If I remember correctly, that's something even those in Japan agreed with. Carry On was a much better choice than the original music used in the scene.
I watched the new dubs and it's AWFUL! It sounds like one girl voiced all the female parts. No different accents or styles in speech. I have to watch things in Japanese cause they have ruined voice overs in cartoons in America.
I just had tears suddenly spring out as she said "Cosmic Moon Power!" This episode inspired me to be brave through some awful experiences as a kid. I always imagined being brave enough to defend myself like serena, who got serious and won because she knew her friends were counting on her
This episode shows that no matter how weak you may appear, or how scared you are, real courage comes from within and can come when you least expect it.

On the other hand, there are times I need my protagonists to hero up and kick some butt. Not having seen the Crystal version, I can't say which I like better.

The English dubbing by DIC Entertainment is MUCH BETTER than the new English dubbing by Viz Media, iconic, and family-friendly. DIC Entertainment wisely excised the filthy aspects of the original Japanese anime.

I know in most cases dubbed songs in anime tended to be kind of a mixed bag in those days but then you get gems like this and it makes me mourn for the days when they would actually do these things for anime.

I know I have a VERY unpopular opinion, I grew up OBSESSING over sailor moon, still a favorite to this day, that being said I actually prefer the ViZ dub overall BUT NOTHING can top the music of the DiC dub it makes the O.G so special and of course Terri as Serena
So many people (annoyingly) focus on the first few episodes where Usagi is a crybaby that they never look at this part. Hell, I bet some don't even remember that Beryl is put down by episode 45. They don't remember the Usagi (And my apologies for staying with the japanese name, I prefer those) who glared this woman who has taken everything from her: Her love, her original family, her home, her old life, and everything else and then said "Enough!" At the cost of her own life she basically put down this witch by overcoming everything that some think she never grows out of. This is one of the many reasons I love her so much.
The only issue i had really with the DiC dub of this episode is how tarnished the sacrifice/return of the scouts (merc,mars,veus/jupitar) by having them just "trapped" in the neganerse rather than dying
That’s because DiC was during a time where things had to be censored. Sucks that scenes were taken out but the DiC voice actors brought the characters to life. Viz was so monotone and whiny it was boring.

In the original, they just played the theme song at this point, which, IMHO, was not nearly as impressive as what DiC did.
