    Twenty eight thousandths of an inch difference overall, do not forget to divide by two which is fourteen thousandths of an inch. WoW, that could very well be a tolerance on the print for the machinist to get away with that for sure. But without the ring and the first bolt tight intend you bring back the error to total and you have an issue for sure. What you said is fact. This video covers the information very well. Peace. VF

    Good video. And i definitely understand the part where you waited a year to put the "brand new wheels" on and come to find out,.... 1 wheel is a different lug pattern "which is the company's fault and won't take responsibility." You would think all 4 would be the same but apparently not.... lesson learned, 👍👍👍

    Glad to see this vid! Im looking at some 5x115 wheels that are 20in. Most designs i see i dont like for my 12' RT charger. Im looking at American Racing VN507 wheels, but they only make 114.3 wheels. The hub bore is also 72.6. I can get hub rings to bring it dwn to 71.6 to the stock bore, but whats your opinion on having hubcentric rings and using wobble bolts? Its a 0.07mm difference but want to make sure im not going to die. Worst thing i can do is get American Racing to build the wheels 5x115 i guess. Im also a Tampa Bay Local and frequent O town alot, you should host or guest host a meet if possible. I love your charger btw! Keep up with the vids!!

      @VeryGoodGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Super glad this video was helpful! I think that's exactly the right steps, basically using the right sized rings that get you to your Charger's hub size helps the wheel mount centered on the hub instead of centered around the lug (which is exactly how I have these Ruff Racing wheels mounted, since CarID shipped me 5x114.3 wheels and the right sized rings, so I'll trust that the manufacturer knows what they're doing). Maybe when we get some more followers we'll co-host a meet ;)

    The difference is stud size 115 had bigger studs then 114.3 as you can see in the measurement.
    you can fit 114.3 on 115 if you bore out the stud holes to fit the 115's larger stud.
    you can fit 115 on 114.3 if you have the right lug nuts and rings to keep them straight or else you will be rolling up and down on axle. center hubs and smaller studs

I didn't use hub centric rings because they're OEM wheels. Is that correct thinking? Also, question #2, is it better to put 115 on 114.3 rather than 114.3 on 115, or is it the same thing?

I went to get new breaks and the guys couldn’t find my wheel key and told me that I needed a specific key that they don’t have. • @VeryGoodGarage
      @VeryGoodGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sadly no, so what you need is a special socket basically that matches your lug nuts. Usually these are called wheel locks, so the key you need is going to be specific to whatever lug nut/wheel locks you have. You might have to take your car somewhere that knows how to take them off without a key

      You're looking for rings that fill the gap, or adapt, your cars hub size to your wheel's hub size. For example, my 2018 Dodge Charger has a hub bore/center bore of 71.5mm, and my wheels have a 74.1mm hub, so I would need these hub rings amzn.to/3uibkdX . I can find this for my car by Googling "dodge charger 2018 hub size". The wheels should list this in their own specs list.

      My wheels came with the correct rings, but the rings you need will need to match your own wheels. The won't necessarily be the same ones I'm using

    • @VeryGoodGarage

      Yup! Just make sure you use the right rings, and don't tighten the lugs completely the first time around. So first, tighten all lugs to like 50ft-lbs, then tighten them all to 80ft-lbs, then to 111ft-lbs and you should be set without any issues. I purchased some Ferrada FR-4’s (staggered)for my Camry TRD which runs a 5x114.3 lug pattern. However, the front wheels (19x 8.5) came in a 5x120 lug pattern. The wheels were re-drilled to fit the 5x114.3 by a machine shop. Will this cause any stress or damage to the bolts and or compromise the drivability of the car? Given that my car is front wheel drive.
    Or should I just purchase the two wheels with the true lug pattern for the car?
    I got a really great deal on the set so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

      It will also depend on the wheels you have. The rings are basically just an adapter. Your wheels will have one hub size and the car will have a different hub size, and you just need to find the rings that adapt the wheel to your car. The hub size (or center bore) of the charger is 71.5mm

    • @VeryGoodGarage
      @VeryGoodGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hub size is dependent on the hub size of the car and the wheels, and that's a number that will differ per car and wheel. For example, my Charger has a "center bore" of 71.6mm, but the wheels I bought has center bore of 74.1mm, so I would need hubcentric rings that adapt 74.1mm to my car's 71.6mm, which CarID included when I bought the wheels, but you can find your rings on Amazon, etc.

    Its a gamble really. Plenty of guys running 5x114.3 wheels on 5x115 bolt patterns for years with no issues, however others do experience vibrations or broken wheel studs.
    Just take them to a shop and have them redrilled to the proper bolt pattern for peace of mind.

      I would say *maybe*, for the same reasons wheels are okay, but because wheels spacers are already questionable I would probably try to get the correct wheel spacers (and also make sure you get replacement studs of the proper length)
