I believe the album is about depression, and the band members battles with anxiety, depression, addiction. The album is best listened to in order, because they wrote it as a progression of their feelings and how they dealt with these issues.
The album began with the song Get Up which is about Eric bass and his battle with clinical depression and yes the rest of it came from addiction and other problems that BrentSMITH and Eric bass battle
There is a great documentary video on TH-cam that explains what this album is all about start to finish and how it came to be and it started with the fact that Brent wrote the song get up about Eric which is where it all started if you type in Brent Smith dedicated get up to that's where it starts he'll explain how the album became a a story album
I stumbled upon Shinedown on TH-cam just like I stumbled onto your site. It's lucky for me I did. I became an instant fan of Shine Down. They have so many incredible songs you should check out. ENEMIES is a great video...super funny. THROUGH THE GHOST... Hauntingly beautiful {no pun intended} lol They are wordsmiths with their lyrics, writing about sensitive issues and then masterfully executed into brilliant songs. Brent Smith has one amazing voice to be reckoned with! Thank you so much for not constantly stopping the video. It's enough watching your face and expressions to tell me everything you feel about the song and then a pleasure to hear your thoughts afterwards. I will happily follow you now because I appreciate the way you view the videos. I stopped watching reactions because it was a little too much 'yap yap' throughout the entire song. Side note* You are a handsome guy...flash that smile, it's gorgeous* Luv from Canada 🇨🇦
I’m in recovery(clean & sober since Jan 21, 2015) and I remember the first time I heard this song. I was in my car like “YESSSS!!!!” 😂🙌🏼 Those of us in recovery definitely relate to this song ALOT.
Shinedown has been my favorite band for 15 years! They have saved me from the darkness of life's demons so many times! Their music helps me purge all if it!!! Best band ever.
Shinedown is one of the greatest most under rated bands in America. Their cover of Simple man is amazing. There isnt a song by them that I dont like. Amazing song writers and lyricists
This song is more like a shinedown song, this one is like the shinedown I fell in love with back in the beginning. I just love his voice, so much passion.
I totally agree. I used to love SD but a lot of their music lately has a different more pop oriented sound. But Monsters just kicks ass in the mode of 45
TheNeoEnigma I think there are some really good songs on both threat to survival and attention attention, it was mainly cut the cord that I don’t like off threat to survival. The lyrics are great it’s just the sound of the song overall I don’t like. And there’s a few off of attention attention I’m not super fond of but I don’t hate any of them. If you haven’t already you should also check out the Smith and Meyers sessions, they’re all acoustic covers of other bands songs, and they sound great!
Wendy Dotson that’s like the opposite of what most people think about threat to survival. Most people seem to only like cut the cord, but I also like misfits, black Cadillac, and thick as thieves.
Hi from over the pond in the Uk, Shinedown are starting to take off here and will hopefully get bigger, they have just toured here...I believe the whole album is about MH issues and this just demonstrates as you say what some people fight through daily.. not me thank god, the whole album written by bass gutarist who has his own issues and describes it as just a part of his brain he fights with on a regular basis ..Brilliant album, i listen in the car every day its that good..and the lady is hot ...or fit as we say..good review
They did a small documentary about the album, and this song was all about their monsters, vices, addictions and illnesses that eat away at each member of the band
Almost anything Brent sings is amazing. And this band LOVES their fans. Some of the genuinely nicest guys I’ve ever met! I’ve seen them 8 times and they never disappoint! I’ve been a Shinedown fan for about 16-17 years and there are so many great songs. Anything everyone else has already suggested, I agree with them. If you like his voice then check out Apocalyptica, Not Strong Enough featuring Brent. Amazing....thanks for opening the door to more new SD fans. They deserve all the recognition they can get!
I've watched numerous reviews to this song and you are only one of a few reactors that really got the message. Two separate stories in one video involving monsters that are both at this Marines funeral.
They are my all time favorite band. All their songs have a deep meaning. Brent sings with such power. Devil is another good one if you haven’t heard it yet.
Omg there is so much amazing Shinedown! I have been lucky enough to see them live twice and will see them again in two months with my oldest son! It’s going to be his first rock concert and we are both so excited! My song dedicated to my kids is by them called “I’ll Follow you”! But anyways you can never go wrong with any of their music bc they have a lot of variety. They have really hard stuff Like Sound of madness and Devil! Also some upbeat rock like “State of my Head” or “cut the cord”! And they have some with the most amazing messages like Monsters,Get Up and Second Chance! They are my favorite so please dig deeper I promise they are a band worth your time not just musically but also on a personal level all these men are just beautiful human beings🖤🤍🤟🏽⚠️⚠️⚠️🤍🖤🤟🏽
Subbed, you have a fan. As for the song, this is what Shinedown is all about - fantastic lyrics with a message, delivered by one of the best vocalists in rock.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT Seems like every album (showing my age, I know...) has at least one gem on it. Leave a Whisper was dark, great tracks are: 45, Better Version, Burning Bright. Us and Them was angry, great tracks are: Save Me (personal favorite), Shed Some Light, Beyond the Sun The Sound of Madness worked through some healing, great tracks are: The Crow & Butterfly, Breaking Inside, Call Me, Second Chance, Sound of Madness Amaryllis is more healing and discovery with a change in style, call it "maturity" if you will, great tracks are: Bully, Unity, Miracle, I'll Follow You. Threat to Survival is just that, fighting back: Cut the Cord, State of my head, How did you love Attention, Attention I've just started listening to but it slots right in after Sound of Madness as far as the sound, vibe, and rawness. Better I think than the last two: Devil, Monsters, Get Up, Evolve, Brilliant Keep up the great reactions!
