Programming by Steve Ettinger, Graphics by me; one of the amazing achievements at the time was the animation Steve provided by having the foreground images and background images go in opposite directions within the same pixel areas... We came up with this game back in 1980...33 years ago!
I remember playing Intelivision Live at my uncles house years ago. I tried that carousel game which I think was categorized as "Unfinished." I had no idea what the hell was going on.
If you look close - you might decipher both of our initials written in the stars - SEE for Steve E. Ettinger on the left - JAF for Joe A. Ferreira on the right...I think we got in a little trouble for that at the time.
For those of you that either have discovered retro-gaming or are old enuff to have played them new - I'd like to share a review of a new PS2 collection that includes one of my never-released Intelevision creations: "MAGIC CAROUSEL". MAGIC CAROUSEL was designed to be a digital/video version of a pre-schoolers "busy box".
Watching a video so old that it itself is almost retro, that's about retro games while thinking back to a time that these types of CGR videos were still being created, makes for a really wierd nostalgia-inception. Damn, I miss when CGR made videos like this about games.
I have the original Intellvision and the Intellivision 2. Love the console! I have the PS2 game too... I love the old video games! Really enjoy your videos....
A lovely compilation that has some quality titles and fun presentation. I prefer the Midway Arcade Treasures games personally, but anyone who misses their Intellivision will be very happy with Intellivision Lives!
@Blockygraphics looking at this I see your point. There may be some sort of retro revivial of the 00's at some point but it would be nowhere near as big as the 80's- early 90's revival.
This is an amazing collection, and it's insanely cheap. I got this at gamestop for like $3 or something. And Nightstalker is the nuts. Great review as always.
@Blockygraphics I looked up consoles on eBay and Amazon and most were around 50, 70, and 100 dollars. Yeah the common games are pretty darn cheap but there's expensive shipping, and 2 dollars is cartridge only, new is about 15. But it's the rare games that piss me off, I could simply NOT FIND Pac-Man or Thin Ice, at all! What site has a working Intellivision for 20 bucks? And do you know where I could find Pac Man and Thin Ice?
I know it's a good game. I wish I could have been born 10 years earlier (1977) so I could have started my love for Video Games with the classic 1st generation gaming consoles. It would have been a blast to even start out with the Magnovox Oddessy!
ok, soo 5 mins to get ready + 30 mins to ride bike to town + 2 mins to lock up bike + 2 mins to walk to mt games + 1 min to take game to counter + 10 secs to give money to lady + 32 seconds for her to ring it up = 40mins 42 seconds. I CANT WAIT THAT LONG!!!!!!!!
Even though I was an Atari kid back in the the day I knew several people who had the Intellivision. My favorite games were Space Battle, Night Stalker, and Baseball (when someone else was available to play).
That's very true PoPoNellie. And it also didn't have He-man or the Dungeons and dragon games. I have a few Intellivision reviews on my page. It would be nice to get some more Intellivision enthusiast over there.
I got my Intellivision at Goodwill for like $5. It works, but the controllers were kind of crappy... so I fixed them. I have a video how to fix an intellvision controller on my channel. I have this collection as well. I got it fairly recently for like $5.
I thought this was a great compilation but I feel many of the games are not as good as many games on the Atari 2600. For what this game sets out to do, it does it well.
In the next 1-20 years or s0 you'll find 30 PS3 games on one holographic card which will play on your Playstation 6, so you can re-live the age of the 12-year old MW2 player.
I have night stalker for the atari 2600. I know it was named Dark Cavern for the 2600 but mine is a silver label that actually uses the Night Stalker name.

"... And now I'm bleeding!
From this incision!
I really want my...
INTELLIVISION!"

brilliant review once again, I found it funny with the carosel bit. Go find the swan, the swan. lol
Watching a video so old that it itself is almost retro, that's about retro games while thinking back to a time that these types of CGR videos were still being created, makes for a really wierd nostalgia-inception. Damn, I miss when CGR made videos like this about games.
Man I love CGR reviews. It's an essential part of my day.
Tower of Doom alone is worth this game. The best real time Rogue-Like ever made, imo.
If that cafe existed in real life, I would be it's number one customer.
LOL at the Intellivision song, that's freakin' awesome!! I'd get this for Astrosmash and Buzz Bombers alone!
I have the original Intellvision and the Intellivision 2. Love the console! I have the PS2 game too... I love the old video games! Really enjoy your videos....
That Intelliivision song sounds like it's sung by Derek from CGRundertow lol
Ha ha😂
Real Human Speech
Great review!!!!. 2:51. BEE-SEVAWNTEEN-BAWMURR!. AVGN reviewed this but he made it very famous thus making the B-17 Bomber bit popular as hell.
3:40 is also the entrance music for Ric Flair.
Ric Flair is great and so is intellivision
WoooooooOOOOOOOOO!!!! :P
Ric Flair vs Mick Foley
The "Intellivision Lives!" opening music sounds like a poor man's Pet Shop Boys.
Mattel Electronics Presents: BEEEE SEVENTEENNNN BAWMER
Nerd: BEEEEEEEE SEVENTEEN BAWWWWMER
BEE SEVENTEEN BUWMER
if Classic Game Room made games.........
That song is amazing!
As an older game player (a couple of years away from 40), I have to say the games of my youth have not aged well at all, lol.
2:51 haha impossible not to think instantly about AVGN's review xD
what's the name of the song that plays on the piano in magical carousel?
WHY HAS NO ONE MADE A SEGA MASTER COLLECTION YET!?!?!?! I would design the menus for it, as well as the music, and it would be amazing!!!!
what is the song that played in the magic carousel joke
Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin
Holy crud lol, that's a creepy song!
I can see why the video games market crashed in 80s
Great review! Nice collection of older games!
HUZZAH! He found the carousel! More mind-numbing, Atari age, boringness! Great vid anyways, love watching the retro game reviews!
How do you save scores in this game, because I cant save my scores.
Best song I have ever heard lol
I swear to God I could watch that swan dance to the piano all day.
i really want my.. vec-trex.. that doesn't work
Do they come with intellivision lives?
"If 'Magic Carousel' isn't the best game ever, I don't know what is... Thanks to this game I can now count to NINE!"
You sir, have made MY night
I got this game for Christmas last year and it is awesome. My favorite game on this collection is Astrosmash
The games looks like they been berried in a time capsule since ancient times.
That tune the piano plays is Maple Leaf Rag by the way.
It's just awesome.
A lovely compilation that has some quality titles and fun presentation. I prefer the Midway Arcade Treasures games personally, but anyone who misses their Intellivision will be very happy with Intellivision Lives!
That Intellivision song is awesome!
Disk full of intellivision games has the menu as a pizza joint with a bunch of arcade systems WTF
You can even use the DJ Hero Turntable Controller on the Intellivision but only on Magic Carousel.
Did you see the icon for it? It is there.
Great review!
2:50 BEEEE SEVENTEEEN BOMBRR
was this released in europe? o.ö
i have to play that magic carousel game

