      @@LeisureBit Hi David , We were planning on doing rear doors first then sliding doors next . We love mountains (Pyrenees last year ) What other areas could benefit from insulation? I was under the impression that the body was insulated by Elddis

    Nice, tidy job David. I did the same and covered the door cards with cream faux leather as we didn't like the black and this brightens the interior. Keep safe and keep the videos coming.

      Thanks Jim, appreciate the comment - did you manage to cover up the clips on the door with the faux leather? completely agree the door card could look much better. Thanks again, David 👍

      Hi David. We still have the black studs as we like the contrast of the black on cream. Another option could be to change them to cream but not finally decided yet.

    Nice job David, I did the same when we got our. I sprayed waxoly in the bottom of the doors to for added protection. I also plan to change the door cards and fit with 4 way stretch carpet for a warmer feel / appearance. Look forward to the next vlog

      Thanks Tim - good idea to put some waxoyl in the bottom in case of any damp as I was a bit worried and was going to check to make sure not damp following - be great if you could get the 4 way stretch to hide the clips too - thanks again, David 👍

      Excellent - I haven’t done the sliding door yet but it’s on the to-do list still I have however insulated the back corners and the space above the back door which seems to have made a difference.

      @@LeisureBit Thanks David, actually on reflection, I don’t think I would get access to the sliding door due to the kitchen. But I watched this video were the door had to be removed to get access, and there was no insulation inside the door. th-cam.com/video/nCkPszWlOJQ/w-d-xo.html

    Hi David. Very interested in how thoroughly you tackled this one and thanks for all the extra details that ensure a really effective and tidy job. Can't understand why Elddis don't do this during build - it's not as if it's so time-consuming or expensive, but surely makes use of the van more comfortable. Looking forward to more. Thank you. Thank you George and Trish, appreciate the comment - I would imagine if you were used to doing it you could cut the time right down - the fiddly bit was cutting the sound deadening and getting the backing off 😀 all the best for 2022 - take care, David & Rachel 👍

    Good job. I've converted a few vans myself over the years and always paid careful attention to insulating and sound deadening. For ease, I'm thinking of buying a pre-converted van next spring and this is one on my list of possibles. I was surprised to see that there is no insulation at all in the back doors. Is there insulation in any of the rest of the van do you know?

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment and great question, yes there is insulation in the van but not in some of the voids such as the doors - perhaps not as much as if you did it yourself but there is some.
      The rear panels where the brake lights are etc I have recently added some too also. All helps doesn’t it.
      All the best, David 👍

    Hi David. Enjoying your videos. Do you have any plans to insulate the top half of the doors, around the windows? 👍

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nick, really great question, I’m going to have a look at the installation generally shortly to try and minimise heat loss/gain.

      @regnbean67 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi David. Many thanks for your reply. We also have a professionally converted PVC - Fiat Ducato and are keen to improve the insulation. Certainly the rear doors, sliding door and cab doors are, I believe, generally known to be lacking in any form of insulation or sound deadening. I would be keen to learn of what you might next do in this respect. Keep up the great work. Thanks again, Nick 👍

    Nice job there David, nice to see the mods are starting :-) Can't believe though that Elddis did not do this in the first place, for the sake of a few extra quid !!! Deb said thats one of the first things she wants me to do on our van. Also she wants a curtain across the rear doors, is that something you have planned??

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment most appreciated- ref curtain, yes but just working out colour scheme as was also going to put side window curtains in the back too - from what others have said I think that then removes any draft in the wind at the back door - good idea 👍 David 😀

  • @cirkuscederstrom

    Great video! Have you experienced condensation in the gap between the rear doors? I believe this is a problematic thermal bridge but not sure what to do about it

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you - Interestingly, when away at the weekend and it was -3C the metal part in the middle was very cold. With the heating on I’ve not noticed condensation but it is very cold at that point when it’s cold outside. I will look to do something to cover that when I get chance but not sure best approach as yet as you say. There is definitely a noticeable difference with the insulation in the door but just the metal parts to consider. All the best, David 👍

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can poke insulation up so far, you could remove the top panel I believe, you can get a fair bit up the side, to do it fully you would need the panel off - I’ve found what;’s one has done the job for us as made it MUCH better. All the best, David 👍

    • @ghunt9146
      @ghunt9146 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, very shoddy manufacturing. Any self build would automatically use insulation. Paying a premium for these campers & then expecting you to sort it out. It's not on, Elddis.

  • @brianridley1102
    @brianridley1102 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I thought the Elldis was supposed to be Class3/grade3? Certified, that can't be true with no insulation present in the doors?

    • @LeisureBit
      @LeisureBit  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Interesting point - I could be off here but believe to get the certification the habitation area just needs to be able to hold a temperature with the heating on to pass the class 3 so the insulation fitter would likely cover that level (floor, sides & roof)