@@scottjswenson There's a noticeable difference in their music from SoM onwards. Zach Myers and Eric bass coming in really elevated them to the next level in terms of musicianship and song writing. Not there's anything wrong with the first 2 albums, but they've added so many more dimensions to their sound since then.
I love that you listen to the entire song then give review. Most people stop the song throughout it and give reviews which is so annoying keep up the great work
They great band you have many more songs yet are still powerful and one of my favorite bands of all time if you haven't heard them before and you just barely hear him now and they're really good band for everybody to have a message on every one of them their songs
This is the third song in the Attention Attention album. You need to watch "Devil" then "Get Up" and this one will make more sense. I love this album. Great review.
Your review meant the world to me because you kept it real and did not pause the video once. You gave your opinion as you went. You have yourself a subscription and I will watch everything you have now lol
Another powerful Shinedown song is Second Chance. Love the song Monsters and finally reacted to the video with you and yes, I'm left unsettled. Just want to get that girl out of that environment!!!
Great song and great reaction. I would love to see a reaction video to How Did You Love by Shinedown. Your reactions seem real and authentic. Very refreshing.
The entire "Attention Attention" album is about dealing with mental health issues, deppression, anxiety, etc.. so highly recommend listening through it from start to finish

This is a continuation off of get up. If you notice in the picture she knocks off the night stand she is with the same military guy that they laid to rest in Get Up.
...he is broken, and certainly has a soul for other broken "folks." All sheeple have "owies," many of us have hurts beyond bandaids. YES, if you got the sedan, instead of the convertible for your sweet-16, you are NOT hurting. Yes, I do know that other "transgressions" may have happened along the way.
This song is off the "Attention; Attention" album.. It's a concept album. I certainly recommend that you listen to that album in it's entirety from beginning to end because it's designed to tell a story.
Hey TNT, I absolutely love Brent Smith of Shinedown! They have quickly turned into my favorite band! I found them on Utube , singing 'Simple Man ' you should definitely check it out! I think it's actually better than the original song! But with such an incredible voice that Brent has, how could anyone doubt me? Lol. Also too, you should check their song 'How Did You Love' , it is Perfection- For Real!!!! It hits your SOUL like a Mac Truck! And I dare You not to walk around humming it, and singing it to yourself after you hear it, it burns into your mind, you can't escape the way it makes you feel, Seriously! Check it out, I believe that excellence is a gift we can all share, enjoy my new friend 🤩, Always Shawna
I'd say react to Attention Attention, Devil, Get Up (They're all on the same album)....also check out Smith & Myers. Two of the members are doing their own thing as well and react to Bad At Love if you get a chance. These guys have become my personal favorite over the years and if you get time, look back at their old stuff before Brent cut his hair.
Their first album. I still have it, from middle school when Simple Man and .45 started playing on the radio. Wonderful chills of nostalgia from the very first note, every time! It's a wonderful to listen to as night falls, especially if it's about to rain.
In my opinion only, you can listen to just about ANY SHINEDOWN SONG and like it but, if I could have you listen to any one single track, it would be OUTCAST! Just a song that has stuck with me since the very first time hearing it.
Pretty much everything is worth listening to, even if it's not in a video. These guys have kept me from doing some stupid stuff in my last ten years. I lost the use of my legs in 2010, just before I hit 30. Lifes never been fair, but it can always get worse
Lol, I read and respond to all my comments. I love engaging the community. This video was soo powerful indeed. I'm going to have to add more Shinedown to this channel.
The Adventures of TNT that's amazing, I just found your vid cause YT knows I love this song so they put this vid in my recommended, I’m glad! So what do you think at the very end when the little girl is in the same space as the lady and looks at her?
That scene was very deep. Too me it seemed like the little girl was looking at her to see how she was handling her situation. Its obvious that shes dealing with her own problems so I think that its natural for someone to look to others in times of adversity to see how they handle a traumatic situation. I mean, this video just had so many layers, I could go on an on.
The Adventures of TNT yes I could go on and on too! I think the end confused me because during the vid I thought the little girl was the lady, when she was a kid. It was showing she was abused as a child.. At the end the little girl was her own person.. I don't know LOL! I want to talk to the videographer too! Anyway, great channel!! I have a great one for you idove to see your reaction- Godsmack 'Under Your Scars', one of my other faves I think you'll love!
ive watched a lot of reaction videos to this song and most see a messed up sexual relationship with the little girl. I saw it as the little girl being afraid after she lost her father and hid from her grandfather under the bed who was only trying to comfort her because he doesn't give off a bad vibe.
I find it interesting that someone is allowed to play an entire music video with their face by it but over 10 seconds of a song on something else is banned.
I believe the album is about depression, and the band members battles with anxiety, depression, addiction. The album is best listened to in order, because they wrote it as a progression of their feelings and how they dealt with these issues.
