    Built with the strongest steel and precision reinforced welds, Icon™ storage is tough enough for the daily grind of a busy shop…and you don’t have to break the bank to get the tool cabinet you deserve. Every Icon™ cabinet features a double-wall steel frame for ultimate strength. Industry-leading 16-gauge top and outside panels prevent dents and withstand the demands of daily use, and 18-gauge inside panels evenly support drawer and slide weight. Structural corner brackets prevent cabinet twist and racking. Under every Icon™ roller cabinet, three 14-gauge U channels distribute weight evenly to the industry-leading 2,000-pound-rated suspension casters with easy locks, so these boxes glide into place easily and stay in place securely. With a staggering 8,000-pound capacity, Icon™ roller cabinets are more than double the overall weight capacity of comparably sized Snap-On cabinets. These boxes are beautiful. Their premium ultra-tough powder-coat finish will withstand harsh chemicals and provide a showroom finish that looks like new, even after years of punishing use. Every drawer features the highest-quality ball bearing full extension drawer slides that support up to 265 pounds per set - or 530 pounds for drawers with double slides - even more than Snap-On’s Masters Series. An adjustable-force drawer latch system lets you dial-in just the right amount of force to keep drawers from opening when they should be closed. And heavy-duty non-slip drawer liners will keep your tools in place...right where you put them. Icon™ storage features an integrated power system. The power charging drawer has two fast-charging USBs and six 110v outlets with extendable chain-style power management. The deep power tool drawer includes six adjustable height holsters for easy access to air and power tools. Interior and exterior electrical outlets and USB ports give you easy access to power when and where you need it. We even designed a detachable power supply so you can move the cabinet without dragging the cord. And a Y-cord comes with the base cabinet so when you add a work center, you only have to plug in the cabinet once. An advanced locking system turns your tool cabinet into a vault to keep your valuable tools safe and secure. The interchangeable core lock comes with security milled keys that allow you to key-alike all your Icon™ storage units as you expand. Icon™’s modular design offers endless configurations for maximum flexibility so the system can grow with your needs. Customize your storage with expansion options like work centers, end lockers, end cabinets, overhead storage and top chests. The base cabinets are offered in three sizes - 36, 56 and 73 inches. And all Icon™ storage comes in four colors: Red, Blue, Black and Green. All Icon™ storage comes with free door-to-door delivery and a lifetime warranty-plus, a full line of replacement parts is available. It’s the only storage solution you’ll ever need.

    The ICON drawer slides are pretty heavy duty, time will tell how they hold up and for the Full ICON Catalog and Store Listing that will have this on display images.harborfreight.com/media/brand/icon/ICON-Catalog-Locations.pdf

    The drawers are tight because they have dials on the side of them to adjust the pull strength from light to heavy. And the box is a modular box you can change all the drawers to whatever configuration you want.

    Very nicely done Chris !!! I'm more that the Manager let you stand, sit, and lay in the drawers than the drawers holding up. 😁😍😀😎It did make for some cool shots in your video though. I've enjoyed the different versions of videos on the ICON even knowing that I will never own one. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts about it and your time and effort to helping us all. Rodney

    I wouldn’t pay $5,000 for any tool box. I have $600 boxes going on 8+ years of service. Most big boxes are purchased by mechanics that typically couldn’t afford to buy an $800 box. They can’t come up with $700-$800 for a US General box but the tool trucks will give them a $6,000 box with weekly payments and almost zero money out of pocket. Ive been to around 1,000 shops from coast to coast and it’s always the same story. I see mechanics driving a $500 car but making payments on a $15,000 tool box because car dealerships won’t give them financing. This is beyond crazy. I buy tools from tool trucks but would never finance a set of sockets and a ratchet. If you don’t have $300 available to purchase tools you probably shouldn’t be buying them. The tool trucks are dependent on people with no money making poor decisions. Sorry but that’s the truth.
    Edit: There are also responsible mechanics that pay their bills and can afford a nice tool box also. I am basing my comment on what I have personally witnessed in my course of work.

      Couldn't agree more. I know a family that had to declare bankruptcy as the guy, a Chevy tech, had a $70K truck bill. Of course he mostly used the tools in his cart, but had the big box filled with colored handles that he added to weekly. Most of the tools in the box were rarely used, if ever, according to him. It's the tools in the cart that helped him earn a paycheck.

      I am retired now but spent over 40 years as both a vehicle mechanic for ten years and 30 plus years as a aviation mechanic. I bought my original set of hand tools from Bonney and they threw in a 27" Bonney branded roller and top box. I used, abused and rebuilt that box until I retired two years ago. I just could not or see any reason to upgrade the box. I did buy hand tools as needed but NEVER did I ever consider replacing the toolbox. It stored all my tools with no room for anything else (that means that I had no room for any trash or odds or ends). When I retired I finally took all my tools home and then sorted through everything and then went out and bought a pair of US General 44" rollers, a pair of top boxes, a pair of side boxes and a locker and I have even maxed out these. I then built a wood working area in my shop and moved all my wood working tools in there and my vehicle tools are now separate.
      For years I saw the same thing in generation after generation of young guys buying the truck brands and then going broke and not having enough to even buy a decent car. I think it is a great that HF is finally stepping up to the challenge to provide a lower cost option to the younger generation to get a decent box but really a US General should be more then adequate for a lot of these younger guys until they are on there feet and I say at 40% of the starting mechanic end up doing something different with their lives and moving into something different.

      @K Will I paid $3,000 for all my basic hand tools in 1983 when I left the Air Force at the conclusion of my 6 year and 9 months enlistment. In todays dollars it is $7,563.00. Still under the ten to thirty+ grand these kids are indebted. At my insistance The jobber I went to buy my tools gave me a tool box free. I still to this day still have all the Bonney tools I bought from Grainger back in the day. Then I went back to school and got my A& P training for aircraft on the G.I. bill.
      I don't need nor will I ever buy the Icon box but some limited Icon tool purchases will be done by me. I just today bought the 1/2 Chrome flex ratchet and I want to get the ratcheting long reach wrenches in SAE and metric.

      Trucker88 Tool trucks love seeing the young bucks coming. They’ll go off the deep end on big ass overpriced boxes. That’s why Ebay is loaded with used boxed for less than 1/2 of their new selling price.

    Yes you can order deeper drawers to replace some of the shallow ones. When they deliver, they will uncrate the box and inspect it to make sure everything is there and not damaged.

    Hello Chris
    Great Video. Two questions come to mind. Unlike the automotive mechanics, where your Toolbox stays in one spot. Which I like a lot lol. My Toolbox has to be able to move. From one Aircraft to another. Sometimes from one hanger to another. So how easy is to move? Another question is how much does it weigh. That's for loading and unloading into a pickup truck. I don't always have access to a forklift. As always, thank you again

    • @ClientGraphics
      @ClientGraphics  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 56” is going to be rather large for mobility as just the box weights 650 lbs give or that a few pounds without tools. The 56” is also the smallest size offered with the power charging drawer at Harbor Freight. Something like the 36” might be a better option, but the carts don’t seem to be geared towards aviation but if you had to make one work it would be the 36” and now you would have to look at the price and options available.