Great review as always.
what is the song name at 3:40
i never knew intellivision rhymed with so much stuff!!!!
That song the little piano plays is the Entertainer by Scott Joplin by the way, it's awesome!
I had no idea something like this excisted! That's pretty epic :D I have to get around to buy it sometime!
BEEE SVENTEEN BOOOMBER!!!
That piano is a game in itself!
I just found a used copy for PS2 for $5.99 complete in case with manual - money well spent.
Please review the Intellivison and its controllers! :) I'm going to get it one of these days, as long as it's 150$ or less.
@Blockygraphics I looked up consoles on eBay and Amazon and most were around 50, 70, and 100 dollars. 3:52 sounded like the F word. XD
The dancing animals were just too much for me... lmao
That opening song is beyond words.. How I love the 80's!
I know it's a good game. I wish I could have been born 10 years earlier (1977) so I could have started my love for Video Games with the classic 1st generation gaming consoles. It would have been a blast to even start out with the Magnovox Oddessy!
not thompson twins... ABC!
‘Be Near Me’
I have the Intellivision Intellivoice add on, but lost the Intellivision itself D:
Does the real Intellivison you have work at all?
I'm really bleeding, from this incision.
I really want my, Intellivision!
WHAT?????
The NES lasted that long, too. Both are great consoles, indeed :)
the piano plays maple leaf rag by scott joplin
this game actualy helped me do an assignement for school.
That's an awesome song !!! Is it commercial? Can I get it for my Ipod?
Just ordered this, brand new for PS2, for £1. :)
God I love that opening Intellivision song. It's money well spent just to hear that.
Quando vai ser lançado o amigo estou esperando quero comprar uns 3 ja podes me responder
Oh Dear.. This just shows the power of Time!
it would be cool if you started to do intellivision reveiws! (once you get a better one)
Also, what happon to the VETrax!?
the cheering at 7:00 sounds like the sound the fans make when you hit a home run in R.B.I. Baseball for Nintendo
ok, soo 5 mins to get ready + 30 mins to ride bike to town + 2 mins to lock up bike + 2 mins to walk to mt games + 1 min to take game to counter + 10 secs to give money to lady + 32 seconds for her to ring it up = 40mins 42 seconds. I CANT WAIT THAT LONG!!!!!!!!

I wonder if the character in the Night Stalker is Richard Ramirez?
That educational game reminds me of the original GTA games, picking up your missions by phone.
This is one of my favorite ps2 games.
Never seen "Shark! Shark!" when it originally came out, but I'm familiar with the concept as it plays similar to "Feeding Frenzy" for the PC.
@HBKanedge818
Only little kids think that. For those of us that grew up in the 1980s and had the game, B-17 Bomber was always awesome.
I love that song!
Oh, man. That song is awesome.
00:21 I remember playing that soooo much at my friends house. XD
I saw a similar one on a market once but I am not keen on these direct to TV things. Sometimes the emulation is way off.
I got my Intellivision at Goodwill for like $5. It works, but the controllers were kind of crappy... so I fixed them. I have a video how to fix an intellvision controller on my channel.
I have this collection as well. I got it fairly recently for like $5.
OH YEAH!!!The B-Sevanteenh Bawmber!!
I have the GameCube version for my Wii, a decent lot of the games work nicely with an NES RetroPort and an NES Advantage for the controller
@ioport Yep.
Just bought this from eBay, £2 well spent, how did I not know this existed!? Well I guess that's why I watch CGR!
Also, the piano song is awesome. It should be on iTunes!
I thought this was a great compilation but I feel many of the games are not as good as many games on the Atari 2600. For what this game sets out to do, it does it well.
cool over 60 games in a game that COOL!!!
I saw a few million copies of this at my local Gamestop, maybe I should pick it up
awesome, night stalker for the win, i remember that packaging also. tho, i had my copy on the Mattel Aquarius.
That song is awesome.
This is super classic game. I don't like super classic games. But I guess I wouldn't mind playing them for just 5 minutes.
In the next 1-20 years or s0 you'll find 30 PS3 games on one holographic card which will play on your Playstation 6, so you can re-live the age of the 12-year old MW2 player.

The Activision Collection for ps2 is also amazing. You can unlock all the old Atari tv commercials and other cool stuff.
