". Missing the old days where more good people exists.
I’m always singing this on a weekly basis. I guess as a boost for myself
I so agree with this.
I freaking LOVE how Tanya interprets Whoopi's conducting into sound. Amazing.
They ALL understood the assignment. Definitely made my childhood come out. ❤😢😊
Word!
You couldn't tell me I wasn't in that choir 30 years ago, and you can't tell me I was in it last night, either! I still remember the choreography 😂💜
Same lol my cousin and I would learn the dances and the songs, matter of fact, the whole script to perform at family functions.
Me too lol
I’m a almost 53 female and I’ve been watching since yesterday I keep watching it absolutely beautiful gives me chills ❤❤
Litreally got goosebumps watching this. Incredible
I should not be over here crying this hard. This, and many other 90s movies were so good. I truly miss these times. This was everything
I can't believe how wonderful they did after 30 years this is absolutely amazing
I am in tears. I saw Sister Act 2 in theaters in 1993. I was 11 years old and it was such a positive movie with a hopeful message. This reunion is amazing and powerful.

Very true!
I must have been 11 years old too back then😢....crying REAL Millennial tears right now...❤
감사합니다!!!
내.한켠 아름답고 소중한 추억을 재생시켜줘서...
I’m literally crying while watching this 😩 We were soooo privileged to have gotten this timeless classic as kids 🥰
Love this
There are plenty of movies for Christian people to watch.
You may like Joyful Noise with Queen Latifah.

Aww. My Heart. Y’all, When Whoopi begins to break down after that Beautiful, epic performance, I broke down too, I FELT THAT!! You could just feel the Beautiful, Unconditional Love even after all these years. When you hear the Beautiful things that everyone said about Whoopi in the interviews, & if you have heard any of the beautiful things that have been said about working with The Queen Whoopi herself, you know Whoopi wasn’t part of any of the Sister Acts for the the pay, She was a part, because of her heart, the LOVE She had for her cast, it was passion, it’s because of her Beautiful heart, PERIOD!! Such Beautiful performances, & show. 🥹

You Can Tell that Tanya Had SO MUCH FUN with this performance cuz she looked like she was In Her Natural Element up there. She has NOT lost a Bit of Her Voice or Her Talent. This performance took me to Tears cuz it was so reminiscent of my high school days when I was the lead in my choir, had Toby's solo and CRUSHED IT like i Wrote the song myself!
